RE: State and Federal Parks

Just want to put in a comment about the two week limit. As others have mentioned, it really is a very good idea, since these parks are not meant to be second homes for folks from up north wanting to escape the snow and ice. If these limits were not in place, native Floridians would never find an open spot during the winter months. If folks want to spend months in the state, they have the option of moving around, or if that is too much trouble, they can go to one of the private parks that have no limitations on stay times. There was, a year or two back, an effort to change the two week limit to one week, but that has not happened yet. Our state has wonderful parks, as mentioned by many writers, but I think we can all agree that we should ensure they remain available to as many campers as possible and not become permanent settlements. + 1 if not for the limit they would turn in to trailer parks.

RE: Utah --- public lands, boondocking, see the canyons

Here's where I am and have been boondocking for the past couple of months. Just outside Zion near Gooseberry Mesa. I come here for the biking, but there's loads of atv trails around. And I thought you were out there picking up women.:B Wish we could join you but as you know that will be a while before we are back on the road.

RE: Does anyone still use CB?

I use it for stock trading tips and political advice from truckers because they know everything. As a trucker, I have to say we learned it all from retired RVers. Yes you can learn a lot sitting around a camp fire in the woods.:B

RE: Does anyone still use CB?

They are still good for traffic info.Like what lane to get in at a back up at a wreck or what ever.

RE: Freeway or open road speeds while towing

I don`t run but around 65 most of the time but live in the south where it is hot. I went ahead and spent the 600.00 bucks or so on LT`s and a monitoring system. Sold the ST`s for a 100.00 bucks and told the guy why I had taken them off a new trailer.I had rather spend the money on tires that replacing parts of the trailer if one of the ST`s came apart.

RE: Freeway or open road speeds while towing

60-64 MPH everywhere, I'm speeding in Cali and a slowpoke most everywhere else. I've found the savings in gas, and my nerves, was well worth the extra time traveling. Same here 60 to 65 most of the time.

RE: You Gotta Love That Camper

Maybe a better way to put it is living and playing in the woods and by the shore in a different place every month. And as for a roof over your head.My insurance has a hurricane surcharge and I told them that was not fair as if there is a hurricane I was not going to be there when it hit and the trailer would be where I was even if it may be a Wall Mart parking lot.

RE: You Gotta Love That Camper

Rv, a cost saver? HaHaHaHaHahahahahahahahahahahah Let's have a drink? I was told that camping is when you sleep in a tent and heat with a fire. When you have a flat screen tv, micro wave, stove and frig.It is called drinking in the woods. :B But cost saver :h I don`t think so but I do know who or what slept in my bed the night before.:R And I have seen some hotels and not cheap ones that I wounded when and if the sheets were changed.:(

RE: Intro and requesting advice

You could save a lot of money if you found a home for three dogs and four cats.I am not trying to be mean but a realest. As some have said parks do have limits on how many and what kind of pets you have.It is bad that our country has come to this when the e legal`s and one`s that don`t want a job live in fee housing with medical and food stamps while working people have to do this kind of thing to survive. I wish you the best of luck.

RE: Need tires for my TT

Well, its getting that time to replace my TT tires. The ones that are on there now are Marathon Goodyears. These tires were made in Canada, and I want to replace them with ones made in the U.S. or Canada, not CHINA. Do you think if I were to explain to the dealer that I wanted ones that are not made in CHINA that he would just laugh at me. Not if he wanted to sell you a set of tires. They are turning out some made in the USA now.Maybe they have seen the light lets hope. I know of at least two dealers that I have seen with them made in late O8.The ones I have seen were 205/75/14`s so they do have US tires.

RE: Florida Sunpass RV & Toad

They have messed up enough accounts and took peoples drivers license that I will not touch one of them.I had rather just spend the minutes it takes to pay rather than go though what a lot of people have had to do here. You hit the nail on the head that all they say is nothing they can do so I don`t dought it is true. But if you are pulling a trailer and pay them it is three times the car rate.If it is a two axle trailer it is the same for each axle as a car.So I just stay off the turnpike. And can make close to as good of time across Florida. Some times better.

RE: ocala,fl

Silver River SP would be my first choice also. Fla-gypsy you better stay out of my camp sight #10.For real some of the sights are bigger than a lot of yards in Florida.:)

RE: I dodged a Chinese bullet

Our TT came from the factory with Duro bias ply's, and I immediately replaced them with TowMaster radials. I have the 5 bias ply's mounted on chrome rims out in the shed. I tried selling them, then I tried giving them away, but I still have them. Everytime somebody posts like this, it gets harder and harder to get rid of these tires....the big part of the problem is that I can't in good faith recommend that anybody put them on their trailer.... You are right I also have 4 tires but used the rims I may put them on my boat trailer as I just pull it a short distance at 45 MPH or less. Plus it is light and they are C rated.

RE: I dodged a Chinese bullet

Dub your tires could have been defective but there is not info in your post that indicates the China tires were at fault. Could you offer some facts in the case. It was a good thing you are aware of how the the trailer normally performed so when it changed you picked up on it. Like you we started out with used tires instead of new tires so their care and load history was unknown. I can tell you that from the people I have talk to that have had tires blow on new trailers all China made that I went a head and changed them on a 2008 trailer.S And I do know they had the valve steams that have been recall made guess where.I have a friend that had three blow outs from Fla to New Mexico. This trailer was just off the lot and one of the blow outs was a tire that he replaced the first one with.So after that one he got wise and replaced all of them on the trip.A friend that we just camp with I think thought I was crazy to buy new tires for a new trailer but guess who was changing tires before they got home. So I think he had good reason to change all of them.
