RE: A/C vs. generator at 10,000 ft...who would win?

Concur with the question. We do most of our camping above 8000 feet and have only used the AC once above that elevation.

RE: Do you cover your 5th wheel or not?

No, and I don't wash the bugs off the front either :p

RE: Travling I-70 an I-80

For me, that would be time vs. scenery. I'd pick I-80 if I just wanted to get somewhere and I-70 if I wanted to smell the roses. Grades are worse (but managable) on 70 the wind is worse (Westbound) on 80.

RE: Henderson or Grayton Beach State Park

Can't speak for Henderson, we stayed at Topsail and Grayton a couple of weeks ago. Grayton was plenty large enough for our 34 foot fifth wheel and truck. Sites have water and electric and the campground has a dumpstation. Henderson is just on the edge of Destin (large resort area) and Grayton is further down the coast between two small beach communities. Do you want to be next to the mega-hotels or in a more remote area? RE: Cruiser fifth Wheel

We have a Crossroads Paradise Pointe bunkhouse that we have had for 6 years now. It has seen a lot of camping trips and is still going strong. See our Trip Photos http://www.myrvstuff.com/OtherTrips2007/RMNP1.jpg

RE: Free Entry at National Parks!

Does this mean that they will give me a rebate on the annual pass that I purchase every year? :R

RE: Travelling to Alberta and need some suggestions

We visited the Canadian Rockies last year and stayed in four different campgrounds: Bow Valley Provincial Park, Lake Louise (Banff), Wilcox Creek (Jasper) and Whistlers (Jasper). With the exception of a single night in Wilcox, we spent numerous days in each allowing us to visit many different areas of each park without moving too often. The distances are too great to see very much without being based out of several different areas. RE: solar power

I have three 125 watt panels and live in Colorado where we get a ton of sunshine. If I didn't run the inverter very much that would be enougn for basic lights, furnace etc. Using the inverter to push a TV-Blue ray player, I still end up using the generator sparingly.

RE: Glacier NP is it worth the trip???

You could easily spend a month there, but two weeks will wet your appetite. Glacier has some of the prettiest scenery in the lower 48. It's a combo of the rugged style of mountains, low timberline and the coloration in the rocks that give it a unique beauty. Compared to other mountain areas, most of the trails aren't as steep and the views are more open. Even for the non hiker, there are a number of long, skinny lakes that have tour boats that allow any one to get up close and personal with the scenery. The Going to the Sun road is simply one of the prettiest roads in any of our national parks. RE: Drawer holder closer ideas wanted

I use a bunge cord with an eye below the bottom drawer and another above the top drawer. Haven't had a single problem since I started that. Also use the bunge with a ball on the end for the cupboard doors.

RE: Bryce NP to Capitol Reef NP

I can't get enough of your Hwy 12 photo, Alan! Do you remember what mile marker this was nearby? I'd love to try to get a similar photo... Thanks, Paula I don't know the mile marker but it was right at the start of the S turn ridgeline coming from the North. I stopped at one pullout prior to the photo pullout but it din't have the effect. The pullout that I took the photo from had both the view and the sign :B

RE: Best Route from Moab UT - Grand Junction CO.

It's time vs. scenery. If you've got the time, take 128.

Rewired through conduit on the outside of the axle and haven't seen the problem since.

Take Hwy 12, it's awesome: http://www.myrvstuff.com/SpringBreak2009/IMG_2388.jpg height=400 width=266 If you have time for a 3 mile, almost flat, one way hike, visit Calf Creek Falls about 15 miles East of Escalante on hwy 12: http://www.myrvstuff.com/SpringBreak2009/IMG_2459.jpg height=400 width=266

RE: Colorado Hwy 14 camping

Mountain Park is probably the nicest of the campgrounds on the Poudre River. The FS remodeled it a few years back and a number of sites have electricity and all roads are paved, sites are gravel. Reservations can be made for Mountain Park. Previously mentioned Dutch George is first come first serve only. The Narrows CG has about 6 or 8 sites that are large enough for larger rigs as well and is reservable. Both Narrows and Dutch George are in fairly open meadows along the river and next to the highway. Mountain Park is across the river from the highway (you can't hear traffic) in an open pine forest.

RE: Elkmont, GSMNP

Nice to see D1 at the top of your list. That's the one that I snagged for our trip in a few weeks. We are looking forward to introducing our kids to the Smokies after exploring the Western US for most of their short lifetimes. I grew up visiting about once a year and am looking forward to getting reacquainted myself.

RE: Guy loses his rig on highway

I have my hitch locked to the bed and release bar locked in place as well. I can't imagine taking the chance that someone might be able to mess with such an impotant connection.

RE: Anyone Have Photos of Goblin Valley SP Campground, UT?

By the way, Alan - I just looked at all your spring break photos and once again, they are simply spectacular! My favorite is "Steep Grades/Sharp Curves". Now I know why that hwy. is one of the most scenic drives - what an amazing perspective! Your Bryce Canyon photos were excellent, as well. Keep shooting! Paula Thanks Paula! Make sure you hit Calf Creek Falls if you are in the area. It was the unexpected gem of the trip and a very easy hike. Alan

RE: Why do LP lines have to be "bled" each time?

I dont think it leaks to below atmosphere but equal to atmosphere then high pressure weather will cause air to leak in and low pressure will cause it to leak out. This also happens to the hand soap dispenser in the rv , after it sits for the winter there will be a pile of soap under the spout. Aaah... The soap dispenser explanation sounds as good as any offered here. I think I'll dwell on it the next time I'm bleeding my lines waiting for the stove to light :W
