RE: Overnight Near Sheridan WY

We spend a couple nights at the KOA. Nice place and we did a day trip to The Little Big Horn site. It just North of town. And they do have some Electric only sites to save a few bucks and some trees.

RE: I65 in Birmingham AL awful!!

I would stay clear of I59 in that area for the same reason especially between Gadsden and Fort Payne ALA... A big bump every 8-feet...
I don't know if any of that has been recently fixed or not...
Roy Ken
They have completed about 10mi of new road out of Gadsden and work is in process to patch the rest of I-59 to the Georgia line. They are cutting out small sections and putting in cement patches. It looks like they have also ground it down to smooth it out. Its a lot better but a good coat of blacktop would be great. This entire area is 55 mph although most of it is done.
I-459 in Birmingham is falling apart and on my last trip I used I-59 through town and it also had some bad areas.

RE: Overnight near Ogalla / North Platte, NE

Right at Ogallala -- Country View CG. Worked fine for us, nice pull throughs. Check the assigned site for mud, though.
We also stayed at Country View. It is South of the Interstate at Ogallala exit. Turn left at the John Deere dealership.

RE: Overnight stop between Twin Falls and Salt Lake area

A few years ago we stopped in Hagerman, ID about 30mi west of Twin Falls. Spent a few days checking out the area. We stated at Hagerman RV Village Nice little park with trees. It's on Hwy 30 just inside Hagerman.

I average 50mph and includes gas and rest breaks but keep lunch to a minimum. Do 250-300 mi per day.

RE: Exit Now Directory

According to overstock.com, the 2012 edition of Exit Now was published 03/30/2013.
But, it's out of stock.
Is Next Exit similar to Exit Now?
Next Exit is a very similar product but I like Exit Now better. Next Exit is arranged by State so when crossing State line you need to find the pages for the new State. Exit Now is arranged by Interstate numbers and it flows from state to state, I also like the ring binding.

Is this still being published? I have the 2011 and really like it but can't find any new versions anywhere.

RE: New Orleans

French Quarter Festival this weekend.
http://www.fqfi.org/frenchquarterfest/fqfi_music.html
They set up about 20 stages on the river and in the FQ. All local bands, great food and not crazy like Mardi Gras. Taking the ferry across is a good choice for this weekend.

RE: Durango/Silverton Train

I recommend Bus up and train back. Gives you more time in Silverton to eat and play tourist. Left side going back has great views of the river gorge.

RE: Black Hills

A small alteration to save about 30 mi. Exit I-80 at Ogallala and as you come over the overpass take HWY-30 West and pick up HWY-26 near the airport. This is the area the Oregon trail crossed the Platte River and followed the river Westward. Nice campground South of I-80 for an overnight before heading to Hill City.

RE: Best way from Galvenston to Beaumont

Moved more jersey barriers last night at the bridge between Beaumont and Vidor. I-10 is now 1 lane in each direction. Wreck west of Beaumont shut down I-10 for several hours. It seems that the section west of Beaumont around the Goodyear rubber plant is a magnet for wrecks.
Jim, did you get loaded up with boudin at Nicks?:@ I live just north of I-10 at the MLK exit in Orange.
Always bring an ice chest just for Nicks. Good homemade sausage also.
It seams weird living in South Louisiana and going to Texas for boudin.:B

RE: Best way from Galvenston to Beaumont

Hwy-73 from Winnie is 4-lane through Port Arthur, Bridge City and on to I-10 (parts are 6-lane). When leaving Port Arthur and across the TALL bridge into Bridge City it is 3-lanes but at the bottom of the bridge the right lane ends so get over before you reach bottom. Watch your speed through Bridge City (45mph). Before you reach I-10 there is a Pilot TS and across the I-10 is Flying J and a few regular station. Lowest fuel prices in the area although Bridge City has good prices also. Just came back for Port Arthur last week, visiting wife's family. She went to High School with Janis Joplin in Port Arthur.

RE: Ferry Arcoss Mobile Bay

Here is a link to the ferry.
http://www.mobilebayferry.com/schedule.html
It runs every 1-1/2 hr until March 11 then the 2nd ferry is added and it runs every 45min. It will run you $35 for the Motorhome and the toad may be extra. You can call and ask. There is an old fort on both sides and you can kill some time while waiting.

RE: Mobile Bypass

Use I-10 thru the tunnel. It is the quickest and easiest route thru Mobile.
The problem is he is not on I-10. He is coming from Meridian, MS and coming from the North into Mobile so no need to use the tunnel.

RE: Mobile Bypass

We have the directions from several sources recommending Hwy 45 (from Meridian)to I165 to I10 going through the tunnel. What about taking Baybridge (truck Hwy 43,16)route and to I10 on the east side of the tunnel? We will be pulling a 37' fifth wheel. Thanks,
The Baybridge Rd(hwy-16, Hwy-90) is a good 4-lane and a good route.
Hwy 45 is a good 2 lane. From Hwy-45 take Hwy-158 (Industrial Parkway - 4lane)to I-65 then South to I-165 and then to Hwy-90,Hwy-16(New Baybridge RD). To get back on I-10 the entrance ramp is about a mile and a half pass the Battleship Alabama or just stay on HWY 90 across the bay and it will take you to I-10 on the East shore.

RE: RV park in or near San Antonio

I like Travelers World.
But don't follower your GPS as it may route you through some low clearance. From I-35 or I-37 take Hwy 13 (SE/SW Military Dr) to Roosevelt Ave.

RE: Papa Johns sued for unsolicited texts

Looks like a group of independent franchisees are the bad boys in this case.
Caroline Oyler, Papa John's senior vice president of legal affairs, said the company plans to appeal the national certification ruling, which is preliminary.
She said it was not Papa John's text messaging program, but it was a third party vendor, OnTime4U, that a small number of Papa John's franchisees used years ago.
"We will continue to aggressively defend the case," she said.
She said the company became aware a couple years ago that some franchisees were using this service.
"We communicated some concerns that we had," she said. "It's important to note these are independent businesses. We can advise but we can't dictate how they run their businesses."
