Last weekend the wife and I decided to take a 4 day weekend to celebrate my Birthday. Of course, the only kind of camping I really enjoy is boondocking, so we find some fairly remote spots.

We were sound asleep on Saturday night when I was awakened at 2:30am to violent movements and rocking of our TC. I grabbed the 9mm pistol above my head, opened the vent and started hollering. The wife woke up horrified by my hollering. Then I got up and turned on the outside docking lights to see what was out there, but did not see a thing.

After an hour or so we were able to get back to sleep. When I went out in the daylight I found numerous Bear paw prints on the side of the TC and the little rascal had chewed holes in our plastic gas can that we had on the back of one of our ATV's.

I believe we have had Bears around the campsite before at night, but this little rascal must have wanted some beer or food pretty bad.

Have any of you had a similar experience boondocking?

Not knowing what it was, I can't believe you were able to get back to sleep!!!

That's some Blair witch project stuff right there....Boy I tell you what!
I'd be spending the night on the bumper of the truck with that 9mm in
one hand and a flashlight in the other!!

Awesome story. Whew... If I were hanging out in bear country I'd probably want a Smith .454 just in case.

Well first HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Next, I agree with the others, get a bigger gun if you are in bear country.
