I went to the air show in Mankato MN last Saturday. It was a lot of fun. The US Navy's stunt flying team "The Blue Angels" in there F18's were there. They put on a heck of a show. Flying tricks in formation at hundreds of miles a hour and 36 inches apart is amazing!!! If any of you ever get the chance to see the Blue Angels take it. You will not regret it. There were other stunt teams there too. I liked "Otto the helicopter". They painted a smiley face on the front of the helicopter and it flew stunts while the announcer talked to it like it was alive. It made you smile. The "Aeroshell Aerobatic Team" put on a good and loud show with there radial engines. And the pilot of the "Team Oracle" plane was amazing with the tricks he could do. He did live talks to the audience while doing his stunts and was saying "Yeah man yeah" a lot while flying and talking at the same time. It takes a special kind of man to do this sort of thing. I tip my hat to them. And, to the other stunt pilots too. I'm in awe of there ability. (and, some of the team members from Aeroshell were retired air line pilots with gray hair. I wonder what there wives must be like. lol.) But, there was a woman doing stunts during the show too. Julie Clark Smokin T-34 Mentor put on a good show. I'm very Glad I went to the show. It was a very, very, good time. I hope I live long enough to make it to another one some day.

Glad you enjoyed it, because their funding is in jeopardy. Some in congress see it as a waste of funds......I hope it does not happen, but who knows

I saw my first Blue Angels show when they were flying F-4's.
But the best show I saw was in Toronto, Bob Hoover and a Rockwell Aero Commander Shrike IIRR. A 16-point roll with one engine feathered, then with both engines shut down. Get them restarted, and do all the airframe would allow.

Yup, that's got to be her. How many can there be. She put on a good show. She also did a talk during the show while flying.

The Blue Angels are at the Quonset Point RI airshow every couple of years. The runway is about 2 miles from my house. What a thrill to watch them practice and on show days when they fly over low enough to be able to count the rivets on the wing.

Probably seen the Blue Angels about 25 times.

Have gone to airshows just for the Angels. Showed up just as their performance started, paid full price, watched their part, then left.

Haven't seen them this year so far.

Few things better than a good airshow. I love them, I have seen the Thunderbirds during the T-38 years and the F-16 years, the Blue Angels during the F-4, A-4 and F-18 years they never have dissapointed. They were really a blast to watch when they were able to perform maneuver's over/coming toward's the crowd. I was stationed at Incirlik Air Base in Turkey and provided security for British Tornado's, Sea Harrier's, French Jaguar's, F-4's, F-16's, F-111's (That thing was an animal), F-15's, Awac's, C-130's, KC-135's and C-5's, it was an airshow for me everyday that I went to work...I absolutely loved it. I really enjoy when the airshow's get nostalgic and bring out the WWII hardware, my grandfather was a Helldiver pilot in WWII and I have had a huge appreciation for all of these aircraft since I was a kid. As a Christian I know that envy is a horrible thing but God forgive me I certainly envy pilots.

If you're in the Pensacola area, a trip to the Naval Aviation Museum on the base is highly recommended, and there are bleachers behind the museum to watch the Blue Angels practice while in town. The museum and practices are free. Lots of "hands on" for the kids. Here's the link to the info.

Retired and visiting as much of this beautiful country as I can.
