RE: Memorial Day

I am quite familiar with the action off Samar. I had two uncles that served in the USN. I was told of the battle off Samar as a young school boy and I still remember it.

RE: Got to sit in a Tesla today

I suggest you read the reviews. Initially they were horrendous but I haven't checked recently so I don't know if the car has gotten any late positive ink.

RE: I-5 Bridge Collapse

Seems this was caused by another idiot behind the wheel. After seeeing it on the news tonight I thought the oversized load striking the bridge caused it. Just goes to show one shouldn't place blame till the whole truth is known.

RE: Murphy Got Me Again

Murphy has a clone. I ordered new golf clubs and specifically wrote LEFT HAND on the form then had the pro confirm it to the factory in California; and what happens? The Callaway factory sends me RIGHT handed custom made clubs I can't use!! Yes Murphy's clone is alive and well.

RE: Extended service plan

I found that extended warranties are seldom worth what one spends. Having said this, one use can pay for the entire contract. I only bought ONE plan like this in my half century of driving and used it only ONE time. :S But if you can afford it and not need it; your call.:W

RE: Biking in Yellowstone in June

We've been to Yellowstone many times and I never fail to see bikers all over the place during the summer. While the roads don't have bike lanes it has not discouraged them from pedaling through the park in great numbers. I personally won't bike in the park itself because my grandson wouldn't let me go without him and I don't trust traffic enough to risk his safety for that reason. The rv resort where we stay in West Yellowstone has ample places for riding bikes anyway.:C

RE: Golf???

I think what snapped their chain was Scott winning the Masters with that long putter of his. He changed to the long putter a few years back because the weakest part of his game was putting. He immediately started making more putts and now that he's having major success, the lords of the greens are taking his primary weapon away. If they're going to do this, then I suggest they place TWO holes on every green. One for the scratch, pro level golfers and one that is and inch and a half BIGGER than the pro level hole. This would give amatures a decent chance at par/birdie. Let's all start a petition!!

RE: Who can be the last poster?

No, no. You were supposed to say "What?" like Popeye59. He got it right.

RE: Saw an ortho for my elbow yesterday

Point taken; I tried holding my elbows flat against my sides and they do move slightly while manuevering fingers around the keyboard. I wish you quick healing. BTW I think your post is informative.:B

RE: Stuck with Rude Neighbors Argh...

I must be going to the right places as we've had no run-ins or problems of any real kind with our neighbors. One of our recent trips a guy invited me to watch football on his huge tv on the side of his TT. Hope my luck holds.:B

RE: Golf???

I know how you did it. You were so furious over the previous hole you were totally relaxed on the par three tee. You made a perfect, simple, relaxed swing and drilled it. Now if I can just remember to do the same thing next time out.:B

RE: Small dealer rant

We have the same problem with our local fast food joints. Every time we order a burger with "extra" onions there usually are none or just a small piece. Either that or they leave out an order of fries or get the drinks wrong. No wonder these places have such high turnover rates. But you'd expect a little more professionalism in a DMV. After all, isn't government supposed to be perfect?

RE: Any LEO retired or currently sworn here!

PT was my most difficult part of the academy too. I was very concerned all the young whipper snappers were going to leave me in the dust. Imagine my surprise when I kept looking over my shoulder at the younger guys who were trying to keep up with ME during the sessions that required running for distance. Granted I wasn't out front either but I managed to hold my own; you just have to committ a hundred percent every session whether it's cuffing, hand to hand or diving through a window; and remember you can always rest later.

RE: The Secret of a Contented Married Life::::::

Long before we got married I remembered my wife saying that her Dad's dream was to built his "little girl" her own home some day. After we'd been married about ten yrs or so he decided to build her that house. Guess who got "volunteered":W to help build it right along side him. I really can't complain though. She's let me live with her all these years and hasn't asked for a penny in rent!!

While we've been to both I much prefer Florida for the beaches, golf, temps, sundry other things to do. :C

RE: How to plan??

We did a grand tour of the southwest, west coast and northwest a few years ago. I made NO reservations as I didn't know where we'd be stopping or when. It worked out beautifully since every time DW got tired and wanted to stop for a day or two we simply found a campground with a site open or a nice truck stop or something similar. :C

RE: For Pow-Wows, Rendevous and Docents

I did Civil War re enacting for years back in the 90's and we'd throw out gear in someone's van and drive to the event, fight the battle then load up and drive home. Next month or so same thing all over again. It's a lot of fun if you're young and into that period of history. There is a danger of frost-bite though so you need a good blanket and thick socks! :W
