RE: beef jerky

...Can do with ground meat but very sloppy.
I use an American Harvest Jerky Maker to squeeze out strips of seasoned ground beef. Not messy at all.

RE: Hail damage insurance claim

Is it just me or what...this thing about getting the big cheque, doing the work themselves and pocketing the change. I guess it's the 'norm' but reads kinda off, to me. Maybe not..I'm willing to be schooled on it.
Gary Haupt
All else being equal, if a person does the work themselves and 'pockets the change', that 'change' is what they're getting paid for their labor. If they work as slow as I do it's below minimum wage. Does that make it sound better?

RE: Hail damage insurance claim

...Remember, the adjuster's job is to minimize the costs of any claim...
Not true. The adjuster's job is to pay what's owed under the terms of the insurance contract. To do otherwise would be illegal and unethical.

RE: entry door replacement glass

Could always go to Lowe's or HD and get a piece of plexiglass and cut to fit.
X2. Or Lexan. Much more impact resistant.

RE: Bypass Houston

If you don't like TX-105, you could take Beltway 8 (Sam Houston Tollway) north from I-10 to I-45. It's a no-cash tollway, meaning you have to have a toll tag or use the free feeder roads that parallel the tollway.
Tollway website for that road segment.
I use our NYS Thruway's EZ-pass tag. I wonder if that would work in TX?
Sorry, the EZ-Pass won't work.

RE: Antenna to HDMI Conversion?

It's a puzzle why a simple A/B switch won't work??? But about the only way to get directly from antenna to HDMI is an external tuner, which can be purchase for about $100. KWorld at Amazon
Yes, it is a puzzle. The TV requires that I go thru the setup process every time I flip the switch.
The Kworld unit would work but has terrible reviews. The Channel Master CM-7001 still looks like the best solution.
Thanks to all!

RE: texarkana to victoria tx

US-59 is generally good road. There are a number of towns and stops, but it's not bad.
The best thing to do about Houston is check Houston Transtar for real-time traffic info so you know when to go through. Beltway 8 is a good choice (except rush hours) but you'll go through four toll booths. Don't know what that will cost.

RE: Antenna to HDMI Conversion?

I know this does not address your exact question but if you would be willing to go the HD component input route you can get an older model DirecTV receiver that can be used without a subscription. The one I have is an old Samsung SIR-T151. They come up on Ebay at times.
Great idea! However, I don't have an available component (or composite) input either. It's gotta be HDMI. It's a new Panasonic with one coax input, one component or composite input, two USB inputs and four HDMI inputs.

RE: Antenna to HDMI Conversion?

The only other reason I can think of is if you are using the RF input (Antenna in jack) for something else, and a simple A/B switch can take care of that, cost a dollar at the Google store plus S*H.
As I noted in my prior response, a simple A/B coax switch won't work.

RE: telescopic ladders

My employer outlawed TeleSteps ladders due to the number of accidents. Xtend & Climb is a better choice.

RE: Antenna to HDMI Conversion?

Is the problem that you are already using the tv's antenna port?
Would a cheap antenna selector switch do the job? (A fancy one would have remote control.)
Yes, that's the problem. But you can't simply switch inputs and have it work. The TV needs to do a channel scan.

RE: Campgrounds Around Mobile, AL

I just spent a few days at Blakeley State Park north of Spanish Fort. Large, pull-through, very private sites. All are FHU.

RE: Antenna to HDMI Conversion?

Not sure if this is what you are looking for, but the Channel Master CM-7001 accepts atsc or Clear QAM digital and outputs HDMI HD and analog SD. HD converter boxes are pretty rare, but available. You won't find them for $40 though :).
That appears to be exactly what I need. About $130 (ouch!)
Thanks!

Antenna to HDMI Conversion?

I'd like to connect an antenna to an HDMI input on my TV. Digital to analog converters aren't right for the application. I need a digital (coax) to digital (HDMI). I don't have an available coax input for the antenna.
Any ideas?

RE: I-75 over night campground

There are two just off I-75 exit 76 at Berea, KY; Oh Kentucky on the right and Walnut Meadow on the left. There's a Walmart just across I-75 if needed.

RE: QUESTION: How much weight will a 4" tube bumber pull/hold?

It's not that it won't hold the weight when you're sitting in the driveway. The problem is when you're going down the road and the rear end is bouncing up and down the shock loads will eventually tear the bumper off.

RE: I-10 West through Houston

The I-10 construction is complete. Still, you should go through at non-rush hour times.
For real time traffic conditions go to Houston Transtar. You can use this site to see what times are best.
