RE: SLIDE MOTOR RELAY???

I am surprised the slide is wired through the fuse panel, but the LED basically says the fuse is not conducting current. It could be a fuse that looks good but is bad, or it could be the fuse holder itself is bad. I would try a new fuse, make sure it fits tightly in the fuse holder, and if that doesn't work, move the lead to another fuse position.

RE: Bolt snapped off but from where??

I would expect to see less corrosion where the washer was- neither of those looks like there was ever a bolt and washer there. There are typically extra mounting holes on accessory belt brackets for other optional equipment.

Neat OZ Stop Sign

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NoTMC-uxJoo- a pretty neat stop sign for truckers who ignore low overhead signs. The water screen projection makes it *real* hard to ignore :).

RE: Winegard Entertainment Select & Jack Antenna

Some of the Winegard selector switches have a power supply built in- if your is like this you do not want to put 2 power supplies in the line, so remove the Jack PS.

RE: Pre-99 Kwikee step question

This is a very common model post 99, but before the latest Chinese motors.-

RE: Pre-99 Kwikee step question

1999 was the year Kwikee changed from the Delco series wound motors to the Ford permanent magnet motors, not the recent changes to the door switch. The Delco models were far different- a change akin to the recent switch to the integrated motor and gearbox (IMGL).
Here's a couple of pics of the old setup-

RE: Waxing/Cleaning

I have not used this, but I have been around rigs that have. It is similar to the RedMax/Zep stuff, though it supposedly has UV protection in it. I don't find the cost to be outrageous, given what you get. It does last years and gives a great shine, and it is nothing at all like the "sealer" that new car dealers sell.

RE: Pre-99 Kwikee step question

I don't remember the date they changed, but the old Kwikee models used old GM series wound motors which are quite different than the new ones- they are grounded through the case, and one lead is forward, the other reverse, as opposed to reversing polarity as the do now. The old gear cases etc. are far different than the new ones.

RE: 10 Worst States for Retirement!

How you need to work WY is buy rrigated farm land & lease it out. It will pay your property taxes. If you own the property you basically live there free. You can build a large metal bldg with living quarters. JMHO
Just make certain you own the mineral rights, or you are sol.

RE: 10 Worst States for Retirement!

All I can say is I looked at the 10 worst and the ten best and they really didn't use any of the metrics I use for where I want to live- my list would be just about opposite. I also notice that the much vaunted tax rates are only a couple of percentage points between top and bottom- not really enough to worry about. It's just who pays the taxes- is it on income, property or sales.

RE: Polish for Front Diamond Plate

I have not used it, but I've seen the results of Aluma-Glow, which I suspect is an acrylic in the Red Max/ Zep Wet Look vein. Basically get the aluminum clean and uniform and the coating makes it shine.

RE: Can Anyone Tell Me What Year....

At least my Winnebago kitchen cabinets will be attached to some kind of metal for several years instead of wood for a few years.
Winnebago does a very credible job as far as safety. Anyone who has ever remove a refrigerator from one can attest to that. They have an actual engineering department, staffed by actual engineers :)
As mentioned, Born Free is tops as well.

RE: how to safely deenergize capacitor

Just take a screw drive between the posts and touch them with the screw drive at the same time. This will short out any power in the Capacitor.
And possibly destroy the capacitor- if it actually does have a charge.
