That is just hilarious! I was wanting to see how many trucks they could get stuck in a row. Maybe they should have just waited for the tide to go out...
I got to see a variation of that situation one day in college.
In the morning, I drove past this muddy alley (perpendicular to the paved road I was on) where I saw a truck buried up to its axle in the mud about 500 ft down the alley and a bunch of guys looking at the truck. They were hooking up a 4x4 truck to the first as I passed. When I passed the alley on my way to lunch, the SECOND truck was also buried up to its axle in the mud and a THIRD 4x4 truck was getting hooked up to the SECOND truck. When I cam past after lunch, there was a FOURTH truck with a LONG cable hooking up to the THIRD truck (which was buried in the mud up to its axle). The fourth truck was on the paved road (I had to go around it). When I went home that evening, I passed the same alley, all trucks were gone and there was a huge amount of mud on the road and 1-2 ft parallel ditches in the alleyway. (I guess I could have followed the mud trail to where the trucks went)
I guess they were able to get all trucks out of the mess eventually that afternoon.
Tractor driver negotiation with stuck vehicle owner.
Tractor Driver: Tow is $200.00
Vehicle owner: No way, I have never paid more than $25.00 for a tow.
Tractor Driver: O.K. I will wait up on the beach and watch the tide come in.
Vehicle Owner, Um, $200.00 sounds good to me.

End of dirt road, no signs in sight, sun going down: I am not lost, just getting ready to go camping.
You can drive on the beach at Pismo in California and there's a couple of tow companies that pull people out of the sand for a hefty fee. You can take your motorhome out there too and they make a lot of money off the RVers. There is a big discount if you just pay in advance. They will help tow you on to the beach and then help tow you off. I know lots of people who take the RV's out, but I don't plan on doing it, not when there are some really nice full hookup RV parks right at the beach too.
