RE: Need Help with HARD sided A Frame Trailer Purchase !

I have the Rockwood A128S for about two years now and the DW and I have been very happy with it. The quality and finish are comparable to others but we felt we got more "Bang" for the buck with the Rockwood. While just about everything on the Aliner and Chaket where options at a added cost, the same options on the Rockwood where standard. We have put over 6,000 miles on the unit and have had no problems with anything. We have no Aliner or Chalet dealer in our area so Rockwood was the only one we could see in person. Everything else about the Aliner or Chalet we could only see on line and read on other forums around the web. Good Luck in your search.

RE: PUP Awning worth the darn?

When we had our PUP, I was as frustrated as everyone else with the bag awning and decided to replace the awning with a cutom made awning from Carefree that attached to the side of the top and used a handle to roll it out and back in. When I was told it would cost a mere $650.00, I decided that the bag awning was ok.

RE: Getting Itchy

Took the cover off the camper today and started to load it up. Road Trip this year is to Yosemite National Park and then down to Death Valley National Park and then head home. All demands on reservations on April 15 start date. Will be going out in a few weeks for a few days, have to wait for DW to get time off.

RE: What is your longest trip time wise and mileage

We have a Rockwood A Frame Hard Side Camper and last year went on a trip of 3,000 miles in two weeks. Drove about 500 miles a day which is plenty for me these days. We averaged 60-65 miles per hour and finished the trip with an mpg average of 14 mpg. With the gasser I have, I was very pleased with the mpg. The A Frame towed like a dream and we never knew it was back there while driving. Had plenty of room for the two of us and had no problems at all. We throughly enjoyed our trip and the A Frame. My number one concern during the trip was the small tires on the A Frame. I kept them at 65 psi as recommened by the tire specs and had no proiblem at all. We had a tent PUP and when it rained, hated putting it down when wet and then driving all day to our next desdination so the A Frame was a dream. Good Luck in your descision.

RE: 2008 Avalon or Sun Valley

I would also go with the Avalon because of the kids. Room will be at a premium with seven people. Another consideration would be the re-sale valve when or if you decide to upgrade. Good Luck on whatever your choice is.

RE: Is it that time of year again?

After getting 9 inches of snow this weekend, my getting the camper uncovered has been delayed a few days. Forecast is calling for some real nice sunny days so I am hoping that snow melts fast. I have had that itch for a couple of months now and am ready to scratch.

RE: Getting back into PUP'S......

DW and I went with a Rockwood A Frame when we down sized and we have been very happy with the quality and workmenship. Very easy to set up and take down. Takes less than a minute either way. Did have a Jayco P/U years back and was also very happy with it.Good Luck in your search.

RE: Are there energy efficient heater fans?

When I have no shore power available I use a Mr. Buddy Heater. It does the job for me. Just remember to vent the camper.

RE: Busting at the seams!!!

During all the years of backpacking I did, I had to make many repairs to backpacks and tents. One of the best ideas I heard of for small sewing repairs to canvas, nylon or whatever materail, was to use dental floss. It is very strong, was wax coated so it easily goes through materail and is already waterproof. On my last P/U I did a small repair where the kids broke out a seam and the dnetal floss held up for over 7 years and was good as ever when we sold the P/U. Just another idea to think about. Good Luck.

RE: Hard Sided Folding Pop Up Trailer Information/Reviews?

I don't have the screen room, too much money for me and all that I have heard from people who do have one, are split 50/50 over loving them or hating them. I would not put anything on the top lid of the front storage area. Just a plastic lid and would be difficult to secure in place. I put everything in the back of the truck.

RE: ?

I would first check with your insurance agent about filing a claim. To my surprise, my insurance company now will put any claim filed on your record wheather you take the claim or not, it's on my record. A few dings and dents are expected over the time you own a camper so I would just live with it. Besides, gives the camper some charater. Good Luck.

RE: Hard Sided Folding Pop Up Trailer Information/Reviews?

DW and I have a 2012 Rockwood A128S Hard Side and love it. It is easy to tow, easy to set up and easy to take down. You do have less floor space but with two of us we found it not to be a problem. We went to the Grand Canyon back in June and spent 14 days in the camper with no issues at all. Towed like a dream. As others have said, get what you will be happy with and what fits your needs. Good Luck

RE: Insurance for Aliner

As Hermes said, the prices for insurance can be all over the place. When I went to Good Sam, they right away wanted to insure my cars to get me the best price which was actually higher than some other places. I finally ended up going to where I currently have insurance, car and home, and got the best price for the buck. After over 10 years of RVing, I have never had to use it or never had to use the Roadside Assistance, knock on wood.Good Luck in your search.

RE: What to get? Jayco 2008 1207 or 2010 1007?

It sounds as though you have decided what best works for you and the family and that's what I would do in your place. The product you talked about for dampness removal in the winter is called Damp Rid. I have used it for many years and have had no problems with mold or smells. One thing I do in the winter is when the weather permits, I open up the camper and air it out real good. I wish you and the family Good Luck with new camper and hope you enjoy it for many years to come. Congrats.

RE: Emergency Road Service

Never have had it and never have needed it. Have looked into it but the price seems high. With never having it, I don't know if it costly or not.
