RE: ERS Tipping

I had one occasion to use Good Sam ERS when my fuel pump came loose and oil spewed out all over putting me on the side of the road in our old Allegro. I called for a tow and dispatch sent a truck that was a little too small. The driver crawled underneath and located the problem, tightened the one remaining bolt, helped me refill with oil & followed me 30 miles to the next town to make sure I got there. He then led me to the only shop that would service a RV. I know he was paid for his time but I tipped him $50 for his service!

RE: The generator has 2,500 hours

The generator has 2,500 hours, so should I have it overhauled, if so, how much does it cost and where do I take it to?
The seller was able to get it started within 5 seconds, I could not get it to run since I took it home today. I am sure I am doing something wrong. I forget what brand I have, but it is all black. Is there a correct way to start it? Which battery does the generator uses to start it?
I'd bet that you ran the fuel down below 1/4 tank on the way home. Fill your tank and try again.:)

RE: Ford V-10

Come on guys! Who do you think you are kidding?
I live in Colorado. I am the owner of a stock 99 F-53 V-10. It's under a 98 Bounder 34V. I know everyone likes to claim their rig has the best performance and the best MPG, but get real!
OBTW you forgot to mention what the speed limit is over Wolf Creek Pass. I've been there! Put your money where your mouth is! I'll even make it easy. Let's go west bound over Vail Pass on I70 and see!
The speed limit is anywhere from 60 down to 25 and if your rig can't keep up you need to lose some weight.:B Mine is stock but it runs good.:)
I don't usually go as far north as Vail but if you'd like to come on down south for a hill climb, I'm willing. BTW, I am real.:W

RE: So many responses ....

How about when you ask a question and get no answers, next day post a 'bump', & still no answers.
You'd think someone would have an answer.

RE: Ford V-10

06 V-10 plenty of power even in the mountians.
I agree but, we are talking about a 99 not an 06!
My stock '99 34ft MH goes over Wolfcreek Pass mostly at the speed limit. The only place it's a little sluggish is the last curve at the ski area. That little 24ft C outta scream!:B

RE: Verizon Gps/Google/Blackberry

Corkey05
That's what I was wondering, if it costs $30 per month for the data service, and that's about all I would probably use it for(GPS). That's pretty expensive GPS service.
For those that use the other stuff with the data services it good for them.
I was just trying to get out of the expense of buying a GPS unit, as well updating maps etc all that goes along with the GPS.

Thanks
If you have a laptop, get MS Streets and Trips. Easy on the old eyes with the large screen and turn by turn directions.

RE: Anyone build wood ramps to work under MH?

The compressive strength of layers of solid wood is far greater than any wheel from any roadworthy source can put on it.

RE: Solution to narrow pantry

See your local cabinetmaker. I am one but do not work long distance. The face frame could be made narrower & either sliding shelves (pullouts) or a more usable multi-shelf unit made to fit. The basket units are expensive but lighter in weight and quite adjustable. You would still benefit from a redesigned Face frame.

The fake lugs cannot be replaced. $70 for one wheel cover-a bargain if you price a set.

RE: It's supposed to be down in the 20°'s

If you all think you have cold weather you should try sunny New Mexico. It's not only white here, but it was -9°F last night, got to a high of 19° in tha sun today and forcast below 0° again tonight. Presently 10° above-I feel warm :R
Hey, Plunk, you could come up to Angel Fire and experience some real NM cold. It was -20F the night before last; it's -4F now; and, of course, the white stuff is all over the place. The skiers may love this weather, but I don't.
:)
Lynn
I watch your temps along with mine on the news & shivver! I worked construction over there one winter when I was young and foolish-never again!

To remove a petcock you must first entice it with a pethen.

Try getting a pair of Vicegrips™ on it. I replaced mine with a brass nipple and 1/4" ball valve.

RE: microave removal

Usually there is a 'surround' that removes with a few screws. Look inside with a flashlight to see if there's a hold down bracket. Some just sit behind a piece of wood you can lift over.

RE: Rent Versus Own RV

We own (used but totally refurbished & customized)so we can travel with our birds which require cages mounted in a place where other comforts would have been from the manufacturer. The ability to consider this as an escape vehicle from any act of God or just to satisfy a whim to take off and see someplace new right from our yard and not return until we feel like it is also a plus.

RE: Another Battery Question

If you can fit a large 'deep cycle/marine' that would also have enough CCA (which could be supplimented by house boost in an emergency)to satisfy the starting requirements of your engine, then you might be on the right track. My V-10 came to me with a Gr-27 marine/deepcycle and although I doubted it's performance, it did start my MH today after several weeks of inactivity and a temp of 6°F & has never given me any trouble.
