RE: Using "maneuvering" position on slider

Never lower my landing gear. Just move handle and put trailer brakes on. Full forward and its done.

RE: Going to a larger fifth wheel. Thoughts? Help!

We went from a 9 ft Slide in Truck camper with a slideout to a 41ft 5th wheel and love it. It was nice to be only 3ft longer with the camper and also take the boat along. But we love the room our Heartland Landmark Key Largo gives us.
But then again I drove over the road with a big truck for years so 53 down to this is nothing.

RE: Signs

I built a pole out of PVC parts and mounted a light on top. Cut out a sign on my scroll saw. Took a few hours, but enjoyed it. Also made a few for good friends for gifts.
Lots of good ideals out there on these.
Does not have the sign on it here.

RE: Help- we found crack in frame

Doesn't matter who builds them, there's no reason for failure period. The RV industry will cut corners worse than anyone else. I'm just glad Lippert doesn't build planes:)
But they do Build Planes... Plane old frames, I always say they build them to what the company wants. But also think there using China Steel that is junk. Thus it may fall apart if you hit a bump.
I did see a guy in East Tn in April, he was dragging his new camper over curbs and ditches trying to get back on the road. First though was this guy will have frame issues and blame it on someone other then his self..:(
To the original poster hope you get your frame fixed and never have any issues again with it.

RE: 8'6" width concerns

The unreal part, when the company that pics our campers up. They have to get a wide load permit. But when we get it, no permit for over width. Never figured out why that is...

RE: lly duramax boost

That is a "Turbocharger Boost Control Position Sensor Performance" code.
you are over a grand for the part and install at a dealer (part is close to $700 for the lbz).
I ended up changing my turbo, to many possibility's of the vanes being choked with soot, and having to pay change it 6 months later.
Stock ~22 psi boost is all they make.
That is the code mine shows. Pull the Sensor pass side of the Turbo and clean it. All is well, this Sensor changes the fingers on your Turbo. If its not working, your Turbo is working at the default setting only.
Bolt under the Sensor is an 8MM 12 point socket. Its fun to get this bolt out.

RE: air bags strictly for comfort

I bought Rancho RS 9000 Shocks for our truck. Best thing I have ever bought for a better ride. Empty or loaded they do the job, only takes me 3 minutes or less to redo the sittings for the best ride.
RS-9000 shock link They also have the $100 rebate on a set of 4 shocks through June. That is what I used to buy mine, plus found them with 25% off from the seller. Think I had around $33. each in mine a few years back.
The only way the air bags will help the ride is if the tire pressure is set at what the Tire Mgf shows for your load. PLus less spring pack, as the springs are what makes it ride harsh.

RE: Towing 5th with mega cab DWR Short bed?

Got to love the mega cab!!!
http://i1096.photobucket.com/albums/g323/lmccalister/42011pics070.jpg
Sweet setup there. Unreal how the white with just a little color matches so well. Wife and I were talking about that color the other night.

Towing 5th with mega cab DWR Short bed?

How many are using this truck to tow there 5th wheel campers? Don't like Long bed trucks or DWR turck. But thinking I could live with the Dodge 3500 Mega Cab short bed DWR plus my wife likes it also.
It will be 2 years or so before we upgrade, and will be a 2013 or 2014 3500 Mega Cab 4x4 Short bed DWR truck.

RE: duramax temps

Mine has always ran cool, unless I'm loaded or towing. But get 19 MPG around home and avrage 23 on long trips even running 70+ on Interstates.
Towing I was getting 12 MPG hauling the 4000 lb camper and towing a 20ft boat. Now with a 40ft 5th wheel, it gets 10 MPG pulling it.

RE: Tonneau covers?

I have the Retrax, and after 9 years it messed up last week. But with the Limited lifetime warranty. There taking care of me at a price that makes me happy for the new parts.
Best cover I have ever owned. Works great with the 5th wheel or when just covering the bed.
They can't be beat.

RE: What to expect with a 20 amp hookup?

Hi Pete,
The fridge only draws about 300 watts.
Yes but when we had our Truck camper. If the fridge was on and we were using the Miocrowave. It would throw the 20 amp beaker at times. But also may have been something else coming on at the same time. So we would just set the fridge to gas when using the other. Also it was in cold weather, so the heat tap may have kicked in on the tanks also.

RE: television losing signal

FYI We use the pump only for 3 reasons:
1. We will always know when the water is running.
2. Easy to turn off the pump switch when we leave.
3. Should there be a leak with the pump on and we're gone any water damage is limited to water in the tank vs an infinite supply from the hose.
I understand that for sure. Hope your pump does not make the noise ours does.
Hope you find the issue on the TV, it may be the fittings to the TV also. I Know on both of our last ones. I have had to re crimp ends on all the cables.

RE: television losing signal

Have to ask? do you have water hookups there at the site? If so why are you using the pump? Being the water pressure off the hose will be enough.

RE: What to expect with a 20 amp hookup?

Don't forget the Fridge, if its on power that is a draw also. When were on 20 amp. I will shut the fridge off when using the other stuff. That or just run it off gas for an hour or so.

RE: Parking surfaces for 5er

Do what I did, Put down gravel. Then we have access to belting material from a Rock Crusher. So I put down these 1/4" thick belts 50 ft long and 3ft wide. Thus a cheap ground cover that keeps down the dirt. And with the 33 C or base/Crusher Run Limestone its just as good as a concrete slab but at a way better price.

RE: Simple Green

Be sure to read what the maker allows on there roof. Some items may cause the roof to wear out faster or cause issues down the road.
