RE: A must see in Vancover, CN in one day

Huh, I've lived here all my life and have never heard of Canada referred to as CN. If that's what you mean, I wouldn't bother with the Aquarium because almost every city has one. Go see what most other cities don't have. I would do Grouse Mountain which will take about a half day. Gastown and Chinatown should take about a half day as well. If you are not in to the nature scene on the mountain, then perhaps shopping on Robson Street is more your style. Are you sure he means Canada? CN is also a rail road. Lol.

RE: A must see in Vancover, CN in one day

Which Vancouver? Vancouver CN would mean Vancouver Connecticut which I can't help you with. Sorry.

RE: Golf carts, stay on the course

I don't play golf (only once and I got a 63 so I figure it's not that hard. lol) par 3 - 9 hole course Nope, par 3 18 hole, local community course. Not a famous championship course or anything silly like that. My buddies grabbed me to go hit a round and I either rented or borrowed some clubs. I can't remember. It was a long time ago.

RE: Golf carts, stay on the course

--------Comment on paragraph two, some golf courses do not allow walking due to slow play, so if you want to golf , you have to ride, I walk unless I have to obey the course policy! Bill.--------- I don't play golf (only once and I got a 63 so I figure it's not that hard. lol) so I am only going by what I saw as I ride by my bike past the few golf courses that happen to be road side and I see both walkers and drivers. I didn't know that there are mandatory cart courses. That's interesting but if that keeps things safe. Sure why not. Makes sense to me.WOW! 63 a course record? for 18?? first time WOW! My theory is I only played once. That way if I quit, my golf average is a 63. Lol. Honestly, I just didn't find it all that interesting. Maybe I will play it again when I am really old and can't do anything else. Haha.

RE: I believe in engine brakes!

surveyorjp, Thanks for clearing up the different years of transmissions. I read that the 45RFE was the replacement for the 48RE which is what I have. So I assumed that meant it came in the year after my truck. That was just an assumption but that was not the case? Thanks. Not sure where you read that, but I'm sure it was incorrect. 2003 and older Cummins have the 47RE (or 47RH if older), 2003.5 to 2007 with the 5.9 Cummins have the 48RE, ad 2007.5 and newer with the 6.7 Cummins have the 68RFE. The 47RE(RH) and 48RE are 4 speed autos, and the 68RFE is a six speed auto. I don't know about a "45RFE", but there is a 545RFE which is used behind 4.7L v8 and 5.7L Hemi. Prior to that, the v8 Magnums in the Rams used a 46RE and prior to that 46RH which is what my old Ram has. The 46RE(RH) is a four speed auto, and the 545RFE is a five speed auto. Probably really confused you now huh? :W Haha, yes! I am very confused now. I will just answer with..."My truck is black and it pulls a trailer" :)

RE: Golf carts, stay on the course

The campground I was at last weekend was pretty small and family owned. There was only I think around 8 sites from end to end looking at the long side. The lady owner lived on one end in a house. She had a golf cart to drive from one end to the other to tell a camper something. I thought that was pretty funny. I am pretty sure she walked fine because I saw her walking before and after. Anyway, I am going to guess that 80 or more percent of the time, people would have absolutely no need for a gold cart but then I see all the massive/over weight people driving golf carts on a golf course while playing golf. Huh... I think they drive it because they can, not because they need to. Having said that, there are lots of people that don't look like they need to be on a motorized vehicle of any kind but must out of necessity. A friend of mine is in her 30's. Looks like she is in fantastic shape but she had a stroke that put her in a coma for two weeks and took 1.5 years of therapy before she could even walk. She now has a handicap parking pass on her car and people give her dirty looks all the time because she parks in the handicap spot as a healthy looking young person but the reality is that she can't walk a short distance without a lot of effort. My wife and I camped this past weekend in Oilver BC while wine tasting. We parked the truck and never unhitched. We took our bikes and rode everywhere. Climbed the mountains to get to the vineyards, rode in to town to have dinner with a friend and rode to the next town about 21 km away (13 miles) to get ice cream. Man, that ice cream tasted good after the 30 degree celsius (86 F) ride in to headwind which climbing. Lol. We are bringing our road bikes next time. They are faster. We are going to ride from Oliver BC to Penticton and back. That's much further, around 80+ km round trip. That should be fun.

RE: WARNING: Almost a Horrible Accident

I don't have a picture yet, but picture for yourself the two king-size bunk ends meeting tight in the middle (the doorway is slightly to the right of middle) --- wham! The next time we closed it up, he positioned himself about 10 feet away. Lesson learned. Wow, The RV is so small that when you stick your head in the door, you risk getting your head smashed by the bunks coming together? Sounds like the RV designer likes to play with jig saw puzzles. Lol. Glad it worked out in the end. I am surprised your son only stands 10 feet way when pulling camp now. I'd be around the corner hiding behind a tree.

RE: I believe in engine brakes!

Doznfire, I bow in your general direction. Lol. Heck of a truck. A bit of over kill for my little 22 but maybe if I got money to throw away. Shoot, I think I can just load my 22 ON the back of your truck and drive it that way. Joezilla, Glad you are a conservative thinking/planning driver. Drive the safest set up possible. Good on ya for thinking ahead. Thanks Oldtrucks, even though you unsubscribed. lol. surveyorjp, Thanks for clearing up the different years of transmissions. What is black cage thing under the wheel of your trailer? Great idea about your set up, I am guessing it was meant to be used with a bucket before?

Just out of curiosity as I don't know how your bunks are situated. In the closed position, how close is it to the door? Got a picture? I can't really visualize how it's suppose to look.

RE: how do slide outs work

Most if not all slide will have a manual crank in case of total power failure. So if you are dry camping and do not have a way of regenerating power from sources such as generator or solar panel, at least you can manually crank your slides in should your batteries fail. Good luck.

RE: What is a "professional" camper?

Well, I suppose if they were paid to camp, that would make them professional campers. Was their RV decked out in sponsorship logos?

RE: I believe in engine brakes!

DJ, Looking at your picture and reading your post reminded me of my drive. As I made my way around the tightest corner on HWY 3 going out of Princeton. There were a train of 5'vers and TH coming down the hill and we met at the apex of the corner. These were big rigs, all were in the 30-35 foot range and all I could smell were transmission and brakes burning. I know for a fact that my truck made no such scent because I pulled over several times in that section to use the bathroom and did a walk around. I didn't smell a thing. So I guess good for me. Lol. I haul my mobile climbing walls around for a living as well. So I definitely log a lot of miles but never with a TT as heavy as my Fox loaded. I would like to think I can recognize that at some point this grade with the corner from hell staring at me is no longer a good idea without some help. :D

RE: Do you wave?

My problem is sometimes I have the urge to give a wave but often I notice that I can't actually see in to the other person's cab due to window glare. I kinda figure if I can't see them, they can't see me. But at slow speeds going through a campground, you betcha I wave! My wife thinks I am an idiot but I am driving so I get to do what I want. lol.

RE: Hello

Congrats and welcome to the forum. Can't beat $150.00. I think the propane tank is almost worth that. :) Why build a portable toilet for the wife when you can get one of these. Come on, you know you want to!
