Is it a dealer or private sale? Are there any maintance records available? If the truck was maintained well, not abused, and priced right you may have a deal. Also, is it a one owner, 2nd owner? Is it a S.C. titled truck? If that truck is from out of state walk away. Especially if it is from up my way in New England. Could have been used to plow and there may be undercarriage rust if it was not run through car wash in winter months. Sorry to throw all this at you. Don't want to see you get screwed.

The truck is a private sale, drove good and seems like a good deal. A few things I did not like was the truck is a 3 owner, originally from Florida, no maint records, and the tires had uneven wear. I think I will pass on this truck and wait for another deal. Thanks for everyone's input.

Sounds like a wise decision. Keep searching and you'll find a great truck soon. Good luck.

We were hung up on Excursions a year ago. After seeing five, two that I really liked including an 05 6.8 with <30,000 miles (loved it save the 20k price) we finally found our baby, a silver 04 6.8 with 85,000 miles. What swayed the deal was it was owned by a real estate agent who happened to be the wife of a Ford dealership owner. It was loaded, had never towed any kind of load, and was maintained to the hilt, all records available obviously, and only $11,500 because of the high miles for the year.

Keep waiting, be patient, your deal is out there. Good luck!

2005 version here with 60K on it. We bought it 2 years ago as a salvage and have put 12K on it since. It pulls the TT in the signature with zero problem. Have replaced the belts and thermostat and that is it (knock on wood). I get the same MPG. The only time I use it is for hauling heavy loads and it's off the road for the winter. LOVE this pickup - it's powerful (use the tow mode), and it's comfortable to ride in long distances.

I'd say you'll do just fine with the 6.0.

Luckily I had the 4.3 in my Blazer or my last rig would have been tough to pull. I passed many a one ton dually pulling 5th wheel trailers going up mountains with my set up. Those little 6 cylinder Vortex's will scream. Check out my load leveling hitch with anti sway.

My TV/TT combination works great with my 6.0L. I did however find that towing through the mountians out west at higher elevations the engine had to work extra hard (with my TV/TT weight). Engine temp was never an issue, just had to watch the transmission temp.

With any TV drivetrain, towing within it's specified weight limitations will provide for an enjoyable and safe camping experience.
