RE: Question on outside speakers?

It is clear that you have no idea of the origins of the term "blue-hair." Firstly, duh. The origin common knowledge. The recap is appreciated though. Secondly, it's a metaphor. We can't actually see anyone's hair color on these forums. Gotta bet back to licking the windows now. Peace.

Now you did it.......I think I hear the tree huggers!..:E I was so proud of myself for not mentioning the Greenies in the same post as the Bluehairs. :C BTW - Sorry code3run for the complete hijack. It couldn't be helped. :B

RE: Question on outside speakers?

Thanks for all the nice comments, especially the blue hair as it's better than no hair. Besides a MH I own a F350 and 5er but not a TH. In my many years on these forums this is the first where I should not comment unless I own one. You all seem to be a touchy group and part of the me generation. I ride dual sport and boondock a lot but usually camped besides a lake. The Desert is not my thing so maybe sound does not travel as far and loud as it does across water. Having to listen to someones hard rock from 1/2 mile away (sound travels that well across water) is not my idea of being a good neighbor and is not how I was brought up in the camping community. You were correct in assuming that outside speakers are not my thing and yes, I use headphones when watching my outside LCD and no, it's not becauses of the generator running as I have an inverter with lots of batteries to power it. Again, the comments come from a point of total inexperience. It's a shame you had a bad experience where you camp. Your river experience and our desert experience are apples and oranges though. Is our group touchy about this subject? Yep. Kinda like you're touchy about loud music at the river: it's intrusive. Likewise, the off-topic posts are intrusive. See how that works? And as far as the "me" generation goes, how insulting (and off base). :S You can see how we get "touchy" when folks wander into these conversations and make baseless judgments like these.

RE: Question on outside speakers?

Just to chime in with my own 2¢... Tolerance is a two-way street. The "Bluehair" threads follow a typical pattern where someone either innocently stumbles into a Toy Hauler thread without realizing it or intentionally jumps into the thread out of oneryness so they can pick a fight. Either way, the comments are generally the same: "Stop doing whatever it is that you're doing and start doing what I think you should be doing." Well, I guess they'd be right if we were in an RV park, but we're not and they're not in a park and they're not right. So the word "Bluehair" inevitably pops up to describe the person. Not once have I seen someone say "you old bluehair" or any other mention of age. The word isn't describing a certain age, it's describing a state of mind. It's a word to describe "them who are not part of us and are acting a certain way about it". However you say it or whatever word you use, the meaning is the same. We can be politically correct and substitute the term with another one, but what does that solve? We've abused our language like that for years with all sorts of different words. Every time a word is shunned, another one follows right behind it. Think of all the fun words we used to have to describe someone we thought was a moron. My favorite word when I was a kid (I can't say it anymore) rhymes with, uh, tree-guard. How many different incarnations has that word seen over my lifetime? I think the current version is "window licker". Anyway, hate the word Bluehair if you want, but another word will come hot on its heels. Is anyone using the word to disparage the elderly? No way. Frankly though, it's about the most decent term I can think of to describe some of the folks who rant on about the evils of outdoor speakers in a Toy Hauler thread. So tolerance? You bet, I'm all about tolerance. Even better than that, I appreciate, rather than tolerate people who were born different than me. But being born different is not the same as acting different. And if you chose to act a certain way, then don't act surprised by the consequences. /Rant

A match? Am I the only other person that had that as a first response? Nope. It's what Daffy Duck would do.

RE: Microwave broke, do i need a special one to replace it with?

I didn't know that lol. I thought it was 110v and 115v was some weird thing... Thanks! If you plug your 115v nuke into your 110v outlet the carousel will spin counter-clockwise and it will freeze the food instead of cooking it. :W

Jawbone Benefit Ride for Fallen Firefighters 11/14

I just hung up with the organizer of the "Camp 16 Memorial Ride & Poker Run". This is a benefit event for Los Angeles Fire Captain Ted Hall and Firefighter Specialist Arnie Quinones who were killed near Mt. Gleason in the recent "Station Fire". The ride starts at 10:00 at Jawbone station. The route goes north through Dove Springs and back. It's an easy family ride (more difficult options available). It's roughly the reverse of our route at the 2nd SoCal Rally. The plans are still coming together, but they're hoping to make it out to the Husky Monument to install a memorial plaque on Sunday morning, 11/15. Tickets for the Poker Run and BBQ are $40 for adults and $10 for kids 16 and under. They'll also have many items to raffle off for $1 per ticket (including a chance to spend a morning with the Mark & Brian show). RSVP no later than Nov. 7 at the numbers shown below. IMPORTANT: The website shown in this notice doesn't work. They're organizing this event on short notice and the person in charge of the website wasn't able to come through. http://www.flamingsquid.com/images/camp16ride.png This cause is near and dear to my family. My father was a County Fire Captain. The County supported my family with their massive support at my dad's funeral service and then held a full honor guard at his old station.

RE: Jaw Bone Venue

My wife's "non-desert" friend is getting married Thanksgiving weekend. What kind of******is that? I almost filed for a divorce when she told me she was serious. I had to stop laughing because I thought she was joking. Heck, I still might file before the weekend and go ride and then apologize later.;) Take your suit and tie with you out to the dez and then drive back in for the wedding. That'll show your wife just how awesome of a husband you are.

RE: Thanksgiving

Last time we tried to do that, no one was home except a "wild and crazy" dog who tried to "hump' my boots :E Went over to Teagle wash/Nathers place, no one home either, but at least no hyper dog to deal with :B Yeah - You're lucky he only nailed your boots. What about my poor dog, Roxy?

RE: Thanksgiving

Spangler...deep in the dez...surrounded by tons of friends...U gotta experience my week....if u have no plans I highly recommend it.... TT Thanksgiving Spangler agian Hoolies goin? I hope so!;) Looks like we are headed that way too site undetermined...... Maybe we will make another 100 mile run to randsberg, cal city, dove springs and back again! hehe Just to confirm, you'll be at the Rally/Notta Site (Searles Station / Prospector Camp) for the 11/14 weekend? We're looking at that weekend and that general area too. If that's where you'll be, then maybe we'll crash in with you. We're hopping to get a Spangler > Schmidt Tunnel > Jawbone ride in on Saturday. The details are still loose, but we'd probably leave earlier than usual (8:00ish) so we can get to Jawbone in time for lunch. Hopefully they're having a BBQ that weekend. Otherwise it's Slim Jims for lunch at the Jawbone store.

RE: Disneyland camping

Kinda depends on what you're looking for. If you just want someplace cheap and close to crash, then here's one I can recommend: http://www.anaheimresortrvpark.com/ We stayed there last Fall. It was kind of "interesting". There were a lot of people who were full time residents. Many of the sites had street addresses instead of space numbers. But you're just looking for someplace to park the rig (assuming you're spending the whole day at the parks). You can see the fireworks from there. We had a good time in the pool/spa one evening when we didn't close the parks. There's also a shuttle that takes you back and forth to the Disneyland gate. It's hard to beat that.

RE: California Trailer registration fee

You need to sell your RV bro. I sold mine to my mom in Texas for $1500 ;) I love it! So maybe we need to sick John and Ken on Sacramento again. The last time they went on their Car Tax jihad they managed to get Gray Doofus recalled.

RE: Flat tire question?

I will try the water thing and then I may just have to take the tire in. Might as well take it in. It's cheap insurance. How much tread do you have left on the tire? Maybe replace the tire while your at it so you feel like you got an upgrade for all your effort.

RE: Buying Online - info needed

Too bad no one trusts one another any more. It's not as simple as it used to be, since the customers are more solvent than the dealers these days.

RE: Good Bye Yellow Brick Road....(So Cal Style)

Or as an anarchist friend of mine recently said, "fine, take away all the land, when I have no place to ride, I'll ride anywhere". Unfortunately that's where we're heading if we contiunue to loose the lands we have. Is that what the Leaf Lickers/Tree Huggers want? I don't think so. As a matter of fact many are coming to realize that very fact and are supporting our fight to keep areas open. That's an interesting image. Just think of how busy the LEOs would be if riding were outlawed and they had to chase us all over creation. They'd run out of resources and finally have to wave the white flag and decriminalize it (like prohibition).
