RE: Need Help! One way tow vehicle rental for TT

Just a thought, not sure if it will work, but.... I would contact all RV dealers in the surrounding area where your rig is and ask if they are having any new units delivered. You might get lucky with a transporter that was bobtail back your direction and might give you a discounted tow. Might be worth looking into. Sorry to hear about your bad situation. Best wishes, I hope you hit some good luck soon!

RE: Good interior cleaning?

My DW hired a a guy from DH General Contracting. The guy works for nothing, does as he's asked or told, and you never hear a peep out of him. I heard he tried to suggest something once and almost got fired so he keeps to himself and has that RV in immaculate shape. She even figured out how to get him to travel to the CG, park the rig, get it all set up, and then cook! She found a workhorse for sure!!!

RE: Wall Mounted Hair Dryer

My wife uses a dryer and I thought about mounting one also. What kept me from doing it are the holes in the wall. Hair dryers fail and lose performance and once it does you’re stuck replacing it with mounting holes that do not line up. We have plenty of storage in the BR and just keep one in there. Coffee makers IMO fall into the same category…..keep em’ on the counter.
Would 3M command strips get it done with no holes??

RE: What do you do on a STEEP hill when your TV dies?

Too bad I didn't happen by, coulda thrown a tow strap around the bumper on my 5er and your front bumper and we'd have gone up and over the pass together like a CSX train! Lol, jk..... I am just used to seeing Rams stuck on the shoulder.. ha-ha jk again...
I don't own a diesel myself, just a monster gas hog 496ci gasser so I am only taking a stab at this but...... I remember a couple of years back two guys I worked with had similar power failures. Turns out they bought contaminated fuel from the same truck stop on the same day. Once they purged it out they were all set...
Don't know if that may have been the case but worth considering since you've had no issues since...

That was an actual business Washington DC. They made high-end fur clothing. The business may survive as Rosendorf Evans. The original business name and address: William Rosendorf FURRIER, 1213 G St. N. W. Washington, DC

RE: Open up one bed only for naps? :-)

It would not be possible with our 2005 Fleetwood Niagara as the front bunk being a king had to be setup for the door to be installed and it would stick out past the trailer tongue when fully extended. Also I would hate to deal with the issues caused by a passing rain storm if the other end wasn't popped up properly...

RE: Learn from my (incorrect) knowledge - wheel fell off truck

So glad to hear no collateral damage or accidents resulted... It reminded me of our residential move from MO to OH. The contracted owner operator of the moving van was delayed to pack and move us due to having to "borrow" a rig from a local United Van Lines affiliate. On his way from MN to MO he was travelling in the left lane to allow a car to merge from an on ramp. As he was preparing to get back over he saw a tractor on the oncoming side of the interstate lose a rear wheel. If he had changed lanes the tire was on a trajectory to wipe our the little sedan he allowed to merge. In an instant he decided to brake hard and the tire hit just behind the cab and wiped out his entire truck. The car safely passed him on the right before the impact of the tire spun his whole rig across the right lane and into the grass on the shoulder. The rig was a total loss and he had some nasty bruises and, I think he said, cracked ribs.
His quick thinking saved the family of 4 in that sedan. A tire and wheel at highway speed is a lethal weapon for sure. Although he couldn't do much packing his hired help busted through our house in 1 day rather than the quoted 2 to get us on schedule. He is one over the road driver I wish more would emulate. A great guy for sure that averted a potentially horrible situation with quick thinking and bravery....

RE: Trip to Michigan, Part II (One More Question)

Kalkaska RV park is a great little spot. Has limited # of full hookups tho. We liked the electric only sites better anyway.
Harbortown is pricy and a bit like a rig parking lot sprinkled with grass. Hayes state park can be crowded but if you grab the right spot it is a relaxing getaway park...

RE: Attention males: Thetford plot uncovered

After having the same argument with my wife, I finally gave in and now always put both the seat and cover down after every use. Makes me feel a little better. If I have to raise the seat and put it down every time, at least she has to raise the lid every time as well.
My biggest pet peave with the RV toilets is the flatter bowl that causes splatter all over your shins.........
And the floor, the walls and your shoes... Ever wonder what the causes the stains on the walls in that little closet?
And the mess on the floor of the public men's rooms? That we have to walk and stand in! yech!!That is why in our trailer, all users of the facility are requested to sit for ALL performances.(BTW I'm the male part of the team.)
X2. Saves a lot of cleaning in this house full of men.....

We use the Dirt Devil Dynamite with the tools and it works well. Retractable handle makes it compact enough to store easily. No bags, no fuss. YMMV....

Just a fact of the times we are in. The next generation will not have the income to purchase such items. We will have to start exporting them to china.
I too have thought we should start exporting the next generation to China!!! :B:B

RE: IPA Beers

So many beers, so little time:
Stone Brewing Co. Ruination IPA, Arrogant Bastard Ale, Double Bastard, Stone IPA
Odell's India Pale Ale, 5 Barrel Pale Ale, 90 Schilling's Ale,
Dogfish Head 60, 75, 90, or 120 minute pale ales. All of them are great.
There are so many it is hard for me to narrow it down.
Happy hunting in your quest to find your favorites, you wont be sorry if you try to taste every one out there!!!!!!!!

RE: Portable Ice Makers

I have had the magic chef version from kohl's for about 5 years. Works like a champ. We run it under the king pin of the fiver. Keeps it out of the rig and keeps me from slamming my dome on the pin!
I use RO water from the house to fill her up since I mostly use it for drinks and such. At this point, I wouldn't leave home without it....

RE: New EcoBoost F150.

I have been a gm guy since I gave my teenage project car, a '64 Fairlane, to my brother over 25 years ago. Although I have a nagging desire to find a late 50s Ford pickup with a 401 Flathead for a project car.
Anyway, all of that gm loyalty may have eroded after I started looking at a replacement for the DW's Bravada. She would like a pickup so she can haul her kayak and or bike to the great outdoors on the weekends we arent camping. My Sierra with the 496/ally is too hard on the wallet for anything but towing or hauling heavy loads. Looking at engine / drivetrain specs in the 1/2 ton varieties, Ford appears to smoke the equal gm offerings. Especially with the ecoboost technology. I am sold so far. I want to go test drive a few of both this weekend to see if the paper is backed up by being behind the wheel.. Has anyone else switched from a Silverado/Sierra to the ecoboost???
I got three words. Bikerack / roofrack /crossover.. I don't understand why you would need a full size pickup to haul a kayak/bike? Actually, it's easier for us to get our kayaks on the car's roofrack than it is to get it on the truck. Truck's with 6' box require some sort of rack to haul them.
If it was me, I'd be looking at crossover's or 4 cyl cars for DW. At least then you'd have one vehicle in the family that got 40 mpg. That is, if mileage really is important.
Its purely a preference thing. She wants something to haul all of her yard/gardening stuff with and not tear up a vehicle's interior. Also, she is too short to hoist the kayak on to the roof by herself. Since we work divergent schedules she is often out on her own without me there to help her load it up.
I have another vehicle that I drive to work for extra mileage so she is looking for a practical vehicle more so than extreme fuel efficiency.
Again the list of vehicles is driven purely by her preferences.

RE: C/K 2500 fuel mileage

It make no difference to me, when it gets to E, they all need s to be filled up. by the way I love my 2006 dodge 5.9l diesel, would not have a gas engine.
I have thought I wanted a diesel for about 6 years now. I finally test drove a gmc with the duramax. Now not so much. I like the acceleration of my gm 496 vortex better. But that was not the deal breaker. The noise in the cab going down the road unloaded was brutal. I was worried what the increase in noise level would be loaded with the rig. I have always thought they sound cool from a distance. So I will keep a diesel in the distance I guess. Not fat mouthing any diesel owner's choice, was just caught off guard by the sound level.... Are they all like that?
