He was a road rage type driver and you did not react to him and that makes you the better person.

He was a loser for sure! Hope he visits this site so he will know.

Stupid driver in the big black vehicle. He, in his attempt to get rid of some inner frustration put himself and all around in jepardy. If you had reacted in anger to his jesture, you might have thrown something out your window at him, slammed on your brakes, forced him to stop and started a confrontation...etc. As famously quoted: There's no fixing stupid.

I'm thinking a broken finger...maybe in a splint!!!

Doesn't sound like you did anything THAT wrong to upset him; the only thing that might have been upsetting was the right lane pass.

Don't sweat it!!

It always amazes me how tough some people think they are behind the wheel of there vehicle! I used to drive trucks and had an older gentleman lay on the horn and continue to flip me off and cuss at me in down town Los Angeles traffic! REALLY? you have no idea who I am, what my state of mind is, He could have become a statistic of road rage and he brought it all on by himself!! I was working, doing my job trying to negotiate a 53' trailer in downtown traffic, because you are behind me and I am being cautious going slower than you want, just wait! I will be out of your way as soon as I can be!! Where the hell am I going to put an 80,000 pound truck?
If you were not the calm person you are, how would he feel if you pulled ahead of him, pulled over and threw something thru his windshield? I have seen that a few times, at a rest stop a motor home was having a windshield replaced, I asked and they told me they honked at a guy that cut them off, he speed up and when they saw him off to the side of the road as they went past he threw a large bottle at them and flipped them off!!
God forbid they weren't out in the boondocks and this idiot had a gun???
Jeez relax people take a deep breath, It's not worth getting hurt over!!!

I notice that quite often people will speed up a bit when I pull out to pass them. I don't know if they even realize they are doing it because they usually slow back down once I am by. It's a bit frustrating because I'm sitting there thinking if they were going that fast in the first place I wouldn't be trying to pass them. I just wish more people would use cruise control.

As far as passing people on the right goes, if people are passing you on the right, you are in the wrong lane.

Wilber1, I've had that happen so many times. When I am towing and when I am not. I guess life is a race. But I'm not out there to beat you. I'm out there to beat my own final call home.

And you guys are right. I guess I will never know but I sure wasn't seeing what problem I was creating. I guess I shouldn't care if I'm not the only one looking at it this way.

Are you sure he wasn't trying to pull up beside you to tell you he saw something wrong with your vehicle? I try to let others know if I see something wrong, usually burned out brake lights. Often they don't get it & refuse to look over or roll down their window.

That would be better than the flipping off story.

Ahhh yes...the "finger"!

I blame it entirely on the Italians!

According to anthropologist Desmond Morris, the gesture probably came to the United States from Italian immigrants and is documented as early as 1886 when a baseball pitcher for the Boston Beaneaters, Old Hoss Radbourn, was photographed giving it to a member of the rival New York Giants!

Hoss Radbourn is the standing last row guy on the left..."his fingerhand" in on the guy in front of him's shoulder!

Some Asian cultures use their middle finger to point to things. And giving the pinky finger is offensive!

If someone displays their middle finger to me, I give 'em the pinky back! That'll teach them!

Things happen out there on the slab. It is best to just mind your own business and maintain your pace. I cannot figure out why you were watching him so closely, I would not have even noticed. I pay attention to where his rig is and could care less what he as an individual does.
