RE: Weight Distributing Hitch Problems/Set Up

Never had a 250 but I did own a 350 and had a trailer that weighed 11,000lbs and it didn't drop enough to even notice, I have talked with a few guys who had the 2500 chevy's and the F-250 fords and they had issues, one of the guys with the ford just added the extra spring that the F-350 uses, not replacing his just adding one he stated that it took care of his issues. The excursion is built on an F-250 frame and springs, maybe the air bags will fix your issue.

RE: Ticking sound from engine when the coach engine is off

I have the workhorse chassis and it does not have any ticking sounds from the engine department. The only ticking that I've ever heard was the hour meter when the generator is running.

RE: Looking for info between the Ford V-10 & Chev 8.1 engines.

The Ford does rev up higher in rpms. I've had both in the past year and I love the Allison transmission with the brake, it being 6 speed you will get just a little bit more on the fuel mileage not enough to get excited about. I traded a 2004 bounder 35E with a ford for 2007 Allegro Bay 37qbd and I always been a ford person, I am happy with the 8.1 coupled with the allison. Can't really go wrong on either one not a lot of difference the Ford is a little noisier due to the higher rpms. Test drive both you'll see for yourself. Have Fun.

Pine Sol /Pine cleaner NOT SO GOOD!!!

Read a lot of post where fellow campers were using Pine cleaners so I decided to get some information pertaining to the use of these chemicals, first I wanted to know of the toxins that were in the products since I have health issues that toxins are a nono. It is very toxic and has even been linked to the death of some small dogs especially if you use it to scrub floors. The other thing I found out was that it is not suggested to be used on rubber it will attack and soften rubber breaking down its make up I wrote to the pine sol website to get this info see below what I recieved from them. Reference Number: 7079530 Dear Mr. Bailey, Thank you for contacting us about your Pine-Sol Cleaner. We always appreciate hearing from our consumers. Unfortunately, this is not recommended for rubber. Again, thank you for contacting us. Sincerely,

RE: TiffIn Allegro Or Newmar Baystar

For deciding factors I would look at the following. 1. Layout which suits your needs. 2. Body condition and is one or the other full body paint, the stickers tend to curl and fade. 3. Tire size I've found that the larger 22.5 tires handles better than the 19.5, my experiences from driving trucks semis and 6 wheelers the larger tires track better on the road. I've never owned a Newmar I have test drove them, I now own a tiffin allegro Bay gas rig and I am very satisfied I am 6'4 and the 7' ceiling is a nice feature in the Tiffi especially the extra height in the shower. The other nice feature is the ac units the design that Tiffin uses has less air noise since the unit is off center.

RE: Newbie TV advice needed with proposed trailer

Sounds like you have done your home work on the towing capacitys (very important) for the safety of your family as well as others. The weight distribution hitch will allow you to maintain a level pull I would also get the sway bar when being passed by the big rigs you will get a side draft that will pull on the trailer. causing a push pull action. Hope this helps.

RE: Power Gear leveling systems

I have had issues twice in the past few weeks, once while I was having windows installed I closed up all slides tried to retract the jacks no response, checked all fuses all ok, all lights on the dash unit were on and blinking, called dealership where I purchased the coach, after talking with the mechanic I found out that to reset the unit you have to hold down all 4 of the directional arrows at the same time, I have had to do this twice , I believe that I have found the reason for the isssue, I turned the key on to check the radio fuse when I done this the jacks tried to retract, I pushed the off button on the jack display and I have had to reset the jack control, I found out that the coach should be running to retract the jacks due to voltage requirements.

RE: 2010 Winnebago 40L. . .from Hell !

I had a similar issue with a water flow issue and I found that it was the outside shower I had left the knobs open and turned the shower off at the shower head this let the cold and hot run together and it was uncontrollable in the coach, I would have it set and it would change to either all cold or all hot and then come right back where I had set it hope this helps

RE: I never take a full hook up site

I had a windsheild cover installed about a month ago the couple installing it install covers from florida up through virgina he was telling me about hooking up at a campground where he contracted meningitis he was in the hospital for quite a while and nearly died. So all be careful we all take short cuts especially when wrapping up to leave or when hooking up lysol and or bleach are good ideas with the faucet. Use gloves when dealing with sewage, remember after handling the sewer that someone else will be using the campsite, rinse your sewer hose with your grey tank not the potable water line.

RE: Towing my Hummer H2 with a 8.1 Workhorse?

Had a similar dilemma and had to get rid of the 6000lb vehicle, wanted to make sure that I done the right thing so I talked with many fellow rv'rs who were flat towers and tow dolly users this is the results of 3 months of discussions; 1. Flat towing; easiest to hookup initial price to get hooked up with a good towbar, brake box and install $4000.00- $5000.00 2. Tow dolly: w/electric brakes $2000.00-$2500.00 3. Flat towing advantages, easy hookup and no equipment to store. A. Flat towing disadvantages, Price$$$ was told and did notice that there is a lot of traveling back and forth with the vehicle being towed, believe due to wheel base of towed vehicles usally very small 4000lbs or less. 4. Tow dolly towing w/electric brakes, advantages price, width of tow dolly stops some of the sway. A, Disadvantages not as easy to hook up, need storage at campground.

RE: Ready to Start Permanent RVing: in what?

I've had all configurations fifth wheels, class c & class a motor homes and travel trailers, good and bad things about all, a class a with a diesel is very expensive to service, I owned one every time it went to the garage I spent over $1000.00 the service for a Diesel can run $500.00 or more. Fifth wheels being towed by diesel pickups I've found are the most economical I averaged 11.8 with a F-350 6.0 pulling a 36ft.coachmen still had issues with the diesel and the shops I took it to had Dodge's and Chevy's in there also I dropped over $1,000.00 on every visit to the shop. Class C I've had 3 all three leaked over the cab. Gas motor home I own one now with chevy 8.1 plenty of power, gas milage not good 8.7 if I watch how I drive doesn't change a whole lot when pulling my tow car.For the price that your talking about a travel trailer ultra light (4500-6500 lbs) with oposing slides and a half ton pickup is a good set up just my opinion.

RE: Class A or C for family of five?

I've had 3 class C,s and 2 class A,s my personal preference is class A,most class A's have more living space. My experience with class C,s hasn't been good all 3 of the class C units that I owned leaked over the cab, be sure to check for signs of leaks especially right next to the front of the bed over the cab and look for water stains on the curtains good indicator of leaks, sleeping room the C does have the bed over the cab that you won't find in the A series at least I've never seen one. I would look for a unit with opposing slides with 5-6 persons this is a nice feature. Sleeping is a concern being able to move around when everyone is awake is a bigger concern. Hope this helps.
