RE: Personal Epirb for boating-which one?

I suppose for the price they are all reliable. I am getting one, just wondered if anyone had actual experience using different models. The Aquafix seems adequate for price, but the rescue at $520 may be better? Actually I wish I could find a model that you can change your own batteries after 5 years. Thanks for inputs.

RE: Negotiating Help....First purchase

All of the above advice is excellent. Low ball offers will help you determine true bottom lines, so don't be afraid to use them. And willingness to walk away is a necessity. I had a salesman wait by the restroom to let me know he would accept my offer after deal supposedly fell through. You help all consumers by using good negotiating skills. Good luck, and after it is all over, don't look back.

Personal Epirb for boating-which one?

Which personal epirb or emergency tracking device do you use when on the water? We kayak and use a small fishing boat in the Keys. Would like to purchase a small personal 406 epirb can use in any vessel. Which one do you use or would recommend? I would prefer to be able to change my own batteries and do signal registration on line. Reliability is of course important, and would like to save some money as they seem to be very expensive. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Here near I-71 and I-271 in Ohio, the winds have picked up tremendously in the past 10 minutes.

RE: HDT/5er vs Class A MH

Good replies to your question. We also sold our mh 2 yrs ago for a fiver toyhauler to put our boat in and haven't looked back. So much roomier for snowbirding, we have our truck to run around in , and our boat for fishing.

We agree with craigslist suggestion-sold our mh on it when other adv. failed. Also bought our pu truck from it. Good luck.

RE: New to Forum and to RVing

I have no idea about your particular model price, but, others on this forum have recently suggested 30-40% off of msrp for new rvs. So your offer should be south of that in order to arrive at a good deal? Good luck on your negotiating and remember that the worst thing they can say is "no" to your offer. It is nice to save a few bucks for all the extras you will need for a new rv.

RE: 1st winter south

We also use the I-77, 26, 95 route from Akron in January. After you clear the WV turnpike the road really flattens out the rest of the way. WV Odot is excellent about keeping the turnpike clear. Just be careful of ice storms/black ice in the Carolinas during your trip. We just park the unit until it melts, usually in a few hours. Temps don't usually stay that low in the south. Oh, and 77 is about 200 miles shorter for us. Enjoy your snow birding!

RE: WISE GUYS RESPONDING TO POSTS

As Dr. Phil might say, most folk who like to pick on, degrade, or try to diminish others have a huge self confidence problem themselves. So, this forum becomes a good venue for them when others in their lives won't let them get away with it on the daily basis they need. Others are tactless in their approach because they probably have poor interpersonal skills? What they don't give others credit for is our ability to recognize their inadequacies. Yep, just my humble opinion for today.

RE: Dashboards cracking and collasping

Thanks for providing the info on this, Capt. I for one don't care what age, or reason is for good info. Like a library, I can choose to utilize, discard, discuss, evaluate, and free to reach my own personal conclusions. May our great Republic or individuals therein never endorse selective "bookburning!

Maybe the driver thought he(she) would get a nap too, while rest of family was sleeping in the camper? Just glad no one was seriously hurt.

RE: Advertising

When I see such sayings, I assume the owner is conservative and possibly inflexible in dealing, ideas, beliefs, and maybe behind the times. That is just my take, from a life time of dealing with similar folk. Thus, I am a bit judgemental, and try to avoid letting that cloud my opinion. Actions speak louder than words in the final judgement.

RE: How much off MSRP?

We got 42% off msrp for a fiver toyhauler already on the dealers lot. This was 2 years ago. I would think orphans or long term lot sitters might induce larger reductions?

RE: In the middle of a dealer/manufacturer turf war

I think you are right that there is not a regional dealer violation if you were to explain that, for whatever reason, you find the first dealer most convenient to handle your service. Personally, I would walk away from Heatland and this so called "deal" and find another better deal elsewhere. With some dealers allowing 40-45% off msrp there should be lots of dealers willing to sell you an rv without hassle, shuffling you around, or pointing fingers at other dealers. In a capitalistic society, you, the purchaser are allowed to choose the best deal/dealer you prefer. Seems like Heartland would like to create mini monopolies for their dealers? They don't have your best interest at heart, so why should you put yourself out? Just mho.
