RE: XLR 27hfs (Lost water)

I've read about this on other FR RVs. It is probably leaking out of the overflow as the water sloshes around it leaks out the overflow, then begins to siphon. Without good venting the siphoning continues. Some have installed a valve in the overflow line, the problem is that if you change elevation and the pressure builds and can't vent you can pop your tank.
There should be a proper fix for yours. Other users or your dealer may know about this and know the best way to fix it for your tank.

RE: Upgrading the exterior speakers.

Heads up to to those that may come to comment from outside the Toy Hauler group, please realize many of the Toy Hauler owners do not camp in campgrounds, they are out in the middle of the desert camping with miles between other campers. So before you make issues about loud music etc. know that unless you go with them camping, you'll probably never hear them.

RE: Spokane to Corburg Oregon

If you have the time, stay off the Interstates when you can. I drive often between the Tri-Cities and Eugene, if was going to scenery and not rushing it I'd take Hwy 14 (WA side of the Columbia River) to Hwy 97 South (don't go further on Hwy 14), take Hwy 97 south, you'll get some amazing views of the Cascade Mountains. From there you can cut across to I-5 by taking Hwy 126 all the way or cutting of at Hwy 20.
From Spokane you can go down to Hwy 395 but it might as well be an Interstate. I think I'd go south on 195 and head to Palouse Falls SP then down 260. You'll see a lot of the scaring done by the Ice Age floods through there.

RE: RECALL - Lite Cylinder Company, ALL composite Cylinders

Thanks Ozlander, Many of the Mods reposted it as it puts owners at risk. Thankfully doesn't appear many RV owners use them.

RE: Newbie needs some advice please!

I bought the extended warranty when we bought our motorhome, it's since paid for itself and then some (fridge died, converter died, something else) the fridge alone paid for it. However, these are negotiable if you opt for one deal with them. Make sure your dealer has a good relationship with the company and they don't require you to pay up front and get reimbursed.
Yes on the tongue jack. As far as the slide toppers, I say yes however if you camp in areas with high winds and little rain their value isn't as great.

RECALL - Lite Cylinder Company, ALL composite Cylinders

This info came from one of our forum Members in the Truck Camper group, passing it along in case any Toy Hauler owners have these.
---------------------------------------------
We have recently learned that The Light Cylinder Company, in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Transportation Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA), is recalling all LPG composite cylinders.
PHMSA has issued an “Emergency Recall Order” for all LPG composite cylinders manufactured by The Lite Cylinder Company as per the following Emergency Order No. 2013-002. The recall notice specifically identifies those cylinders manufactured under DOT-SP 14562 (and DOT-SP 13957 as authorized therein), DOT-SP 13105, any cylinder re-qualified under H706, and any cylinders manufactured under M5729. All cylinder sizes are involved in this recall: 10#, 20#, 25# and 33#
The emergency order is based on an investigation of Lite Cylinder’s operations and production history that revealed probable violations and unsafe conditions and practices that PHMSA determined present an imminent hazard to the public safety.
Under no circumstances should a cylinder affected by this emergency recall order be filled, refilled, or used for the transportation of hazardous materials.
PMSA advises customers to follow the guidelines provided by Light Cylinder Company below regarding the affected product.
To effectively comply with this recall, cylinder owners must:
1. Take proper safeguards in identifying and handling the affected cylinders identified in this order.
2. Cease use of all specified cylinders until notified of DOT response to Petition for Review.
3. Arrange to have all propane gas removed from cylinder. This should only be done by qualified persons, trained in handling cylinders in accordance with Federal regulations. (Note: All propane dispensing agents should meet this criteria.) This person must discharge all gas, purge, and remove the valve per the recall.
4. Return the empty, purged, valve-less cylinders, to the manufacturer, freight prepaid, at:
The Lite Cylinder Company
139 Southeast Parkway Court
Franklin, TN 37064
You may also find additional details about the recall in the PHMSA bulletin at:

RE: Brands that are not owned by Thor?

That doesn't leave much left for toyhaulers.
Thor has three of the big ones; Keystone, Dutchmen and Heartland. That said many of the divisions, particularly Heartland, operate very independently. Not sure I would eliminate any one group like Thor or Forest River completely.

Part of the price you pay for automation, in this case you need remove the weight from the hitch (your truck) for it to work.

RE: Used toy hauler Check list

First of all welcome to RV.net! You can find a PDI check list here. Need to also test the fuel pump so bring a few gallons of gas to make sure it works in case the gas tank is empty.
There are always units to avoid, the top of the page has info about the Weekend Warrior line, not all had issues but some did so I would say read the first bit so you know which units to avoid. Fleetwood line had major delam issues in about 2004, but those are easy to spot.
Key is to remember that you need to inspect any unit, even among a bad run there can be good units and even a really nice unit can have problems lurking. Leaking roof can damage the floor, aging tires need to be replaced, etc. I'd encourage you to spend some time here, read about problems people have as it can educate you to what to look for, and as you find a unit of interest do a search on it to see what's been said. Use the Advanced Search and search the posts from over 1 year ago too, after a year posts are archived so there is a lot of good info that's there too.

Grant, Welcome to RV.net I'm going to move your post over to the Tech Issues forum from Toy Haulers, hoping you get some additional replies and help for your problem. I agree with Donn though could be loose connection but it can be a challenge to track down the problem.

RE: Problems with fiberglass on front of Hobbi 260

Sounds like you know more about fiberglass delamination then most of us do. Sadly this happens from time to time, there were some units that had this happen a lot but I can't recall hearing about it on a Hobbi. You might want to talk with your dealer and/or a boat repair shop. I'd think that front panel will be hard to get smooth to match, but it's been 20 years since we dealt with fiberglass repairs on our sailboat.

Take a look, go to Camping World online and look to see if you can find a similar one. Or post a photo here and somebody can surely identify it.

RE: CA to Ruby's Inn Utah

Be aware that youth riders must have a youth off road licenseThat changed, used to a a simple text they would mail you. Now it's a $30 test per person. Looks just like the online Boaters test too. Also noted that no riders under the age of 8 - that will impact some families. I much prefer how Oregon did it, and that there isn't a fee.
Dats Zactly why you go to the snake avoidance class :W We left our dogs at home when we took our long Utah trip, figured it would be to hot and they'd be cooped up. We never did see snakes when we were out during the day, just that one at night. The funny part was the ranger came over to pick him up and put him in a big 5 gallon water jug, he was going to leave him in there for the morning rangers - guess that was ranger humor!
