RE: 2015 GM Heavy Duty - spy shots

The local Chevy dealer just announced the 2014 Silverado 1500 is in stock. Too bad it's $51,000.

Honestly any fuel injected vehical you should wait a few seconds to allow the injectors to fire, right?

Yep if you want a paper version you have to call for it within six months, otherwise all you have is a DVD. But you can play it with the radio (at lest the wife's 200 we can), as long as you have power.

Winter yes summer no. About the same routine as John. Although the Cummins does not use glow plugs but has a grid heater to warm the air. Still a good idea to wait until the light goes off before starting a clod diesel.

RE: Very major and costly recall for Chrysler pending

It is funny that it drifted to GM. A GM model that has been out of production for over a 1/4 of a century.
No whats funny (sad really) is the double standard a few members have here. Sorry TN made this post to slam Chrysler plan and simple. For guy that has been a automotive supplier as long as he has he fully knows that if Chrysler does have to cover the previously fuel system passed or bought off fuel tank by our Gov. They will send notices to the owners and if the vehicle has been sold most people already now know there may be a recall coming down the pike.
So his post was nothing more then a hahaha look at is happing to in his words the "joke of the auto manufactures Chrysler". Everyone knows he hates anything Chrysler and now Fiat. It's OK I feel the same way towards Ford.

Engineer9860,
Yes it is about a Chrysler recall and you are right as it's gone way off topic. So back on topic for me and I'm only going to post to the subject matter of the Chrysler recall issues.
Thanks

Wasn't this thread about a Chrysler recall?
We cn start one for GM if you like.
TNutz how about providing a link to the crash report if you have it then? It is customary to do if you are going to make reference to it.
Thanks Don

RE: Very major and costly recall for Chrysler pending

Lets get one thing straight here. If the Jeeps or ANY VEHICLE meets the regulations in place at the time the vehicles are built and there were no "hiding of the test resultants" as was the case in the GM fuel tank. That is what a GM insider stated along with memos found in the millions of documents supplied by GM found. Then how can the Government come back later and say there needs to be a recall at the Manufactures expense?
as for the GM issue it was being investigated long before 1994 TNutz. The tanks where moved in 1973 thru 1987! here "In June 1994, the Georgia Court of Appeals reversed the jury verdict in Moseley, finding that the plaintiffs had erred in presenting their case by referring to other lawsuits involving GM trucks." Note that it was a trial error that got GM the reversal, GM later settled for an undisclosed amount.
Will look up the police report to refute your claim that "It states that any other pickup in a similar violent high speed side crash would likey experienced a ruptured fuel tank also." I bet I don't find it!
BTW Mr. Moseley's truck was a 1985 and the crash was in 1989, so care to tell me how it was a "very rusty". I thought that only happened to Ram's, that's what you said in a different Chrysler slam fest. Give it a rest man, try posting respectful posts for a change, you a grown man act like it.....Please

RE: Very major and costly recall for Chrysler pending

Transportation Secretary Federico F. Pena said yesterday that a two-year Federal investigation of 4.5 million older General Motors Corporation pickup trucks had found that the trucks posed a fire hazard when hit from the side because of the placement of their fuel tanks.
Mr. Pena also said that evidence reviewed during the Government's inquiry suggested that the No. 1 auto maker knew before it sold the trucks beginning in 1973 that placing the fuel tanks outside the pickups' body frame could pose a danger, but it went ahead and sold them anyway. Since then, Federal officials estimated yesterday, some 150 people might have died needlessly in fiery crashes because the original placement of the tanks allowed them to be easily punctured during side-impact crashes.
"G.M. management in place at that time appears to have made a decision favoring sales ahead of safety," Mr. Pena said at a news conference in Washington yesterday.
In trading on the New York Stock Exchange yesterday, G.M. stock closed at $46.625, down 75 cents.

A former engineer for the General Motors Corporation told a jury here today that company officials believed in 1983 that the fire-safety design of some of its pickup trucks was "no longer defensible."
The engineer, Ronald E. Elwell, who worked for the auto maker for about 30 years as a safety specialist, also said that some top engineers at G.M. had decided by 1983 that the vehicles' fuel tanks had to be altered. But the company did not change the design until 1988.
Mr. Elwell gave his testimony in a lawsuit here brought against G.M. by the parents of Shannon Moseley, who was killed in 1989 at age 17 when the pickup he was driving was struck in the side and erupted in flames. G.M. has maintained that his death was caused either by injuries sustained in the collision or in a fire unrelated to the fuel tanks. 300 Attributed Deaths
Mr. Elwell's testimony is attracting attention because he has never testified against G.M. about the fuel tanks, and as a result of the settlement of a lawsuit he filed against G.M. he is restricted from testifying in other cases.

A state court jury today held the General Motors Corporation responsible for the death of a Georgia teen-ager in the fiery crash of one of its pickups, finding that the company had known that the trucks had a defective fuel-tank design but that it had failed to correct the problem. The case has been closely watched by the car industry and safety experts.
Already reeling from more than $10 billion in losses in the last seven quarters and the resignation last year of its chairman, Robert C. Stempel, G.M. now faces negative publicity and possible economic fallout from the Georgia case. A former G.M. safety expert testified at the trial that the company had intentionally misled the public about a dangerous safety problem. Besieged by Problems
G.M.'s stock closed today at $37.75, down $1.375, as the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained almost 43 points. The news of the jury's award came a day after the auto maker announced disappointing January car sales and saw its credit rating lowered because of huge pension obligations.
They flat out know their trucks were death traps and kept right on selling them.

Well maybe Chrysler can dodge the bullet like GM did. You know what I'm talking about TN, remember they thought it was a good idea to mount the fuel tank on the onboard side of the frame. Yep no recall for those trucks.

RE: 6.4L Hemi in 2014 2500/3500

The thing you need to remember with duals is they can not touch on the inside. I would worry about that at that PIS. Off the top of my head I don't remember what the gap is suppose to be, but if it were me I wouldn't go under 60 on the front and rears. I run 60 on the front and empty 65 on the rears. But that's me, i don't mind the harsh ride of the truck.
