RE: Have you stayed in Yuma Foothills?

If you want to camp free around Yuma, you can go to Ogilby road in California. Ogilby is 15 or so miles west of Yuma. The blm free camping area is about 4 miles north. Stayed there 3 weeks last year. A few others in the area.

RE: White Rim Trail Drive Report

Its a cool trip and great report...we did the trip years ago before permits were required...(in the 70's)...stayed over night in tents with about 6 or 7 families on the trip...we took our buggies...it was a blast. We started playing in canyon country in the 60's...things have changed since then..

RE: 98 Newmar Mountain Aire Dash Blower

Maybe a bearing or bushing in the electric motor of fan, that when it gets hot starts to bind up and put a load the motor..and blow a fuse

RE: opinions on a dp

I have a friend that we travel with that has a 98 Signature that has had lots of problems with...like so many, I would not even consider any Monaco product...Its a beautiful unit, but for some reason, he can't get every thing working at the same time.

RE: trailers for all 4 off-the-ground toads

I don't have a clue who built my car hauler...It has 2 3500 lbs axles under it and it handles my Jeep or buggy that I haul, about 20 feet long, payed $800.00 bucks for it.....As for me...I would not think of towing a vehicle 4 down...(I like to know that the vehicle is in the same condition at the end of the tirp as when I started the trip)..for the most part I have always been a traler behind the motor home person...as for tying it down...single chain wrapped around each of the rear tires with chain binders with a special grid that I build into the trailer... (One chain for each tire tied to the trailers grid)...(never, read, never had a chain loosen up or a lost chain binder... over 250,000 miles towing like this and never a problem...takes about 5 minutes to load and unload...

Thanks

RE: Our campsite at the sand dunes

Last winter we spent 3 weeks at Ocotillo wells camping and then 3 weeks on Oglby road. We like the area. Have a Jeep, for our winter vehicle and is not really set up for the sand. We like the area and plan on returning next year. We have a buggy for our summer play toy.

RE: You ever stay in a Walmart parking lot?

When running hard, we like to stay at wal-marts. They are every where, and you can pull in late, and except for the ones that don't allow over night stays, its easy to find a place to park for the night, most times.
We really don't like camp grounds.
Also, it lets my wife get out of the camper and streach her legs and call it shopping while I have my several beers for the night.
Just a note, we boon dock most of the time when traveling.

RE: Fla. & Texas only place to Snowbird?

We are from Michigan and head for Az. and Ca. for the winter. Boondocking for the 3 or so months we are there. Lots of places for that. We have had a motor home for more than 35 years and most of the time we dry camp when possible.

RE: Cumins 8.3 engine, idling high

My Dutch Star on a Spartan chassis with Cummins does the same thing. It kicks into high idle when stopped sometimes. Learned to just kick off the cruse control when going though cities or when going slowly. Not sure its the same, but its a cheep fix just to turn it off.....when crusing down the road problem, just going slowly or stopped......
