Heading out in a few days for our first experience as Snowbirds. Will not be leaving too early in the day so I think Sarnia area will be first overnight stop, and looks like we will be doing the motel thing.
Would appreciate recommendation on a reasonable place with easy access and parking for MH and toad.
Thanks.

Don't know if you have to stop at a motel or not vs. staying in motorhome.
I live in Port Huron and go by the Walmart daily. Usually at least one RV or more there every night.

We have stayed the past couple of years at the Country View Motel and Campground. Exit #25 west off the 402 on Oil Heritage Road then south on Hwy 7 and it is right there. No need to stay in the motel as they allow RVers to stay in the front of the motel in your own unit and there is a power hook up as well. I think they charge $20 for this. We then get up very early and cross at the Sarnia crossing which is about 15 minutes. Very easy and handy.

We always cross at Sarnia.
There are two parks we have used that are open year round.

Pinery Prov Park
Our Ponderosa

Depending where you go after that, we like to stay at Fort Custer state park near Battle Creek Mich. Open all year (elec and dump station only)

I live in Port Huron. You may want to cross over the bridge since it will be later (less traffic). I have asked Walmart management before about staying over night at their store and they said it is okay. If Walmart isn't your thing and you want to stay in a motel, the Super 8 in Marysville has good parking for rigs.

Thanks for the responses. We've never done the Wal Mart thing, and as well the biggest problem with that or any other place without electric hookup is no heat. Night time temperatures this time of year require heat, at least for this old body anyway. My single battery won't stand the furnace cycling on and off all night, and running the genny is out of the question.
Thanks again.

The manager of the super 8 said have them pull in east drive and circle around back and park on west side of lot.

Thanks Jtroop1. The Super 8 looks good but it is quite a bit out of our way. We were going to go west on I69 towards Lansing and then south from there.
Regards
