Now that most of the leaves have fallen off our trees, I just remembered that I never thanked the CVC poster who suggested a cure for leaves getting trapped in the "gap". The cure, which works very well, was to insert a piece of clear flexible hose (available at Home Depot, etc.) into the gap. Any leaves now sitting on top of the tubing are quickly blown off when the van is moving. Before this cure, I had to use a pressure washer to dislodge the leaves.

I've learned a lot from the many wise posters on this forum!

That's a great idea.

I don't remember reading that tip in here before, so thanks for mentioning it again.

Plenty of leaves and debris getting caught in that space yesterday and today (and tomorrow and Saturday) - we've got the remnants of Ida just churning 'round and 'round with incessant wind gusts and rain.

I sure woulda liked to have known about that little gem about a month ago.

Well, there's always next year.

Cheers.

Fiamma makes a custom strip that fills the gap on their awnings. Leave it stretched out for a day or two before you measure, and cut it.
