RE: Which park in Ventura County on the beach?

I have not stayed at either Faria or Hobson because we always use Rincon but I have visited both of them. I would choose Faria because it has a better beach.

RE: Furnace floor duct restricted

As you describe the symptoms it does not matter if the fan is on high or low, and the most common furnaces have only one speed anyway. The heating systems in RVs I have had do not have a central duct. The air box probably has multiple outlets with separate flex hoses going to each duct or a single outlet with tee fittings under the floor connecting flex hose branches to the registers. Restrictions often occur where the ducts have sharp bends in them or get squeezed passing through opening along their path. It is possible that a duct has become disconnected under the floor, or has a hole in it. You could try blocking off all but one register, one at a time, and check to see if you have good flow coming from the one that is open. In my experience there is not much you can do unless you can get access to the under-floor space. You might be able to get more heat delivered to the registers farthest from the furnace by putting an adjustable register on the closest one(s) but you have to be careful not to restrict the flow too much. That will cause the air box to overheat and the heater will shut down. Using the heater will the back removed is not a good idea. They are designed to work with back pressure and probably will not work otherwise.

RE: Which park in Ventura County on the beach?

Both. There is also the Rincon Parkway, which is where I am now, and Emma Wood, which is a State Beach.

RE: Delamination--please define

It is what happens when layers of wall construction that were glued come unglued. In RVs with fiberglass siding it means that the outer fiberglass layer has come unglued from the underlying plywood. It presents itself as bulges or large bubbles in the siding. Repair requires re-gluing the layers, which means that the wall has to be opened up. The repair gets much more complicated and expensive if there is dry-rot inside the walls, which is often the cause the delamination. That happens when water gets inside the walls, typically through window cutouts or other openings. In that case all of the rotted material has to be removed and replaced.

RE: Theft at campgrounds

Never a problem in 18 years of RVing. We put especially tempting things like the generator in a locked compartment at night and when away but chairs and bbq grills stay out.

RE: Carlsbad State Beach Campground

We have stayed there many times. The sites on the ocean side of the interior road are pretty nice. The sites vary quite a bit in width. All are adequate but some are wide enough to park a toad or tow vehicle alongside the RV. Most of them have bushes between the sites that provide varying degrees of privacy. As someone else pointed out the location is on a high bluff with wood stairs providing access to the beach. The new length rules say that RVs longer than 35 feet will not be admitted. Rates were raised substantially this year in response to the State's budget woes. The ones on the ocean side went from $35 to $50. That does not seem to have cut demand significantly. For the summer months all of the ocean sites still get snapped up in the first 15 minutes after they go on sale on the first day of the seventh month in advance.

RE: Local Channels ?

I have a different dish for the camper,,do I need to change the dish settings on set up? or does the receiver automatically detect the type dish being used?If you did not move your home dish then all that you need to do is plug the receiver back in at home. If you changed the Dish Type setting while on the road you will need to reset it back where it was, or set it to the type of dish you have on the house. You do not have to enter your home ZIP code - the only purpose of that is to tell you what your aiming angles are. As others have said the reason you did not get locals when traveling was that you were outside the area covered by the spot-beam broadcast.

RE: Protecting RV Decals and Graphics

I often hear 303 recommended for vinyl decals but I do not like the stuff, mainly because it streaks. It is certainly not the only thing recommended for vinyl decals. Mequiar's makes several products that are specially formulated to protect vinyl from sun damage, specifically #39 and #64. They work well for me. The only way to know what is best for you is to buy and try.

RE: Solving the Antenna Crank Problem??

Mine never comes off. I agree with the advice to buy a new handle, or go with a redneck handle - a pair of Vise-Grip pliers permanently clamped to the shaft.

RE: Suburban Water Heater - No anode rod?

I hope you are kidding. Have you checked how much it is going to cost to replace a water heater?

RE: Sedona from Quartzsite...

The only campground in Sedona is Rancho Sedona RV Park. They have some nice large sites on the creek but they are expensive. Other campgrounds in the area: Lo Lo Mai, Page Springs - have seen it, looks ok, but never stayed there Dead Horse State Park, Cottonwood - nice but about 25 miles from Sedona Do not try to take your RV through Jerome, or on 89A between Gerome and Prescott. The road is too narrow. The town is a neat place to see however.

RE: Rockwood Class A ???????

Dave, There's an outfit in Georgia that is selling Rockwoods you might have your friend e-mail them at www.wheelbynet.com for info ... That company acquired the name after the original company went BK in about 1993 but they did not carry on with the motorhome line and has no parts or information on them.

RE: Rockwood Class A ???????

I owned a 1991 Rockwood Regent, which was a 30 foot gas on a Ford Super Duty chassis. The house part, which was probably similar to the Prestige, was well built and gave me little trouble over the ten years that I had it.

RE: Contrast Ratio -Huge Disparity - Does it Really Matter?

As Popsie posted there are two measures of Contrast Ratio; Static and Dynamic. The numbers for Dynamic are much higher than for Static. For a good explanation of those and other issues related to flat screen televisions screens go to Crutchfield and look for the Learning Center. Here is the one on Contrast Ratio.

RE: NEVER TOWED DO I NEED BRAKE SY

I think that those people, and we all know who they are, take only the cost part of that equation into consideration and are basically just too cheap to spend the $1000 or whatever is needed to be safe. bumpyAnd how would you know who they are? If you are including me you would be wrong, but if you are talking about others you see on the highway - based on my observations of other people's towing setups I believe that I am in the minority. I believe that many are reluctant to say in a forum like this that they do not use a braking system because they know they will get flamed by those who do.
