RE: insecure or inconsiderate

They probably didn't know they were on. This week our next door neighbor had their "scare" lights on and didn't realize they were on.

Reading all of this is why we have our own bathroom and shower in every camper we have owned. And we use it.
Have NOT used a public rest room for many years!

RE: my 2009 carriage and condensation

We have a carri lite and have never ever had those kind of problems. We full time in our carri lite. Ours is a 2008.
We also have dual pane windows and have never had condensation anywhere. Not on the walls, or windows.
You should take it back to the factory or dealer and see what is causing this.

RE: One Thing

When we had the SB house, and a different diesel tow vehicle, we forgot our towing mirros twice. Had to turn the 5th wheel around on our country road, and go back 5 miles to get them.
This tow vehicle has them built in and swing out for towing.
(I have to word things a little differently so my words don't link to a web site to sell something.) RV net is up to their tricks to get free advertizing links! :)

RE: luxury fifth wheel

As you are a new member, I am going to assume that you are not currently using a luxury RV. My suggestion to you would be to go to a few RV shows and look at what's on the market. You may be supprised to find that there are many 5'ers out there that are quite nice and priced at luxury level, so when you buy, you can impress your friends with what you paid. After that, you can come back a complain about how much it depreciated in the first year. Look closely at the 5'ers, M/H's and trailers on the road today..........They all use the same stuff. Luxury is in the price and does not translate to the end product. Buy a nice mid-range unit and enjoy rather than paying an inflated price for someones ego trip!
Teddycp
How many luxury 5th wheels have you inspected? How many luxury 5th wheel factories have you watch them build their 5th wheels? :)
To the person who is asking question of luxury 5th wheels.
We have a Carri lite made by Carriage and this is the fourth 5th wheel we have owned. After owning others we knew what to look for and visited the factory twice. Carriage does not use the same materials as entry level or mid level 5th wheels.
Carriage also make their own frames, have double floors and much insulation. Higher quality appliances.
We have put about 15,000 miles last year and 12,000 year before. It is holding up well. Still like new. It is a 2008 that we bought in fall of 2007. Use this as a full time unit so this is our home since we sold our house.
I would suggest as someone said to visit the factories of luxury 5th wheels.
I hope this helps.

RE: carriage carrrlite

100" is legal.
We tow our carri lite with a 5500 Dodge 2 ton dually. Does a great job and have pulled it through many mountain passes. No problem.
Had to upgrade to this 2 ton diesel, when we traded for our new Carri lite.
Our previous 2500 diesel just wasn't big enough.
This 2 ton we now own, has more stability towing too. :)

RE: RV 2010

I agreed they should have called this the "motor home show" They didn't have much of the show time on 5th wheels or travel trailers. Majority of the show was on Motor homes!
Somewhat Disappointed in the show, but will watch almost anything to do with RVing. Not many shows offered with this subject.

The suspension on a 1500 is not the same as suspension on a 2500.

RE: handguns and Canada

It is very expensive to ship a handgun. You need to have a licensed gun dealer send it and delivered to a licensed gun dealer in Alaska.
I am referring to hand guns.
This is one reason we do not want to go to Canada or Mexico. We would be defenseless from a large wild animal or whatever. Yes crime is less in Alaska but they have some really big wild animal meat eaters.
Would love to visit Alaska but will not cross Canada! :R

RE: Praise of tabbys

Our orange tabby thought he was a dog. He was very easy to get along with.
Our big tom maine coon cat thinks he is a dog too. Growing up with two Schnauzers. We call him the Dat. His name is Nino.

RE: Praise of tabbys

I make catnip toys from our old blue jeans. I cut squares or rectangles and sew them. Stuff them with catnip from a bag of catnip, I buy at pet store.
Our big tom cat loves them and they last better than the ones I have bought at pet store.

RE: Refueling in truck stops

We always use the truck lanes. Never have a problem. Truckers have been polite and friendly.
Takes too long for the RV pumps and too hard to get in and out of in most stations.
Have had to leave CC in most cases. I think it may depend on what part of the country, the way the stations do this.

RE: 5er broken into?

Why make it easy for them. I believe people should take care to make it difficult for them to break in. They will go someplace that is easier. Or if it take a lot of time or trouble they may get caught before they finish their dirty deed.

RE: Cameo by Carriage

We have a Carriage carri lite and it is a great unit. Did research for a year before we ordered.
Had 3 previous 5th wheels before the Carriage. All different brands. The Carriage product is the best of all of them, in build, and building materials.
Have had a good experience in dealing directly with the factory for minor warranty issues.
Yes we would buy another Carriage.
Congratulation on your choice of a Carriage product.:B

RE: 5er broken into?

Someone told us, a man had his kid crawl through an open window, they cut the screen and kid went through, unlocked the door and they were in. Took easy to carry stuff, jewelry, watches, money and etc.
The window in entry door is another easy way to get in. Heard of this happening. We do not have a window in door on this one. Previous 5th wheel we did and replaced it with thick plexiglas.

RE: Moving to 5th wheel

A truck big enough to pull your 5th wheel should be big enough to stop it. Yeah I know about trailer brakes but there is a lot of weight pushing you from behind. Also your truck needs to be big enough to stabilize it through towing in moderate wind and when trucks pass you.
I like my washer and dryer, dishwasher (use that every day, keeps the sinks clear of dishes!) The 2 fireplaces do help take the chill off, and saves propane when electric is free. Also we have the heat pump.
Many new 5th wheels are coming out with the "big foot" leveling system, like motor homes.
Also we like the electric dump valves.
Have 2 air conditioners and use both occasionally. This way it doesn't limit us where we go. Is good when stopping for the night, cools the bedroom down quickly.

RE: Something for your RV that far exceeded your expectations?

# one is dishwasher. Use it almost every day, or until I have a full load. Keeps the sinks clear of dishes!
Washer and dryer, Microwave/convection oven.
So many, would take too much space to name them all.

RE: BP Stations

Another reason to use the truck lanes for fueling.
And beginning in 2010 they all have to be low sulfer disel fuel.
