I will say what many here have mentioned when talking about going full time. Have an exit strategy! As long as you and your Mom's health allow, travel and enjoy. As you mentioned "easy stages" is the key to enjoying travel. Have a plan in place to deal with a sudden turn in health of either you or your Mom and I say go for it.
Hope to see you out on the road.

Dale 662 go for it. Due to an accident I lost my father when he was only 62 - on those many years later I have often wished I could share some of the sites I've seen traveling the highways of the Good Ole USA!
Trust when I am 93 that my one daughter who is a travel nurse & son in-law will take me on a RV trip. But for now wife & I are both 77 & planning a trip starting in May hitting the states of MO, AR, KY, OH, IN, & IL to visit family. June 3rd we are to be in Indianapolis, IN for the birth of our 4th great grand child!

My grandmother (dad's mother) lived with and camped with us until she was 85.
She'd have lived & camped longer, but a drunk driver killed her.

Agree with that. My mother died 25 years ago from a stroke at age 68 and I wouldn't have hesitated for a minute to travel with her now were she still alive (course we camped a lot together as a family as I was growing up). But both the wife and I agree that now we wouldn't want to spend even one travel day with her 94 year old mother. She has always thought she was the Queen of the hill and everyone else were her workers to command. Around her there was no democratic decisions, it was all dictatorship with her making the decisions. My wife's father would have fit in with anyone anywhere under any circumstances for any length of time. Certainly depends on the person.

My mother is in her 90's and we have taken her on many trips with us, but she is no longer able to go up in the mountains. My advice is to be sure you have a complete understanding of her medical situation and a plan for what to do if a problem arises. My wife is a nurse and that has really helped us keep my mother comfortable when she visits us.

My mother is 89, and is very healthy and agile for her age. DW still works so Mom has been on a number of trips with me. We went to Massachusetts in June '10 for her 70th high school reunion, we have been to Florida, to southern Alabama, to Myrtle Beach, on the Blue Ridge Parkway, and to several area state parks. She enjoys going and while we prefer shorter days she has put in a couple of 500 mile days. Glad to take her while she can still go.

It wasn't in an RV but a few years ago, I drove my parents from KY to CA so they could visit the CA part of our family. It was a bit stressful since they were both in their 80s & have health issues but I wouldn't trade on second of the trip.
They are 87 & 86 now and I'd love to take them with us in the MH. They are responsible for my love of camping and seeing the USA but I don't think they're physcially able to go now due do declining health.
Take your mom and treasure every moment with her.

My father was a published photographer. I drove him on many trips taking pictures every fall. I would drive forward 1 foot and reverse 2 ft. I think I drove all those trips in reverse. lol I would not have traded 1 single second of those trips. He passed at 86. I miss him terribly but I have the memories of us on photo trips.
Take your Mom and enjoy every second!
