RE: Wife says I need to Vent (sorry)

Ford is admitting it was a bad weld, they have a tank ordered and it will be covered under warranty at no cost to me. The problem is that they don't want me to use it until the repair is made. Camping world has been more than helpful in this matter, they actually set up to appointment with ford and delivered it to them. One of the 20 plus papers you sign when you buy a new rv is that you understand that ford warrants the chassis, not CW or Thor. Thor has called thier Ford contact to try to get the tank faster but ford claims the middle of June is it. Everyone I have talked to has very nice but my brand new motorhome still sits.

RE: Wife says I need to Vent (sorry)

I was on the phone for 3 hours this afternoon went up as far as I could with customer service. They said all warranty claims are handled at the dealership level and that their Field Service Engineer woiuld be the one to OK the claim. The dealership refuses to patch it because of the liability, which I can understand. What gets me is they won't let me put a patch on it.

Wife says I need to Vent (sorry)

Picked up our brand new 2013 daybreak 32hd on 3/29 from Camping World. Everything looks great walk thru went well except the air mattress in the fold out couch was missing ( no problem Thor will send it)Got home and found a few adjustments needed to be made( all minor)actually had a good time going thru it while I fixed them. Then I crawled under to check the hitch and get some measurements for a drop receiver for the tow bar and I smelled raw gas. I found a very small pin hole in a weld on the bottom of the tank. This leak is so small it evaporates before it drips. Called C/W and they called Thor and they said they were sorry but it will be a ford warranty and I would have to handle that myself. I took it to a the nearest Ford truck dealership (2.5 hours away). Now they tell me it will be the middle of June before they can get a new tank to replace it. I said fine I will come and pick it up and put a J/B weld patch on it until the repair can be made because we have already made 2 trip plans for May. Now they are telling me if I patch it that could void my warranty claim because Ford will want the tank back so they can repair it and put it on someone elses new Motorhome. I am not Happy!!! Thanks for letting me vent. Jeff

RE: 2013 Daybreak ( leaking gas tank)

I haven't called them yet,but I will on Monday. I live in Madison, about 90 miles south of Indy and there are no Ford dealers around here that will work on motorhomes. CW did tell me that there are some authorized shops in their area that can do ford warranty work. The salesman asked us where our first trip was going to be ( I guess it will be back to the dealership) Jeff

2013 Daybreak ( leaking gas tank)

Just picked up our new Daybreak from Camping World yesterday, found several minor problems that I can can adjust or fix, But I was just under it looking at the hitch and I smelled gas, Sure enough the tank has a leak in the very bottom of the tank in the welded seam. It is not dripping yet just wet. Not sure what the fix for this will be ( repair or replace? ) Or who will make the repair. I bought in Greenwood CW just south of Indianapolis. I just put 80 gal in it on the way home. Jeff

RE: 50 amp Adapter ??

The adapter I am talking about would supply 50 amps. It has 2 plugs, one 30 amp and one 20 amp that feed a 50 amp receptical. Part# 25774 page 63 in the 2013 Camping World Master catalog.

50 amp Adapter ??

We should be getting our new Thor Daybreak in a couple of weeks. It has 50 amp service with 2 roof top A/C's. Alot of campgrounds we camp at only have 30 amp service. I saw where camping world sells and adapter that has a 50 amp plug that is fed from a 30 amp and also a 20 amp ( that is usally on most 30 amp pedestals). Do campgrounds frown on using one of these? Most campgrounds charge extra for 50 amp service. Jeff

RE: Coleman Road Trip ( seems way too HOT)

I am using a small throw away bottle of propane with the regulator that came with the grill. It is preset but it does have the set screw or plug on the side of the regulator, Not sure if there is an adjustment under the plug or not.

Check List for New Motorhome

I should be receiveing a new Daybreak 32hd anytime now ( its about 2 weeks late now). I have been working on an inspection list so I won't miss anything when we pick it up. I think my worst fear would be a defect in the paint, I payed alot of money to have full body paint and I want it right.I will check the roof , form and fit , oil leaks, coolant leaks, doors, windows, etc. Not sure if it will be winterized when I pick it up at camping world or if they will flush it out and run water through the plumbing to check it out.It would need to be re winterized because we still have a few weeks of winter left here in southern Indiana. Thanks for any tips Jeff and Nancy

RE: Coleman Road Trip ( seems way too HOT)

I read where people preheat on medium for 5 minutes before cooking. I f you do this on mine as soon as you throw a steak on ,it is BLACK!! and you more than likely have a fire. I have an infared heat gun, I am not sure how high it will go, but I will try to check the temp the next time I use it.

Coleman Road Trip ( seems way too HOT)

I have a Road Trip model 9949a and even on low it is way too hot.I have only used it about 3 times the first time I was using 2 solid gridles and had several hash brown patties on and I had to keep turning the grill off to keep from burning. I have tried to turn the knob to the right (just before off) to get a lower flame but this is hard to be consistent. Is it posible to adjust the regulator on these grills? It has a counter sunk set screw on the reg. I have not removed this set screw but I was wondering if there is an adjustment under this. Every one says these grills run hot, But mine seems to be a little too hot. Jeff

New Daybreak 32HD

We are are thinking about buying a 2013 Thor Daybreak 32HD. We have been looking all year and went last Saturday to Nashville,TN and we really liked the layout of the Daybreak, It has full body paint, dual A/Cs, 5500 onan. Does anyone have any concerns with this unit. We are going to wait until after the Indianapolis RV show in January. But this is in our price range ( under $100,000 )and we really liked the layout. Camping World Consignment Sales

Has anyone sold an RV using Camping Worlds Consignment Program? We are wanting to be in a new to us class a by next camping season, and am not looking forward to the hassle of selling ours.I am sure trade price would hurt but I am not sure what percent they charge to sell one either.By selling ours first it will open up a lot more opertunity to buy from privite sellers. RE: Smoke from Brake Buddy

I just got off the phone with the Ebay store that I purchased it through ( easysaledallas ).They were very helpful and understanding. They emailed a shipping label for the return and have already sent out the replacement. He even asked if I had a trip palnned that would require faster shippment. He said they sell a lot of these and have about a 2% failure rate and they take care of all of them. I am not going to give up on Brake Buddy because of this,They have been around a long time and the system could not be much simpler. Most people that own one love them and would not have anything else.

RE: Smoke from Brake Buddy

I think they are factory returns. I think it is an Ebay store that handles all of their sales. They are supposed to be tested and in new working condition. Just My Luck I got the on that sliped through the cracks.

Smoke from Brake Buddy

Well I tried to save some money and bought a used Brake Buddy Digital Classic on Ebay. This seller claims to have sold over 300 hundred of these. It looks brand new and was packaged with new break away wire and manuals. I put it in the passengers seat and went for a ride to test the unit. At first it seemed to work perfect ,and then it started to smell hot, I reached over and felt case in the area of the round Brake Buddy decal on the front of the unit and it was very hot, I unpluged it and then I started to see smoke and the smell was pretty bad. I was lucky to be sitting next to it because I believe it was just about to melt down. The heat seems to be coming from the top of the compressor. I have not contacted the seller yet but I have 14 days to return it. ( Hope That Goes Well ) Jeff
