RE: Post your tow vehicle pics here

My complete rig. I know it's not as pretty as most here, but it is functional and very nice for its age. Looks pretty darn nice from where I'm sitting! Thank you!

RE: Cab to trailer clearance

I don't know if you have a hitch already, or can borrow one if you already have the rails. I Meashured my trailers width and divided it in half. Then Meashure from the back window to the center of where the hitch would be in tow mode. If it is a lot less than the width of your trailer divided in half then I would get a slider. Example. My trailer is 97" wide in front. Half that is 48.5". The meashurement between my aluminum back rack and the center of my hitch in fwd position is 36.5" So I bought a slider. I also opted for the Reese round tube as it had 12" of travel as opposed to the square tube 10" For a rough estimate, you can judge just about where the center of your rear axle is under the bed of your truck, then go 1" inch or so in front of center towards the cab for your reference point. Most hitches run centered over the axle or just in front of it. Good luck. How would you calculate this is you have and extended pin?. It would be the same... The king pin is still in the middle of the trailer. Just with an extended pin box, you can turn further "before" having to slide the hitch. The extended pin box will push the trailer back away from the cab a few more inches during normal maneuvering. If you were at a 90deg, you would still have the same distance from the cab as a reg pin box. Your trailer would just be further away from the side of your truck. Make sense?

RE: First weekend out - first oops with the new 5er

Hi Walt... I sent you a PM asking how things were going since I towed your rig home for ya.... It's okay..you don't have to answer it now...ha ha. That hurts, but like everyone says, you got the first one out of the way now it's time to enjoy the 5th. Leon

RE: Anyone have a superduty shortbed and a Reese round tube?

Looks good. We have an RDS with a tool box on top of it. The Reese we have is the same as yours but not round rail. It too clears but the pin box only clears by an inch or so when hooked up. Never hit though. Just FYI Thanks for that info.. Mine is an RDS brand also. Only one issue so far that was very minor... The mechanical gauge float arm was getting stuck on the inside of the tank wall. It read half a tank when full. I removed it and dremeled 1/4" off the aluminum arm that stuck out from the float. All ok now. I have since added a Pro-Tech Cab rack. http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t286/Xtremes102nv/3B8B5652-85D0-429C-9312-384CAE17E7AC-2259-00000248EB3730EB.jpg

RE: Superglide killed my inner child! Slider or Sidewinder?

Wow, that's crazy! I have a manual slider. I don't mind when it is time to use the slider to jump out, remove a pin, pull fwd a bit and then back my trailer in. I've only ever used it in tight spots in the CG's I have an older trailer that's wide up front with no reliefs and I have no issues. That really sucks your hitch "Kerploded"!

RE: Cord rubbing on tailgate

I put my plug in the bed... Right behind the left taillight. Easy stuff. It came as a "T" setup to tie into the back of the under bumper plug. I bought it on Etrailer.com with free shipping...about 45$. I like having the cord safe.

RE: Tailgate replacement ideas pleas

Just thought I'd add my .02. I bought mine on eBay. It was for sale at 585$ and had an option for best offer. I sent a best offer of 410$ and within 2 min it was accepted. It is a Husky Liners brand and very sturdy and pretty. It came literally the next day. I love it. I've had it two years. http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t286/Xtremes102nv/01FE5BD9-169C-4BA6-8723-18445FAEC3BA-844-000000AFBF135684.jpg

RE: Looking for possible tow assitance

Putting out a feeler for possible need for help. Ok we have our rig in at a service provider and it may get done with warranty work before our hitch comes back from Blue Ox. So that leaves me with a potential delima if this happens. I will have a 5th wheeler that needs to be picked up without a hitch in the bed of my truck. So anyone in the Central MA area I might be looking for either a hitch to borrow (we have a Curt 24K with standard bed rails) that would fit our rails, or someone that has a truck enough to tow the rig home. (Approx 9 miles up RT20 - Oxford to Millbury) The rig is a CC 38FL and the spec sheet GVWR is 16550 and the Pin is 2550 (and yeah I am sure it is heavier than that pin number). I have not yet rolled across the scales, but can tell you there is not much in the rig as it is still winterized (no clothes, food, water, etc....) We have a trail air pin box and tow with F350 dually. We might get lucky and the rig is held up longer than we expect and the hitch will return, but it was held up on the way out to NE due to closed roads (storms and such I assume). Blue Ox is building a new Bed Saver Model for our Curt 24K hitch as they didn't have one for our hitch yet and the plans for the warranty work got held up due to UPS box destruction... Send me PM for additional details. I can tow your rig for you.... Ive towed a few on craigslist looking for someone to move a trailer. I work in Holden Let me know if you still need help.

RE: Recommended CG near Lake George NY??

We've stayed at Lake George RV park and Lake George Escape. Lake George RV park wins hands down. Our Grandkids absolutely loved it there. There's so much for them (and us) to do. At the Rv park, is it paved roads, paved sites etc..? Not that I like paved but my kids like to ride bikes... Meanwhile, I'll look it up and check it out. Thank you very much.

RE: Can you leave the hitch on the trailer?

Here is mine... Padlocked and an extra padlock through the mounting ear. Sitting in storage since October. Can't wait to go get it!! http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t286/Xtremes102nv/7F575482-C702-4726-9A1D-72BDD913A94E-522-00000069B43ED72D.jpg I just drop the hitch on the gate. The hardest part for me is lifting into the bed on the jacked up F350. I can lift it, but I don't like it.
