We are looking at getting a Ford Explorer Sport Trak 4x4 and are wondering if anyone already tows one and what your experiences have been? The model year we are looking at is 2007. Thanks in advance. We currently tow a Honda CRV 4 down.

RE: Drove my first Diesel this weekend

Once we drove a diesel it was not long before we traded in the gasser and never looked back. It is quite true "Never drive a diesel unless you can buy one".
Have fun.

RE: Satellite installation DIY?

We have a Itasca Meridian and installed the satellite dish ourselves. The wiring is indeed in the roof. Your drill a hole where indicated on the roof. I did have to run a new power wire as the one provided did not seem to have any juice. It took me one afternoon worth of work. You do have to reseal everything once you get done. If you are handy with tools and reading directions it is do-able. I also ran an additional cable so we can have the DVR wired correcly. Good luck.

RE: Winni vs. Damon

Our first class A was a 2005 Damon Challenger ( with a workhorse engine ). Drove a diesel and then had to have a diesel. Now have a Itasca Meridian. World of difference. Engine in the back. More stable on the road and much quieter.
We liked the Damon's layout but not the noise from the front engine placement. Also did not like the drive in the wind or when being passed by a semi. If you are only going short drives it would be OK. I think that the Winny product could be built better but have not seen the one that you are talking about.
Hope what little I have said helps you some.

RE: Toad/dinghy vehicles

I would suggest that you do a search on the dingy towing guide and it should list your pickup and tell you what you need to do to tow it 4 down. If it is just rear wheel drive you should be able to unless it is something strange. The guide should tell you what you need to know. Also pay attention to what type of brake system that you have as it will define the type of supplimental braking system that you need. You could also search the dingy section of this forum for more information on your pickup (it may have already been discussed). Hope this helps.

RE: Just another great week

I;m sorry. Does not sound like fun at all. This summer we had our air line on our air brakes break after just going over a mountain in Montana so we know how it feels to be stuck while getting something fixed. It is no fun. Hope next week is better.

RE: Damon vs. Winnebago

Our first coach was a Damon Challenger and we now own an Itasca Meridian. The first was of course gas and the Meridian is a diesel. We liked the Damon but did not like how it handled on the road in wind or being passed by a tractor trailer. It was all over the road when buffeted by wind. We added stabilizers which helped but the diesel is a world of difference. The Damon had a better floor plan but the Itasca is built better and far better to drive.
I always recommend that someone drives both a diesel and a gas and then decide which one is for you.
Hope this helps.

RE: outside false temperature readings

We also have a 06 Meridian. When we bought the unit new the temperature sensor did not work correctly and they replaced it under warranty. Seems to me it was the same kind of problem that you talked about. Have not had any problems since it was replaced. Sorry but I do not know where the sensor is.

I do especially when it gets lost or has me turning on to road that does not exist.

RE: Cost comparison / Gas and Diesel upkeep and maintenance

As said previously drive them both and the logical choice will be diesel because of ride and comfort. It does cost more but not hearing the fans all the time and the much more stable ride was the reason that we traded our gasser in for the diesel...and never looked back.

Service is clearly going down hill. Inventory is down and service is almost non-existant.

RE: Diesel motorhome

My wife would say that the diesel is much easier to drive than a gas class A. She drives it all the time. Drive one and you will see what we are talking about.

RE: portable holding tank

It is kind of stuck in the hose. So you put the top on the hose and go dump it.
