RE: 1983 Mallard 260
Welcome to the forum.
If you have no leaks you, want to keep it that way.
Use Eternabond on the seams. Clean the area well before applying. It will be a one time repair.X 2.....Use Eternabond and seal it forever, Not the other stuff that will need to be re-done once a year, Eternabond the seams and your done.
RE: Miles per day/hours on the road
I sure did enjoy reading all this, I drive 704 Miles round trip each day hauling coal, On a good day it's 12 1/4 hours and on the other days it takes around 14 hours, Be safe and enjoy your trip.
RE: Miles per day/hours on the road
Total vacation time is about 2 1/2 weeks. The thought was to leave the Wednesday before July 4 and return on July 21, so 18 days. I was hoping to get to Cody on the 6th, and arrive in Yellowstone on the 7thThat should be plenty of time, You should average 50 MPH, 12 Hours and that will give you time for fuel stops, It's a long drag to the Ohio state line So after you make that then you will have the next 600 going down easy.
RE: Total Rebuild of a 1979 Dodge Class C
I think that repair will hold although I don't think them bolts you used to hold them on will, You will be spending time replacing Manifold Gaskets, It looks like you might get about 500 miles out of them,Gaskets, Good luck
Thanks I'll take all the Good luck I can get(I hate that other kind of luck), and of course I hope you're wrong.I passed the first road test last weekend, 350 miles, 10 of it off road in the desert above Barstow.

After a bumpy drive through a sandy wash and then up a hill I shook her pretty good. The next morning I found Ice cycles and a leak in the bathroom.

I had to fix a loose fresh water fitting on the toilet. An easy fix.
The engine never ran so smooth and My mileage went from 6 to 9 miles a gal. I thought I was using more than I should.
I need to ask, why are the new bolts bad?
And I got the gaskets at O'Reillys for $18. They are bad Too?

After Breakfast Shots from our Hosts. There was no driving that day.
Just got back from mining in the desert above RedRock Canyon. Now I have over 700 miles on my repaired Manifold and still purrs. Had an adventure off road with a broken fuel filter, stalled out. I had the spare and changed it out on a dirt road in the rain in just 10 minutes. Always have spares with you of the basics, filters, belts, hoses, fluids.

RE: Living in a Class C trailer
We are planning on travelling the US and Canada in either a Class C rv or a truck pulling a travel trailer. I was wondering if anyone had experience RV living and if a Class C is a comfortable way to do this.Class C all the way, I have not been everywhere in a Class C but I have been everywhere in a Peterbilt with a 53 foot trailer, The places that I have been with the truck bobtailing I know that there is room for a class C and I have bobtailed just about every place you can think of, Just me I would rather be in a class C anytime.
RE: Total Rebuild of a 1979 Dodge Class C
Tis the season fix it up.
I just posted a new thread before I saw your post. I have a 79 C–30 truck cab RollAlong. I started work on it back in the beginning of December.
1 month later and after several delays, including the weather, I got it fixed.
The Golden Rabbit Tour Coach is back on the Road.
But it's all good, taking the extra time I found other important problems to solve.
So I welded cast iron(it's like welding glass).
Into a 500º oven, then quickly to the welding bench.
My friend puts the torch to it, heating both ends while I welded and rolled it around.
Filled 2 holes, and 2 full passes all the way around the manifold.
Torching it as the welds cooled and then back into the 500º oven.
We turned down the temp every 30 min. by 100º until we reached room temp.
The center of a 1" long weld showed a hair line crack, so the next day we did the whole process again.
Success, and for good measure 2 coats of Pryo-Putty by aremco,
Pyro-Putty® 2400

Plus New belts, air filter, and oil change.
Here are some before and after.

I had to use a product called Bolt grabber to remove for seized bolts. But I broke them loose without breaking the bolts or my ratchet. So It is done. It should last several years, or I may have to Shoot the damn beast. It's the photo where you show about the tape that held the gasket on,...Them bolts look great.
RE: Total Rebuild of a 1979 Dodge Class C
The 2ed photo up from the bottom looks great, I was going by the other bolts The one's that are hext head, Just dont look like this will hold, Them bolts that I guess is on the other side looks great,...Nice looking place and I would have loved to been there for that Breakfest drink, Some of my fresh cooked Moonshine would have fit right in there.
RE: V10, 6.8 L Fuel Consumption
Anytime time you say HHO that brings out all of the haters and all of the experts and then its over, You never hear one going with the other, Bottom line H.H.O Generators will work and they will work right and up the MPG, (Way Up)
the best thing to do is find someone that you know that is into HHO or get into it yourself, Build a few good generators and find what works, For today's Engines you will need a Adjustable Censer, You will find what kind if you study, H.H.O Will work that's all I have to say, I Have seen it work and work damm good. Do NOT going buying stuff off the internet,
RE: 1975 dodge empire resto is back
hiya trucker! I remember seeing pics of your frame and yes, i think yours was more rotten than mine was. the entire back of mine was rotted out, from the back of the roof, to the bottom. when i was taking the sheet metal off the back, the entire thing just collapsed to the ground. had to bail off my ladder to keep from getting knocked down. mine already has a sloped roof, so no worries there. i am going to raise the front of the roof so i'll have more headroom in the bunk. before i tore it down, i got in the bunk and laid down. didnt really like the ceiling being 8 inches from my face. havent decided how high to raise it yet...maybe 10 inches? i dont want to get too crazy with it. entire floor has to be replaced, though. the genius that designed this thing did not put any supports out from the chassis frame, so the floor sags on either side of the frameYes I wish I would have raised my roof a little more than I did, Up in the overhead is about 2 inch taller but still I wish I would have went about 3 more, Your doing some real work on this one, Keep it up.

RE: What did you do to your Class C MH today???
Most of the time this is caused from not having a hanger to hold the weight off of the cross over, Good luck sounds like you have a friend that knows how to fix it right.
RE: 1975 dodge empire resto is back
Hell yeah, I Love it, Looks like your frame is in a lot better shape than mine was, Remember to build you a slope roof, (Not Flat) So water run off a lot better, You have a great rig with a little Work and a lot of Love, Keep going man looks great.:B
RE: Hot water tank removal
I would bet there is a line leaking and the tank is fine, The Gas line should come off from inside the outside hatch area, I believe the access to the water lines should be from inside the RV Under a cabinet.
RE: Generator problem
Get you a can of Wire dry, Most auto parts stores will sell some kind of this stuff, Spray all of the wiring that can be seen, And Spray all of the wire connections Twice,....This should solve your problem.
RE: What did you do to your Class C MH today???
Took it to the shop to have new shocks, upgraded anti-sway bar bushings and helper springs installed. In the process I found a a trace of transmission fluid on my driveway and now I'm looking for the source of the leak. I want to fix it before getting back on the road in the spring.Check the rear seal, And check for lose pan bolts,..Good luck
RE: Bleeding brakes 1979 Dodge
should have auto brake adjust on the brake, ?? Did this part get put back together the right way, If it was put back right then adjust brakes with a brake wrench and try them again............If you install non-metallic linings on a brake system that was designed to use semi-metallic linings, the brakes will not work properly initially. The linings will have to wear the metallic deposits off of the rotor before they function correctly. The result will be premature brake lining wear. On the other hand, if you use semi-metallic linings on a system that was designed to use non-metallic linings, the pores in the brake rotor that would fill with metallic deposits instead will be filled with organic material, preventing metallic deposit transfer.
