RE: Oregon Coast suggestions
The state park maps are accurate. At South Beach, the inside loops are straight back-ins. When looking at the reservation map, look for sites in the outside loop that are angled. The straight back-ins can be tough with a pine tree in the wrong place. South Beach has a hospitality center with DVDs you can watch at the center. Coffee and tea free, too.
RE: Oregon Coast suggestions
Sorry, earlier I saw Newport, but read Reedsport. I think Tillicum NFS and Beachside State Park, between Yachats and Waldport, have the easiest beach access. Tillicum has some electric sites, very nice camp with stairs to beach. Beachside is a possibility if you choose a non-desirable site, against the highway or non-electric, straight back-in. It's easy enough to drive in and check their reservation board. Stop at the day use parking while there and stroll the beach.
RE: Oregon Coast suggestions
Carl Washburne State Park is 14 miles north of Florence, with a nice walk to the beach, or drive to the day use area. They just upgraded the electric at all sites, and have hot showers. Sutton NFS camp has some electric sites and is north of Florence. It also has a day use area, which you will need to drive to from the camp, off the beach. South of Newport is Winchester Bay with many camping sites. There are very few camps with an easy walk to the beach that will be available even mid week during the summer. Best to plan on stopping at the multiple day use areas on the beach. The dunes are well worth a dune buggy ride.
RE: Call Out For Help: S. Oregon Trim/Awning Work
Where in Southern Oregon? I have found Porter's RV in Coos Bay has always given my trailer good service and repairs.
The southern Oregon coast has numerous campground hosts, and they would be a good source for RV repair places to go.
RE: Crater Lake to Lake Tahoe
Hwy 395 is more in the sagebrush country, while hwy 139 is more in the pines. Either would be okay for your RV. I drive my F250 on hwy 139, towing a 31' trailer, down the grade into Susanville at around 30MPH. Maybe make the decision based on road construction. I think hwy 139 is having some one-way controlled traffic. I would probably take hwy 139 though for more options on overnight stays, like staying overnight at the BLM campground or the RV park at Eagle Lake, or the casino in Susanville.
Don't take hwy 36 from Red Bluff over to hwy 101 (curves, one lane) I would take hwy 20, around Clear Lake, from I5 over to hwy 101.
RE: Susanville,Ca.o'nite
The casino in Susanville would be a place to stay overnight, and if you are driving hwy 139, it is off hwy 139. Another possibility is to stay at the RV park at Eagle Lake, just several miles off of hwy 139 on A2, I think. Also, I camp at the BLM campground with a 31' trailer. It is right off of hwy 139.
