We prefer to tow a Jeep. Many interesting sites in the Western US are off on gravel roads that you really won't want to drive an RV on. We park the motorhome, unhook the Cherokee and go sightseeing off into some fairly rough terrain occasionally.

Jeep Cherokee, Grand Cherokee, and Wrangler are all good choices for this, as long as they are equipped with a 4wd transfer case with a neutral position.
