I originally posted back in April about my 5vr getting a ticket for no front license plate from the LA County Sheriffs.. Although the citation was only $30, I knew it was wrong. I paid the ticket and protested it. The first response came back for LA County and they said the ticket stands as stated. "all vehicles must display front and back license plates as issued".

It got kinda of crazy there and if you want to read the details in "5vr Front License Plate" archives, it's all there even the comments from folks who thought I was making this up.

Anyway, I protested it again and it went to an arbitration board for review, after almost 6 months, I received a letter yesterday saying I was correct and the citation was not valid. It did not include my $30 reimbursement.

Glad to read your update! It always amazes me how much government can spend before the right decision is made.

No doubt your cheque is in the mail, or will be before the end of government's fiscal year.

I can't imagine anyone, anywhere believing that trailers require a front license plate. It is beyond absurd.

But, if it were to happen, it would have to happen either in California, or Boulder, Colorado.

So, two questions remain............no, I'll take that back. A single question remains. Does anyone really expect anyone NOT living in California, or Boulder to really believe that if this were true, even a dyed in the wool resident of either place would NOT throw a change of underwear and a toothbrush into a bag, and rush screaming and trembling to the nearest boarder crossing to somewhere else?

They said they would send me my $30.

Unfortunately the means of paying for the toothbrush and underwear is in California. Believe me, as soon as the work well dries up, I’m adopting a northern accent, -you betcha, doencha know-.

Thanks for posting the current status. Somehow I missed your original thread (maybe I was off camping?).

Altogether not entirely surprising since I live here and deal with various departments of CA occasionally.

You should be requesting interest on the money they've illegally kept.

You always have small clasims court available. Ask for the $30 plus interest. Maybe you'll win a summary judgement if they don't appear to contest your claim.
