I got a Garmin Nuvi 2455LMT for Christmas. I went online today to register and update it. After registration, I selected the option to update the device software. The page that came up immediately said it was 50% done, then it took several hours to say "complete", but now it has been saying "updating" for a couple of hours. Does anyone know what I should expect in terms of this update finishing? And, does anyone know how long it might take to do the Map Update?
I am using an Acer Laptop (Aspire 5515) running Vista and using a wireless connection that seems fast and reliable.

Probably about 3-5 hours depending on your internet speed.

It mostly depends on your download speed. If you're updating the map then you're looking at a 2-3 gig download which could take some time if the Garmin servers are overloaded due to the holiday new GPS's.

Using Garmin's WebUpdater "device software" should update in 2-3 minutes at the very most. Map updates and such take longer. As mentioned by another here the servers at Garmin are probably overloaded thanks to Garmin's being given lots as Xmas gifts.

software won't be too long but it took over 5 hours for the map update on mine.

Software update didn't take to long but the map up grade took 10 hours with an air card connection.

From start to finish, it took 7 hours on the Parks wi-fi.

WOW, you guys are really making me feel good. I have that gps and I did the full update and it took about 1 1/2 hours for everything.

I updated the 2455 Santa brought the day after xmas and it took almost 1/2 day to complete.
