RE: Hot water/heater pressure help, please

I asked to find a check valve that was ALL brass, but could only find the one with the plastic inside.
I feel for you with the problems you are having. I hope you can get your stuff fixed without as much problem as it looks like.

RE: Hot water/heater pressure help, please

Ok, just in case someone else has this problem, it was the check valve that was right off the top of the water heater where the hot water comes out. The little arms on the plastic thingy inside were gone.
We got to this area pretty simply. Took out the plastic holder for the fire extinguisher on the side of the cupboard. Geez! So easy and I was making it too hard.
Thank you for all your help!

RE: Hot water/heater pressure help, please

I can't see it, but I think I can feel the check valve. I pulled out one panel in the cupboard. I broke and ripped several things to get it out. But to get at the actual back of the tank, I think I'd have to rip out the panels that you look at on the outside of the cupboard under the sink.

RE: Hot water/heater pressure help, please

Ok. That would mean taking the water heater out and replacing the valve? Would it be right on the tank where the hot water line runs out of it? Not sure how to get the heater out with the pex lines hooked to it and not break them?

Hot water/heater pressure help, please

Normally my hot water pressure is the same (or close) to the cold water.
Last night I was washing dishes and I believe I heard a slight pop sound. The water heater is right beneath the sink. The hot water pressure went to maybe 1/6 of normal or just a trickle. The cold water is still full pressure.
I checked the bypass valve and all the other faucets and the results were the same.
I drained the tank and when I filled it again, the water pressure was almost back to normal. So I turned on the water heater. As the temp went up in the water heater, the hot water pressure went down.
This morning since I had the heater off all night, the water in the tank was cold and I had pressure. Turned the heater on and again as the water heated up, the pressure went down.
So far, I haven't found a leak anywhere.
What is broken to cause this????? It's an Atwood water heater, propane only.

RE: inferior roofing material from jayco

Are you able to go to another RV repair place for them to look at the problem? Obviously Jayco and the previous repair place don't want to help you much. It may or may not be as bad as you think. But you need to talk to someone reputable about it.
I hope the cost to repair is not as much as you were told!

RE: Remove old caulk???

I wouldn't use a razor on the roof.
I would (and have) use a plastic putty knife.

RE: Cruise control recall

On my Ranger, the cruise worked for 3-4 years I had the truck before the recall. Now I have to click it like 40 times for it to stay on. I've removed the thing they put on and replaced the "actuator???" thingy too. No change.
If you get the light that will blink to show the cruise is on, then keep clicking it until it works. Mine will work then until I turn off the truck. The next time is hit or miss on if it will work.
Kind of like if it's not broke, don't fix it.
My MH, the cruise worked before the recall and it still works without problems.

RE: Shower drain

If you can't get the strainer off and have to access to the trap, then purchase some of the enzyme (foaming) type of drain cleaner and use it. Don't use the harsh chemicals.

wall plugs without screws to hold plate?

http://www.audtoo.com/img/plugin.jpg
There are no screws holding the plate to the wall plug. I have several of these in my rig. So... how do you service them or replace them? I am just baffled by this.

RE: Why can't we get a quiet fan for the furnace?

My friend has a 1998 class A (can't remember what brand, but not fleetwood). Her furnace is under one of the dinette seats. We have opened the seat while the furnace is running and it didn't get louder. It just has a quiet fan.
Mine is under the fridge. Looking at the "How to" for quieting a furnace, I'm not sure how I would ever get at all the walls under there. And it's hollow in back of the cupboards. Maybe I can figure out something for putting up some of foam to get some relief. At least I have some idea now.

RE: HWH Swing Down Jack Problem

For those of you that their jacks don't go straight, go under there and bend them down straight. They aren't very strong you know and even I can pull/push them down. Or fold them up if there is no weight on them.
I did not know you could adjust how close to the ground they are when they first extend. I will call HWH this week to ask about the adjustment. My jacks will just barely finish going straight on a totally level cement parking space. So, in rocks or just dirt with some minor bumps, I have to go under and bend them down straight while making a path for them if needed. Then go inside and extend them.

Why can't we get a quiet fan for the furnace?

I thought all RV furnaces were noisy and sounding like a jet. My friend has a suburban and it's quiet. I mean, quiet. You really have to listen to hear the fan running. Kind of like a nice quiet stick house furnace.
So, how do I quiet mine down? Why are these furnaces made with such a loud fan?

RE: Water Leak How????

I had a mysterious leak that only ran down one pipe. To use the flushing wand for the black tank, I take off the aerator and put on the adapter for the hose.
Under my faucet, it isn't solid. It has a metal plate. My aerator was kind of on the bottom of that plate. When the water was turned on, some of it was diverted to run back on the plate to under/inside the faucet and ran down the pipe.
I now make sure that I press the plate up when tightening the aerator.

RE: Roof

Just go up there with the big soft brush you wash it with. Use a good amount of water and gently brush the roof. Good time to check the seams etc too. Do it a couple times a year. Don't need soap or anything else.

RE: Oh now confused..

You don't WANT to have to have a warranty!
One of the biggest things is to look everywhere, in everything, top, bottom, in/out. Look for water damage or things that are not fit together properly. Operate everything.
Then get someone experienced with RVs to come out to look at it again.
You'll find the right thing for you. Take your time (if you can) and don't get excited about the wrong rig. Make a list of each you go see. Good parts/bad parts. Pros and cons.

RE: Good Sam Visa rates

I was really ticked about each of my cards raising the rates so high when I'm never late. So, one by one I called to cancel the card and told them why. Each of them let me keep my old rates. Citibank, Chase, and Discover. 12-14% is bad enough. But really, 25%? How could it be paid off if you should need to carry over a few months???? I know that's the idea. But didn't there used to be rules about how high these things could be?

RE: Dinosaur Boards?

Even I replaced mine with a dino board. I had to drill new holes for it. The only choices I had to make was if it was a spade plug from the igniter (yes on mine) or not. I left the 15 second delay in so I could use it in an emergency for my furnace if needed.
