RE: China Bombs Got Me

DW and I owned a 1991 Dutchman and in the 15 years we owned it had 3 sets of GY Marathons on it and not a single problem, nothing. Our present Cougar has been thru a set of Duro's and a set of Tow Max Power Kings so far and not a single problem with the tires themselves, but did tear 2 of em up when the fender brackets (cheapo cr*p) came loose and peeled a groove down the center of the the tread (rear tire on each side but on different trips, one Duro & one Tow Max Power King) but they did not blow. We average between 8 & 10,000 miles a year so this spring we've decided to put a set of Maxxis on it. Guess we've been lucky.
PS I rebuilt both fender brackets so no chance of them coming loose again

RE: My Anniversary

Just wanted to let you know this marks my 20th anniversary of giving up work---and I'm only 57.
I didn't start RVing until a couple of years later.
I'm sorry Luke. I interpreted your statement wrong. At first interpreted it as hadn't worked for 20 years. Sorry ... I'm glad you enjoyed your job so must you didn't consider it working. I haven't worked a day in my life, but did retired from teaching at the age of 48 and haven't regretted a second of it. 64 now and lovin ever minute of what life has to offer me now ...Sorry again ..Congrats on your anniversary.

RE: US 550 Albuquerque to Durango

BillMFI, sure you were on same 550 between Bernalillo & Durango. I've driven it several gazillion times and have never seen it how you describe it. You got it confused with 491 between Gallup & Shiprock. Now that's a butt ugly drive.

RE: Phone Call from Good Sam ERS

I have already reported them to http://www.callercenter.com for unsolicited calls. Where else can I file a complaint?
Have you filed a complaint with the FCC. Go to the FCC Complaint website. I have on 2 occasions and the got replies back that both were taken care of & also saw on the news that they were shut down. FCC does take complaints serious.

RE: Another Rant - can't help it!!

It's sad to say ...but ...when you look around the country today at the behavior of young adults, allot of parents have done a very poor job of raising their kids and these kids are following what they learned.

RE: Scottsdale, AZ

DW & I just spend a week down in Mesa visiting with DS & his Fiancee. We stayed @ a hotel this time cuz the winds were to much to pull the TT down there. Hit there @ a good time, weather was still cool (mid to upper 70's). We went to a great Mexican restaurant for his birthday, Macayo's (fantastic food) on Dobson just south of the 60 and also he took us out to Usery Mountain Park for some hiking. A great time was had by all.

Trailer Weight

Evening ...I have a stupid question about figuring our TT weight. Our Cougar has a GCWR of 9450 lbs. Weighted loaded for travel, the axle weight was 7600 (truck scales) and the tongue weight (my Sherline tongue scale) is 920 lbs. Now is my trailer weight 7600 lbs (axles only) or is it 8520 lbs (Tongue & axles weights together)? :h
Thanks

RE: First outing of the season

A little moisture.. no problem .... DW & I had planned to pull the TT down to see DS this coming Monday but decided not to take the TT ... Why you ask!.. they forecast 35-40 mph winds w/ gusts to 60 Sunday thru Wednesday. I don't want to be on the highway in those winds. So we decided to wait for our first pull with our new truck. shuck y darn mother nature.

RE: Poll: Did you go larger?

Back in the late 70's DW & I started with a 78 E150 Ford Econoline Conversion van... when the 2nd kido came along we added a 85 Jayco Popup & pulled it with the van and then several years later moved up to a 91 26ft Dutchman TT, pulled with a 91 F-250 460 CI SC and then with an 04 F-250 CC 6.0 PSD & now are empty nesters & the owners of a 07 294RLS Cougar TT pulled by a 13 F-150 XLT Srew Eco HD 4x4 & lovin ever minute of it.
