....@SolidAxleDurango - We also plan to have a drive-thru garage, with doors on front and back, as this building will straddle a crushed asphalt driveway that goes from the front to the back of our house. Ours will be much narrower than yours, however...
Currently leaning toward 12x14' insulated doors with 16' interior height. Still contemplating the length and width. Some of that decision may be based on site considerations: setbacks, a ditch easement we need to work around, etc.
Anyone have any pricing thoughts? Cost/sq. ft. ranges? Right now I'm mentally in the 20x40' ballpark, but need to draw it up and use a tape outside to see how it fits my vision. An added cost is that we'd prefer to match the exterior of the house, so we'd probably do stucco/stone instead of a steel building. I'm afraid to find out how much that will add...
This layout planner works pretty dang well.... Free and if you sign up for an account, you can save your ideas... Export them to JPG (like I did above).... And they don't spam you in any way.

My only immediate though about your plan is for the future RV... Or for resale... Soooo many RVs are in the 40' range that at a minimum, I'd make the shop 45' or 50' long.

Other than that, I don't see the need to measure it. As long as I get to the other side, it's all good.

Oh.... This past winter wasn't too terribly cold here... Interior of shop never got below 40*F despite many lows below freezing (some mornings down to low teens).

I have 2007 Safari Simba, 38'gas. It has 50 amp service. I asked my electrician to install a 30 amp outlet at my home so I could plug it in the night before a trip and cool down refrigeration and run a/c. When I plugged it in today turned on a/c heard a weird noise and smelled smoke. Unplugged immediately. Started generator and found front a/c unit not working, 2 TV's and micro-wave not working. Called electrical company. The electrician on call happened to be the electrician that installed the outlet. When I described problem he said,"that's not a 120 is it. I was told to put in a 220." When I ordered the outlet I did not say anything about 120 or 220, it never crossed my mind, to me it was common sense. Obviously I'm not an electrician, but I would be interested in hearing from a couple to let me know if this is all my fault or does the electrician bear some of the responsibility?

They work as advertised. Be careful for how much data you subscribe to. Anything in excess becomes expensive.
You might also consider a smartphone doubling as a Hot Spot. Works well but you still have the data limits but save money on having a cellphone and a MiFi gadget too.
Rather than speculate on what is expensive, you can simply check with Verizon and find out what the overages are.
We live in a very rural area. I have a MIFI and it is my ONLY source of internet access. At home or on the road. We are very happy with it.

.....Anyway, back to the subject at hand. The electrician made a series of errors that are common, but inexcusable. First, the required receptacle is an industry standard TT-30. This device has "125v-30A" molded into the face. Ignoring this info. is inexcusable. The second issue is that the terminating clamps on the back of the device are color coded, brass, nickel, and green. This is a universal color code for where to land the hot, neutral and ground, respectively. If it was a straight 220V device, it would not have a neutral screw, just two brass colored ones, and a green ground terminal. Any competent electrician has installed individual circuit conductors thousands of times, following this procedure, as every 15/20 amp. duplex receptacle is marked as such. Third, in order to "stupid-proof" the installation, it is now common to see that the manufacturer has even molded the wire color, or abreviation (I.E. "White" or a capital "W") at the entrance to the terminating clamps. Bottom line is that the electrician made an assumption, and then proceeded to ignore a lot of visual clues that should of caused him to question his assumption. The responsibility for the error, and subsequent damage, lies solely with the professional tradesmen in this case, the RV owner is competely fault free, even if he gave the electrician incorrect info. ..

I am set up permanently, plugged in all the time, so I don't think I will be running off the battery/inverter if that makes any sense. Am I right or not?
If you are plugged in all the time you don't have to worry about much - other than ensuring your house batteries are topped off with distiller water.

When I had a hybrid, I felt 70.
With my TT, I felt 50.
With my 5er toy hauler, I still felt 45 despite the space - mostly due to,the riding...
With my current 5er, I feel 30 again....

all i can say is that i don't see very many who use a hybrid on a seasonal site.
IMHO, they aren't a good choice for this, especially if the tent ends are left open when you leave the campground.
So what you REALLY meant to say was, "Good that you recognize a hybrid isn't the greatest choice. But your idea to close up the bed ends when you leave is probably a good idea. Have fun!"
