RE: UTV Camper?!

Maybe it's like those miniature tents Walmart sets up over the boxed tents in the camping dept. I doubt it's finished inside. It may be just a sales prop.

RE: Buying at Camping World

It's so hard to not bash! I bought my first TC from CW and got an incredible deal because they had no demand for it in Charleston, SC. Other than that, I have nothing good to say about them. From my experience, no dealer returns phone calls unless they have seen you in the show room personally. Alos, I've never seen an "internet sales dept" at any dealership. I think it's whomever answers the phone first. If you get disconnected twice and no return phone calls when trying to buy, what happens when a warranty issue pops up? My advice is to go elsewhere. Surely they're is another dealer that has what you want. Maybe a little drive, but take advantage of that and do a shakedown trip! Since when does CW sell Truck Campers?

RE: TC and awnings

I too have a power awning on the back of my Adventurer. I like the idea of it, but have to say it is almost useless. The awning is so high, with any wind the rain goes right under it. It is also more than a foot shorter from the outer edges of the camper. I would do a regular awning, that stretches the full length of the rear of the camper. I really like the side awnings too, but a canopy tent does the same much cheaper.

RE: What mistakes have you made that might help others...?

My biggest mistake was buying an Adventurer!

RE: can't find mini air conditioner

This is on Tiger Adventure Vehicles' Facebook page. They just announced a new model. https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/563473_450090285063293_487064361_n.jpg

RE: can't find mini air conditioner

Watch this video. The ER guy mentions, the "sharp units" in the video. You can alos see where the AC unit is placed (in a cabinet). Also this image shows the finished product.

RE: Truck Camper Slideouts - Are They Really Worth It?

My wife LOVES the slide. I do not. I wanted a smaller camper, she wants a 5th wheeler. We have a 2 1/2 year old daughter, a 4 month old daughter and two 50 lb dogs. The slide adds some floor space, which is nice. Any extra space with our crowd is great. However, my slide has leaked buckets since delivered brand new. I've had the whole thing pulled, realigned, re sealed, new gaskets, everything, yet it still leaks. Another complaint is the air leaks. I can feel a huge draft under the slide. If I bought another TC it would probably have a slide, because that's what our family size damands. I'm building my next RV and unless the wife demands it, it will have no slide!

RE: what speed do you maintain on the highway ?

HWY is 65. Back roads, speed limit or less around curves and down hills. I drive faster when the kids are crying.

Congratulations. Can't wait to see the rig all set up.

I believe ER uses Sharp.

RE: can't find mini air conditioner

Earth Roamer uses units like this. They put it on the back wall in a cabinet. Keeps the low profile roof. Great idea - room for another canoe!

RE: Truck Camper with 10 month old baby

Look here at the third mod down the page was our solution for our first daughter. Our second will now sleep here and the oldest will move to the dinette where I plan on building a similar gate. http://www.truckcampermagazine.com/images/stories/Mod_Contest/mod-3-Camper-Bunk-2.jpg http://www.truckcampermagazine.com/images/stories/Mod_Contest/mod-3-Camper-Bunk-3.jpg http://www.truckcampermagazine.com/images/stories/Mod_Contest/mod-3-Camper-Bunk.jpg

RE: truck camper construction question

Look here. A ton of different custom builds using varying techniques. I have been designing my own build. I am leaning toward a mixed frame of steel lower and aluminum upper.

RE: Short or Long bed

I thought the Arctic Fox 811 could fit in a long bed if you ordered it without the generator and storage in the rear wing.

RE: Attaching things to camper interior walls?

I use command hooks for towels and jackets. Command hooks have worked fine in the wet bath too. I've used them in all my RVs. They work great. No peeling walls or coming off in hot weather.., yet.

RE: Happijac Remote Control Problem

My happijacks on my Adventurer have stopped working several times. Not all of them but one or the other at varying times. Then they start working again after doing nothing. I've taken it to the shop and they cannot find a problem. I have a feeling it may be water in the actual motor but have not been able to confirm this as I don't want to take them apart. Again, the shop I've taken the camper to says they work fine and cannot repeat the problem.

RE: crazy question, is this a bed?

Its a bunk. I think Lance rates theirs at 140 lbs max.

RE: This will be the year of Lance

I wish I had gone with the 855S. I was very happy with the quality of my 845. The 855S came out after I had ordered my Aventurer lemon or that's what would be on the back of my truck!
