RE: Transmission Temperature 2001 Southwind

My tranny temperature runs about 179 according to my ScanGauge II. A friend of mine wo owns a transmission shop said as long as it is below 200 it is good.
My clutch fan kicks on about 206.

RE: HWH Customer Service

The last info I saw on HWH was they will only talk with dealers.
They no longer take calls or sell parts to the public.

RE: TV antenna

You can get a Jack antenna that mounts to the roof so you don't need the crankup.

RE: Anyone use Chinese Front Tires

I have Cooper Chinese made tires on the front of my motor home.
I've had two American made Goodyear tires with holes blown out in the side walls when almost new.

RE: route 79-77-64 west virginia

You will have one long hill on Rt. 19 between I-79 and Beckley. It's still the best route. You will go across the New River Gorge Bridge before you get to Beckley. You should stop at the visitor center on the left, just before you cross the bridge. There is an overlook you can walk to where you can see the bridge. You can't see much as you drive across it.
After hitting I-64 in Beckley you have one long, steep hill to go down, Sandstone Mountain. Just gear down and slow down and it is not a problem.
It is a nice, scenic route. Have a safe trip.

RE: ford F-53 front springs

My left front started sagging about 3 years ago. I checked with the local spring shop and they suggested I add an extra leaf to the springs. I did that and it sets level now. It does have the rough ride the F53 is known for.

RE: How much would an electric awning cost?

I bought an electric awning off eBay. It kept my original awning and just replaced the arms. I installed it myself and have been happy with it.
It is a Carefree and it was on sale for $329. That was about a year ago.

RE: Touch-Up paint

If you can remove something that has the color you want, like the hot water tank door, you can take it to NAPA or some other paint stores and they can scan it and match the paint.

RE: Steering tires

My Goodyears did the same thing.
I moved them to my tag axle and replaced them with Coopers.

RE: Tire brand help

I put two Cooper Roadmaster tires on the front of our mh last winter while in Ocala, Fl.
So far I like them fine. The only negative I have is they are made in China.
But, after two blow outs on American made Goodyears, I was willing to try the Coopers.

RE: intermittent starting problem

My brother-in-law has the same problem with his Cummings. He put in a new ignition switch and it did not help.
He has been checking his ground wires but hasn't found anything yet.
If he figures it out I will let you know.

RE: Question on Scan Gauge II, F53 chassis, V-10

Mine has never gone above 175. That is towing a car up a long grade in the summer months.

What is this?

My brother-in-laws 1999 Bounder, with the 454 Chevy, would not start. The dash lights worked but there was no power going to the starter or headlights. I checked the battery terminals and ground to the motorhome and it still would not work. Battery had 12.6 volts.
The fuel gauge was pegged past the full mark. We noticed that the fuel gauge returned to normal and it started fine. No idea what we did.
I'm trying to figure out what the below thing is. It is the one with the white thing on top and the wires connected to the side of it. There is a cable going to it from the ignition key (that is the white connector at the top of it). When the key is turned the plunger goes up and then down. It was too hot to touch, but after it started and I drove it home it had cooled down.
Can anyone tell me what this is and what it does?

RE: Local TV stations on DISH Network

My stick home is in WV. I use a receiver from the house in the motor home with a Dish 1000 dish. I get my local channels as far South as Homestead, FL. (that's as far South as I have tried)
