RE: RV park close to Seattle/Pike market?

you have some pretty good suggestions here...you are pretty screwed though for anything close to Seattle. I wish I had some land near there where I could offer it up for rv'ers coming through town. This question has been asked before so I know people are coming here with their rv's.

RE: Recommendations for a preferred TPMS System.

I received our TST 507 system 2 weeks ago for our dual-axle TT, right before going on a 1500 mile excursion that we just got back from. It alerted me once when one tire hit the programmed "over 10 lbs. over maximum limit"...I had aired them up to the recommended level of 65 lbs. in lower 50's temps before leaving and wound-up driving in 85 degree temps. It also told me tire temps were in the 90's. Works for me.
BUT, and I'm planning on posting a separate thread with pictures on this after I notify the manufacturer, I have rubber valve stems and the stem-end mounted senors left little scuff marks on the outer edge of the aluminum rims, indicating they had flexed quite a bit. I'm not so concerned about the cosmetics, more so the amount of flex and wear on the stem. I'll be getting full-metal stems installed shortly.
Regards, BGood
i am pretty sure you will find that no systems out there with an external thread on transmitter will tell you that rubber valve stems are ok to use. They will specify metal stems only

RE: Tire Pressure Monitor

I have posted several times about my original pressure pro issues and then the 360rv system. Customer service has been good but there comes a point where I don't give a $%#$% about customer service if I have to keep using customer service to get my product working. Considering how little I actually use the product it is ridiculous how many issues I have had. I bought my 360 rv system in April of last year. We are right about the 2 year mark and one of my sensors just doesn't work. I assume it is a bad battery even after only 2 years.
I reset my receiver and reprogrammed every sensor and even moved this rear tire sensor to the front tires and still have a lost signal on my receiver. I either have a bad sensor or bad battery; either of which requires replacing the $50 sensor and paying shipping. I am really fed up with the system. I like it when it works right but hate it when I am spending money on it. I only got the upgraded 360 rv system because I was tired of the batteries shorting out in the original sensors and causing them to literally melt.
I emailed Debbie at Doran yesterday and again today. I need my bad sensor replaced for my trip this Friday. I don't a sensor being shipped to me anytime soon.
So I have driven my rv about 6000 miles since 2006 and have purchased TWO 6 tire monitoring systems. I am about to purchase my third just to get replaceable batteries that I can do myself. You do the math if I have to replace all 6 sensors at a cost of over $300 every few years. I am way the hell better off just buying a system that I can replace the batteries in and pay only about $20 every few years.

RE: Soldering instead of crimping

I work on new commercial aircraft for a living and as you might imagine, there are thousands of electrical connectors small and large on an airplane. They don't get soldered. They get crimped. They do have a few small wire splices that have solder built into them but 99 percent of the time everything is crimped

RE: Don't know what happened but it's bad

very unfortunate but something doesn't add up. You don't travel 300 feet through rough terrain and then through two homes before coming to a stop. There had to be something else going on here. The rv would have stopped before then.
And the news article about mom saving the kids lives by not 'rolling it' was bologna. I don't think there was enough driver experience or knowledge here to deal with a blow out.

RE: Which Android Dash Cam App is the best?

I would opt for a dedicated dash cam unit that uses a memory card, uses gps for location stamping, speed and time.
I have an Android based Galaxy Note two with a huge screen and have used several apps for recording while driving. They all have their strengths and weaknesses of course but you still have to mount your phone in an awkward place on the windshield, generally. They have to be turned on unless you have an NFC tag programmed and your phone can do NFC.
I also have a GoPro Hero 3 black edition camera that I have a mount for on my windshield. It is kind of a pain in the but for everyday setup and use. Plus it is pricey.
check out youtube for videos of dedicated dash cam products
Yes, I know this didn't answer your question.

RE: New converter or portable charger?

I'd suggest a PD9260 if you can find a place near your batteries for it. I replaced the 45 amp POS in our unit with the PD9260 and find it does a great job. Keeps the batteries properly charged while plugged in, and rapidly charges discharged batteries (we have 2 GC's). If you plan to get a genny, you'll need a 2KW unit (the PD9245 would work on a 1 KW genny). IF you get either PD unit from Amazon, get the pendant to manually control it.
Doug
I got the same pd9260 to replace the crappy magnatek battery boiler that came with my rig. I also got the remote charge wizard unit that allows me to manually switch from boost, to normal to storage voltages if I want to do something different than the charger decides it wants to do.
I also have the Trimetric battery gauge which I really like.
For the original poster, I would get the converter and try to plug it in when possible. I don't think it has to be an either or situation. Get a portable charger also if you wish. I would find a way to use an extension cord rather than hauling on and off the tongue.

RE: parking pad for 38 Foot Neptune

I can tell you that the floor in the Everett Boeing building that supports the 747, 767, 777, and 787 isn't 24 inches thick. Of course weather isn't an issue or heaving....

RE: No 12 v or 120 power

Sounds like you could have two problems. I can only go off my guess based on how my rv is setup. If you have no 120 volts from shore power or generator then you could have a bad transfer switch. If you have no 12 volts to your lights, from the batteries, then you need to check your batteries to see if you have voltage.
You also have 120 volt circuit breakers inside the coach somewhere and on the generator.
We need more information

RE: How to enjoy packing for a trip

Good question. I like to just grab a handful of stuff together and get going. The part that upsets me and gives me anxiety is when my wife loads box after box of******in the RV. I don't know why I get this way but I do.
Otherwise, making a list and taking what you need is important or you will find that you forget things.
I would also pack ahead of time. In addition, I have plastic see through storage boxes that fit perfectly in rv and I just take the boxes in the house to load them up. I bring them back out and that is about it.

RE: K&N air filters, help or not

I have used K and N's and I don't like them. Regardless of what you hear or read they do in fact admit more dirt into the engine. That is how they allow more airflow. Stick with a good stock air filter.
Having said that, I do have one in my RV because that is how it came. I bought the original paper filter but the filter housing was also changed by the previous owner so the paper filter didn't work. I don't put many miles on my RV nor do I drive in dusty, dirty conditions so I will probably keep the K and N on my rig.

RE: how do you like your SuperSteer trac bar? F53

I just got my ss401 trac bar from Hendersons in Oregon. I plan on installing it this week.
The wind last year driving from Eastern Washington beat the hell out of me. My RV's back end was all over the place.
Anybody else use the same or similar setup with good results in windy conditions? My rv is in my signature line.
Interesting, you are a senior member yet you have only been on WA. according to your map. Anyway, I have had my Trac Bar for 8 years and am quite satisfied.
Yeah, I even lurked on here for a while before "joining." I am in my early 40's and my wife is ten years younger. We are foster parents to a one year old that we are adopting and we already adopted her brother who is about to turn three. We also have a 16 year old and both of us work full time. We don't have time to drive many places at all let alone out of state. So if I get some time I would like to drive around a bit. It probably won't happen for quite a while

RE: surge protector

I don't have any first hand experience with problems but obviously you will find many here that have. I do believe in surge protectors and did buy the progressive industries portable one off of Ebay, several years ago. I got a really good price on a new one. I do wish I had gotten the hardwired version so I wouldn't have to worry about theft and forgetting it at home when I leave for a trip.
That said, yes, it is like owning a boat. I owned a 1968 Viking, double mahogany hulled boat with upper and lower stern. Neither the boat or RV are to be considered investments.
Do get a surge protector. I even installed a whole house surge protector in my home that wires into the circuit breaker panel.
