RE: flat towing rubicon

I have my 2013 Rubicon on order. Follow the owner manual, your jeep dealer is given you the wrong information. The transmission should be in park on Auto(in gear on standard) transfer case in neutral.

RE: Campgrounds near Badlands

We stayed right in the park, had great view for the morning sun and evening sunset. Saw a few animals in the CG at night.

RE: Boondocking at Walmart

When I travel, I have certain places I want to stop at and send my time there. In between, I don't plan on my stops to be at a CG. I think there are to many variables that come into play. Traffic, sights and other thing that will change my travel plans to worry about getting to a pre-arranged CG. I find that these free night stop are great. I can stop when I want to, my MH can make it through the night with out using the generator, so I am not disturbing anyone. Think of the money If the owners of these free night spot don't care why should anyone else.

RE: Smart car, tent trailer, kayak combo

Great set-up John. Is that a light right above your meter on the battery pack?

RE: Boondocking at Walmart

I use walmart during our travels. I find them very good for overnight stops. I always check in with them to get permission to stay the night. We are fully self contained, water, electric and everything else we need, that is way we bought a class A. For when, we stop outside of a campground. I have even stopped at few walmarts that security has showed me where to park for the night so I could open my slides. I never understand why it always comes to being cheap when staying at a free stop over a privately campground, yet many don't think nothing of staying a BLM grounds or other places that offer cheap camping. Each their own, life is to short, let each enjoy what they like to do.

RE: Replacing 921 to leds.

I just installed the LED's that milo and mena661 are referring to and very happy with them during my test. I have not done any overnight's with them yet, but my amp load is way down.

RE: Walmart I10 Gulfport refund coming

Happy to see that Walmart did right to the OP. Just a shame it had to go this long for the OP. I use Walmart for overnight parking when traveling, I sure would hate to run into this kind of problem, after getting the OK from Walmart

RE: Towed jeep odometer rolling up miles

I am looking into getting a 2013 Wangler. If you follow the owner's manual there is a section that tells you how to set it up for RV Towing. Gives you all the information you need. There is no talk of turning the key on.

RE: Ohio--> Fort Wilderness: Too ambitious a plan for a noob?

The whole RV things was new to us. The First year that I got my MH in June did a little camping around home. Then that same year, Sept we went to Fort Wilderness. Come back home to CT. And in Oct. went to Tx. Go for it life is short.

RE: Should I buy an expensive/complicated MH?

We had a laugh out loud moment this last weekend while watching an rv show on the travel channel. I guess the new "in" design feature is to control all the electronic gizmos via an ipad app. I bet in the real world those systems are so problematic as to not even being installed for end consumers. Seriously if your rig is 400sqft and you are unable to walk two feet to switch a light on then there are bigger issues to contend with. I watched the same show, most of the owners of them RV don't have to worry about how much it cost to fix those "nice motorhomes" I am not as young and as moveable as I use to be. But I can still work on my simpler gas MH.

RE: Power question

Just to be sure, I'm attaching an image of my meter. I put in on DC and turn it to 20 (was told to turn it to the number just higher then what you're looking for). Then I touch the ends to the posts on my batteries and I get 5.6 on each battery. Is that the correct way to measure the output of the converter? I found that on another forum. http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8244/8593036822_448d9533bc.jpg meter by photo.paul.moore, on Flickr Just to make sure things are going right, You said you are reading 5.6 volts on each battery. So you have two six volt batteries, right? (three caps on each battery) IF not, I would say your batteries are shot if you are only getting 5.6 volts post to post. Also, are you sure post cables are hooked up right? Gary

RE: HELP! I'm stranded at a gas station in my Monaco DP

Might have an air leak in the fuel line? Did your filter fill back up after you checked for water?

RE: Where do you locate your outside temp sensor?

I have two remote sensors. I have one in the LP tank area and one in the water bay. I just switch to the one that is in the shade. And when it get cold out I can check the temp in the water bay to see if I need to turn on the water bay heater. I have two master stations that I can check the temp from, One next to the bed and one at the dinning table. I am happy with the results.

RE: PD9145A converter wiring in my rig

Just for a starter do you have a battery disconnect switch on the house battery that is turned off? On my MH I have starting battery and had two house batteries. All batteries are charged from the alternator and just the house batteries are charged my the converter. This is just for started I hope it gives you some information that is helpful.

RE: plugged into 220 by accident, lights will not work

Just because nothing in YOUR rig uses 240v doesn't mean 240v isn't available (assuming you have a 50 amp rig). SOME folks do have 240v appliances. It is only wired differently because there is not a 2 pole (240v) breaker in the box. Put in a 2 pole breaker, hitting both legs, and you have a 240v circuit. Just like your stick and brick house. The 50 amp RV outlet has 2 hots, 1 neutral, and 1 ground, JUST LIKE a stick and brick house. So, the wiring is exactly the same as your house, except for the lack of a 2 pole (240v) breaker. But that doesn't mean the 240v is not there. However, I agree that plugging a 30 amp plug into a dryer outlet takes some effort. Getting a 30 amp RV outlet wired wrong, however, is distressingly easy. You see that reported here frequently. In this thread as a matter of fact. we just got the trailer and my buddy thought it was 220 so he wired the recpitcal as if it were 220. I checked the fuses and all are intack. the unit does not have a battery hooked to it at this time. I checked with a meter to see where the converter hooks to the fuse panel and i dont get any DC amps. can the converter be replaced at the panel? Hey Bobbo just top help your point out the main 50 amp breaker in a 50ampRV is a two pole breaker
