RE: 2010 ram video

I have owned Chevrolet's, Ford's and a Dodge. I have always been a Ford guy. After watching the video, I must say that Dodge deserves a second look. Good looking truck with nice features. I like the diesel motor, but what transmission does it have? The tranny is always the problem. Overall, nice looking vehicle. Bye the way, when I owned a 2006 F-350 the integrated beake contoller worked great.
The new 68re 6speed auto trans is very good, stout and the paddle shifter and tow/haul with factory exhaust brake is a blast.

RE: 15 amp service?

Look at it this way, if you were in a house, and the only thing you could plug anything into was (one) outlet how much would you plug into it?
What an answer???? Yes you can use the furnace, the igniter and fan runs on 12 volts. That's an answer for cryin outloud.

RE: Reese 15K Pro-bang when stopping.

I have the same hitch and it's been clunking like that for 4 years.I wouldn't trade it for the jaw type. I feel more secure with the bar that can't release like a jaw. These guys that have jaws on thiers need to mind thier own business instead of trying to sell you on what they have.

RE: full time single female rv'er

As a 5th wheel owner I feel a small class C is best for you but if it has to be a TT or small 5th wheel the 5th wheel is much easier to hook up alone, all you do is back into the hitch that you can see out your rear window. A TT you have to keep geitting in and out and repositioning till you find the right spot. I've had both and there is no comparison in how easy a 5th wheel tows.

RE: Slide Awnings

Folks will tell you that they are a waste of money and you don't need them...that's one opinion.
Folks will tell you that all you have to do is climb up on the roof with a broom or a leaf blower and clean the slide roof off each time..
Not me, I am not climbing up on a wet slippery roof or hauling a full size ladder or leaf blower around every time I break camp.
I like slide toppers for the reasons you outlined and more.
Look at any up-grade TT, 5th wheel or motorhome..they will have slide toppers.
I agree totally and they provide shade on top of the slides to help out with heat buildup inside.

RE: need opinions on type of truck to purchase

After all the research I did, even including Ford, I went with the Dodge because of the Cummins engine. It's easier to service, 6 cylinders and not 8 (less parts), tried and proven, and more reliable in the long run. It is, also, the best engine for mods. PCM
That's correct on the mods,I removed my dpf and egr and added a hypertech econ programmer.I now get 14mpg towing my 5er at 65mph on the flat roads of florida. Non towing is 19city and 23hwy.For the sour pusses of the forum if your not educated in modding a cummins diesel don't bother flaming me.

Pulling my 40' open road around just fine with my dodge 2500 6.7 cummins auto and the factory exhaust brake is fantastic. You don't need a darn 4500 or 5500 sheesh!

RE: Which brand replacement tire?

Well I thought maybe the karrier loadstar G rated 235/85R 16 was gonna be an improvement. BUTT NNOOO!!! Mine are 2 1/2 years old and less than 5000 miles. Yesterday I found a fist sized bubble on a sidewall of one so of course I no longer trust the rest!!!! I actually got through to roger at kenda and he was happy to let me know that I am 6 months out of warrenty!!! If your RV shopping and see karriers(kendas)make them replace the tires or your gonna have to.

RE: Set Date

Had the house listed for 260K which my realtor said would have been easy 1 year earlier.Eventually lowered it to 230K and still no sale(no offers) so gave up after 6 months. Now I'm trying to put it up after the end of the year and I'm afraid I'll be lucky to get 200K:(

RE: 5th wheel electric rear jacks

I have the single motor eletric jacks on my 2 year old Sundance and would not go back to the single manual style jacks. Once one side touches down it waits until the other side catches up and both lift equal, no flexing the frame.
Same here,3 years so far with no problems.

I carry my 250cc scooter on a standard 500lb reciever hitch cargo carrier that I modified with a swivelwheel. Go to doublehitch.com and you'll get the idea.

RE: Duramax DPF

OK, looking at your sig closer, it appears you Dmax has twin turbos?
If it is that highly modified, you obviously don't want to take it in to a dealer for warranty work.
In that case, ditch the DPF.
I removed the DPF and EGR from my cummins and I am trouble free and get great mileage to boot.(19city 23hwy)

RE: Looking to upgrade 5er

I would put cardinals in the same class with your open road. Now the carriage is a different story altogether.Love my open road and it's my last 5er ever (it's my 4th rv).I could not have drawn up a floorplan I liked better.
