RE: I-10 TX to CA
Have no 'visit this' comments, but be aware on I-10 in Texas and Az, sometimes a pretty good distance between fuel stations. And when you approach a cross-over that you think has gas, a lot of them don't -- So keep one eye on the gage and if you think you "might have enough", fill-up anyway.
RE: Yellowstone NP or North East?
Depends on what you like to do -- plenty of walking, hiking and biking in the NE. Maine, New hampshire, Vermont = beautiful. And NE has a ton of history.
On the down-side - crowds and traffic happens anywhere around the developed areas, and in the NE you often need to pass through developed areas to reach the 'wild areas'. Traffic on the coastal areas is always tough, but you can plot routes away, but you then miss some interesting sights -- toss a coin?
You could have a great time tho' in the NE ... just plot your trip to skirt the developed areas, or tuck in your chin and enjoy the historical tributes to our country. If you want specific info (have lived in NE for extended periods, twice) ... ask specific Q's here - or, I will respond to PM if you send.
RE: psychotherapy
Do not read Snowman's post with a full bladder. Yep, you will explode!
You only explode if your truck's not big enough !! Better read that post again, if you can ... :):):)
RE: SIL asks, Sean Connery was James Bond? (SHEESH!)
Craig who???
Ferguson....does a great Sean Connery impression on the Late Late Night Show.
Daniel Craig starred in the last two James Bond movies...
RE: psychotherapy
Snowman - very funny post ... although I assume you just 'ran out of paper' before listing ALL the topics ... Hehehehehe ... ROFHMS M44
RE: SIL asks, Sean Connery was James Bond? (SHEESH!)
Well, Sean Connery is certainly the king of JB ... but Craig is the first one in a while that actually can handle the role well. And, may emerge eventually as #2 all time, behind SC ... not nearly the actor SC is, for sure, not even close - but then, not many are anyway.
When I think of Pierce Brosnan as JB, I simply laugh at that comedy ... never in a million years could he be JB - even faking it. :):)
RE: Gov't to reduce Golden Access Discount to 10%
Here the seniors are complaining about National Park fees going up, what about loosing your Medicare funds? That is more important then camping fees.
But this is a camping forum, and Medicare is not camping ... so we discuss camping issues, generally.
RE: Lance owners
The Lance book says, "battery not included" so, I'd guess you'd have had to negotiate it when you purchased. My Lance did not come with a battery, and I bought a GR29 and installed it, as it was the largest one that will fit in the box - and two will not fit.
The dealer might include it, but MFGR does not, generally.
RE: My Dual Propane Tank Gauge Doesn't Work
anchor
try this. If you have a tank that has propane in it, turn off both manual valves. Now move the selector level to the tank that you know has fuel in it. Open and try to light a stove burner to purge the lines of pressure. The window should show red. Now turn on the tank valve, it should jump back to green.
If so you are set. If the tank that you have the selector pointing to goes dry the guage will show red and the auto selector will switch to the other tank. The window will continue to show red on the empty tank that is selected.
switch the selector over to the tank in use nd it should pop back to green.
Whoah, I think I am confused now. :h
Dave - You're not confused, that's exactly how it works.
RE: Starting a controversy on RV Net
You could put two dots in a post and get 3 pages of replies.

My 2 dots are only half full or is it half empty.;)
Neither, your two dots are half-missing..
RE: This is for Big Katuna & all Gator fans
Was no doubt who brought the better team today -- glad it wasn't close, so we know who is the best team today. IF it's close, it inevitabily gets blamed on a ref or a call, or one missed play. But, even from this Gator fan, Bama just came and did it today, no denying that ...
RE: Forest Service proposal to reduce senior discount
QUOTE: "I think singling out one user group is a mistake and have told the regulation response line so."
And that actually is my biggest complaint about this issue, although I probably didn't explain it right ...
If we raise the fees for EVERYONE, instead of invalidating the discounts of a few, then EVERYONE would pay for the increase of working capital in the parks.
But when you take the discounts only, then you're increasing the cost of only that category of CG user.
If you want to charge me more, then charge everyone more, and we can choose if we want to use the park or not.
RE: Forest Service proposal to reduce senior discount
QUOTE wnjj: "Something from the government is just something from your neighbors"
Right, from the neighbors. Well, I happen to be "someone's neighbor" does that mean it's something from me? Hmmmmm ... not sure, but I seem to remember paying just as many taxes as my neighbor, and earned the benefits those taxes bought ...
No one said to me: Just pay now, and later you get the benefit, but if we can't afforcd it. just pay now and we'll take it away.
Me personally, I got a GA passport as a Disabled Vet, so as soon as you give me back my health, I'll gladly pay full price for CG's, matter of fact, give me back my health and the money a healthy me could have earned, and I'll gladly play double for CGs.
Not specifically complaining about my service, and would do it again in a hot minute without a second thought - but don't make a promise, and then renege .. that's all I ask. My pass says for the life of the bearer ... and I ain't dead yet.
RE: Lance Warrantee Work - First Class
Monkey44,
We once lived in Lancaster....Where is the beautiful downtown area????
Beautiful downtown Lancaster -
A little patch of dirt right beside the Lance service center ... even has a few weeds, and some sand blowing in the wind.
RE: NFS Proposing 2 Eliminate Senior/Disabled Discounts
Well, let's see - can't reduce the COLA this year, it's already '0' - so gotta find another way to reduce the actual spendable income.
Wonder who thought that one up - voiding a discount. And where does the money go? NOT to the feds to reduce deficite, goes in the profit pocket of the concessionaire ...
RE: Lance Warrantee Work - First Class
What bothered me the most was 'no care' attitude from the RV guys when I called - sometimes, you'd think a repair person would at least take enough time to use his experience to help someone out - it could possibly have been an easy fix for someone that knows the repairs, so it would be a great help. I wasn't asking for 'freebie' just asking for help.
Instead, it was, 'you having trouble, so what? I'm too busy' ... and that's just not very appealing to me as a person.
You would actually expect the factory to be more concerned, of course, just as Lance was - and they did perform as soon as I got there ... maybe I was just thinking how I would have done it, had I been in the repair business, I would have at least attempted to see if it was an easy fix, and THEN said, it's too 'broke' to fix it now -then at least you KNOW when your on the road and you can deal with it.
Sometimes you get a problem and wait two/three weeks for appt, and find out it's only a loose wire, or something simple and you feel like an idiot.
So, I used good old ice for several days, and Lance got the problem solved - it was the "I don't care about your trouble' from the repair guys that got to me most. You almost want to be local so you can ignore the guy in the future :)
RE: Lance Warrantee Work - First Class
I wonder why these dealers and repair places are complaining about going broke and bankrupt when they are so full of work they can't take me for two or three weeks at best.
so they said " Hey we're goin broke here, we cant look at your camper for 3 weeks, we are so backed up with work! " ?
:?
Well, all you hear about on the news and in this economy is how broke all the RV places are, and when you try to find one to do a job, they say they can't, too busy ... I mean, they don't say that in the same sentence, obviously.
But which one do you believe - is the industry broke, or is it too busy - can't have both.
