The former KOA just north of Glendale. We saw it on the way past, but didn't stay there. Looked nice enough in passing. Bryce Zion Campground

RE: RV Park for Zion and Bryce NP?

We were just down there for a week in April. Stayed at the Hitch-N-Post in Panguitch and really liked it. Friendly owners working to improve their place, not far from downtown and the town had the best diesel prices we saw the whole trip.
When we went to Zion, we stayed at Bauer's Canyon RV park in Glendale. It was a nice enough park, easy in and out. But Glendale doesn't have much of anything and you'll end up going to the tourist traps or driving to Cedar City or Kanab for supplies.
Have fun while you're there, beautiful country.

RE: Provo, UT to Grand Tetons US-189 / I-80 / WY-89

We took the US-89 from Brigham City through to Jackson in 2010 and loved it. Beautiful scenery and a mild drive. Not too steep, not too narrow and lots more to see and enjoy versus traveling the interstates. Eurocamper has it correct, both the routes he notes are very viable.

uphillracer, the fittings on the shower hoses and shower heads are standard. The Oxygenics or any replacement head will fit.

RE: Zion and Bryce Canyon

We're finishing our weeks vacation in the area, 3 days in Panguitch going to Bryce and Kodachrome (don't miss that hidden gem!) and now 4 days in Glendale visiting Zion. Took the scenic drive across UT14. Beautiful high country drive, topping out over 9800 feet. Found the road to Cedar Breaks NM closed through mid to end of May with snow. Came through Cedar City to the Kolob Canyons section of Zion (another don't miss). Finally we went to Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park, just south of the UT-9 turn into Zion and just above Kanab. Great park for viewing, hiking and lots of ATV riding there. We looked and walked. Then drove to Kanab for lunch and on to Page, AZ and the Glen Canyon Dam. Wonderful trip and we know we missed so much that we'll be back again.

RE: Utah RVResorts and Campgrounds

We've been to quite a few of the state parks here and they accommodated our 40ft fiver and now our 40ft class A just fine. There are some that do not have sites big enough, but most do. The big challenge is getting them reserved early enough, especially around holidays. Stay higher in the mountains in the summer to avoid the heat. Beautiful country here, come on out!

RE: Nuances of driving a DP

frankiebill, we are just getting used to our "new to us" 99 DP. I'm finding I don't like the exhaust brake on with the cruise control, it does ok, but we get some hard shifting with some of the rolling hills we've been traveling through. Lots of cities have exhaust brake restrictions, and I'm fairly sure they apply to us too. I've been turning mine off when passing those signs. Haven't tried the transmission's economy mode yet, but will when we have a straighter, more level route.

RE: Contemplating the change

Sorry to hear of your loss. Just to lighten things up, I would suggest getting "How NOT to RV" by Jennifer Flower. Look at your library. She does a wonderful job of taking you through all the "Oopsies" that many of us have had and does it in a very light-hearted way. I would also suggest talking to the service department that your late husband used for recurring maintenance on your rig. A good service man could take you through set up and tear down in about an hour and if you take notes, you'll have a great starting point. Then give a weekend run to a nearby campground to get through the first time jitters. Then off you go! And the very best of luck to you!

RE: Zion and Bryce Canyon

Just finished our second day at Bryce! It was wonderful. Mid 60s and breezy, but light jacket/shirt sleeves weather. It's the free week, but the park wasn't crowded, no problems parking or getting to any of the viewpoints. We stayed about 20 miles away in Panguitch and enjoyed it. Prices are better here and I don't mind the little drive. One of the items I don't like about staying too close is the prices tend to rise quickly. We noticed today a $0.35/gallon price increase for regular. Thanks, we'll stay a bit further out.

RE: Running diesel overnight to stay warm

We maintain a fleet of equipment at the airport. Lots of the pickups and other equipment get long idle hours. We have a couple of 6.0 Power Strokes that we've had to rebuild the top end and EGR system twice in the last 3 years. Haven't seen the issue with 7.3's, but it's going to build up the same issues as the newer engines. We strongly recommend our operators AGAINST long idle times.

Ours are middle top and I like that layout. Moves the air nicely and they're out of the way when at the site.

We bought the brushed nickel one two years ago and took it with when we traded in the fiver for our class A. I'm a fan.
