RE: lite hookup for toad

My toad is a 99 Jeep Cherokee. I had the trailer place install the 4 wire connector under the jeep, attached to the frame. Then I plug in a set of Magnetic Lights to the rear plug. I have a front plug that plugs into the motorhome. Works for me.

RE: Medigap and under 65

I qualified for Medicare @ age 63, due to Social Security declaring me disabled. I didn't have many choices for a Medigap Policy, just 2, one fairly expensive. I found that a Medicare Advantage Carrier(Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield) would take me, at $0 premium. In my area, most doctors are listed by the Medicare Advantage Carrier. That might not be the case elsewhere.

RE: Camping in Pecos Texas

Not far from Pecos is Monahan's State Park, Monahan Texas. I was there Dec 2007. Got a pull thru with 30 Amp. Really unusual place with the sand dunes all aroung you. About a mile off the interstate. It would be worthwhile for you to check out the Texas Stae Park Site on the net.

RE: RV parks in Laredo TX area and crossing the border

Lake Casa Blanca, Texas State Park on the East Side of Laredo. Been there 7-9 times in the past 6 years, although last trip was in 2007. Fairly nice park, near desert enviroment. Electric and water, a few sites with sewer, probably booked with the camp hosts. There are a few sites that really unlevel. Security is pretty good. Laredo is not much of tourtist destination. Lots of heavy trucks all over town. We were operating a 'Garden Art Business". Purchasing iron Trelles, Benches, baskets, etc from the Texas Wholesalers, who in turn were buying the goods from the fabricators across the border. We sold our goods at fairs and festivals until the encomey went to pot.

RE: flag on towed vehicle

My solution was to buy the wireless backup camera from PepBoys for $89. Replaced the center top clearance light with the camera, used the electric for the camera. It requires that turn on the lights, but that's no big deal. I don't know if I am compliance with DOT with one less clearance light. Not too worried about it.

RE: TN/GA Campgrounds Off I-75 Mid January Travel

You will have to check to see if they are open, but a couple years ago, we stayed at Cove Lake TN State park, North of Knoxville. Right off the interstate, found a pull-thru. Electric with central water points, don't remember the cost, but it must have been right.

RE: Southern Ontario Canada to Myrtle Beach in December

I have stayed at Camp Creek State Park, exit 20 on I-77 in the snow. I think it was Feburary. It was great, mountain stream, pull thru electric with central water points. But call them about being open, I think they are open all year.

Magnolia Beach, Port Lavaca Texas

How early in the winter, should I try to get here to get a site? I was there in March 2007 and it was still full with Canadians.

RE: All Year RV Park in S. Carolina?

There was a Craigslist listing under RVs for a long term lot on the Cooper River in past few days. Perhaps a few weeks at Buck Hall, a NFS campground northeast of Mt Pleasant on the intercoastal waterway might get you into area.

RE: Laredo, Texas

The late wife and I used to go to Laredo a couple times a year, (2003-2007) to purchase goods for her "Garden Art" Business. We stayed at the Lake Casa Blanca State Park on the East side of Town. It is a very nice state park. The park is around a lake and lots of locals fish the lake. So there is some traffic in and out of the park. Most sites are Electic and Water, although they were adding sewer at some sites. Some site are not the least bit level, others very good. Not much shade, we tried avoid the Summers, 110' possible. Laredo is not much of tourist destination. Lots of shopping of Mexican produced goods. The Mercado (Market) across the border is withing walking distance. But with recent problems, I would stay on the Texas. You can find just about anything on the Texas side that you can find in Neuvo Laredo. We did enjoy the adventure of Laredo, the friendliness of the residents, and of course the bargins.

RE: Heading west in Jan----where to go

Nobody has added Big Bend National Park. It is worth a week or so by itself. Then Monahans Sand Dunes, Fort Davis, etc.

RE: One Great KOA

Add Mt Pleasant SC, and Montpeller ID to that great list of KOA's.

RE: Amazon.com

Coffeyville was my hometown from birth until 1960. If Amazon is where I think is, in the industrial park. It was built during WWII as a P-38 training Base. It was years before I reliezed that not all planes had twin fuselages.

RE: Switch between Direct TV and Wingard

Well with no switch needed---now to get the R-6 cable and tripod, I bought a dish from the installer of the house. What length of cable 50, or more? I haven't looked are the connectors on R-6 the same as those on R-59 the old standard house cable? I understand that will need level to plumb the dish, a compass to get the right direction, and the zip code to give the heading. What I am I missing?

RE: McClellanville SC

BUCK HALL NFS CAMPGROUND The sport shrimp fishing season fills this campground for the entire season. It begins the last Friday before Sept 15 and runs for 60 days. I have always wanted to stay there, due to costs and locations, but it always seem to be the early Fall, and the fishermen beat me to it.

RE: Switch between Direct TV and Wingard

Thanks to wa8yxm, I never thought to look on the back of the reciever. That problem is solved really well. Now to get the dish and R-6 cable together.

RE: US 14 Yellowstone to I-90

Went from Sheridan to YNP last month on 14. Some locals in Sheridan, advise not to take 14A. Some road construction that left both the toad and Motorhome really nasty. I remember some climbs but nothing that caused any concerns.

Switch between Direct TV and Wingard

Any recommendations for a switch to change from Direct TV satellite service to over-the-air via the Wingard Antenna?

RE: Yellowstone NP Mid-Sep Weather

I was there this Sept 25-28---Great Weather, crowds not too bad, even got same day reservations for the last 2 nights of the season at Fishing Bridge. But now I see that they have snow. On the 27th, one the park workers said that snow was forecasted for the 30th.

RE: Yellowstone Fire

We got lucky, and they reopened the road on the 27th for us to get to the West Side. It had us concerned that we might have to leave the park, after driving some 2000 miles to see it.
