RE: 2002 F350 Lariat with 7.3L Diesel

If the price is right, snap it up. True, tranny is weak link. When the factory tranny goes replace it with a John Wood towmaster and a 6.0L 31 row cooler. Install gauges and a DP chip, 4" turbo back exhaust and you can run with the big dogs and get a lot better mileage. There is no cat, EGR, or DPF on these trucks. Engines are simple enough for the average guy to perform the minimal maintenance required. Also, with the DP chip you can get the DECEL tune that serves as an exhaust brake.

RE: Fallen in love with a Carri-lite

yep... and anything above requires a noncommercial Class A... which includes a driving test. It's the non-commercial class A which is the issue.. not the endorsement. And yes, the duelly would be undersized for the rig. I just got the non commercial class A. No driving test required.

RE: Fallen in love with a Carri-lite

A fifth wheel between 10,000 and 15,000# require that you have a "restriction 41-may tow fifth wheel recreational trailer between 10,000 and 15,000 lbs. GVWR"

RE: B&W Patriot 5th wheel hitch questions

I replaced my 10 year old Reese Select with a Patriot last year. When your hitch arrives the first thing you will notice is the perfect packaging. It will be packaged in a way that it can't be damaged in shipping. Next, the powder coating is without flaws. The assemble and install instruction are through and easy to follow. Once installed you will see that the machined jaws fit the pin perfectly. Chucking and clucking are eliminated. Best of all it is still made in the USA by Americans using American steel.

If you take 58 west from Barstow to Bakerfield you will only have rush hour traffic at Tahachapi.

RE: interested in cedar creek

I am unsure of Canadian prices. I know that most Cedar Creek owners are very satisfied with their 5ers. Check the link below. RV Ratings

RE: Adding chip for engine performance?

I was really being entertained by the first page of this thread. Brian had to ruin it explaining that you can't chip a 6.0. Those of us with chips, real chips, not programmers, will keep them and our old reliable 7dot3's.

RE: Day night shade repair ???

I want to order string and parts to fix my blinds (took blind apart, doesn't look to difficult). I googled both Fix My Blinds and Repair Your Blinds, both seem to sell the same stuff, is one as good as the other for parts? Went to local fabric store, they don't sell this type of string, it seems to be a high strength tightly woven specialty string. Thanks 80# test mono fishing line works great. Lasts longer then you will have the camper.

RE: Clunking noise while towing

Been there, done that. Had a Reese 15K w/slider, clunk, clunk, clunk. Realized I never used the slider. Got the B&W Patriot that drops right down in the standard rails. No more clunk. Great hitch. Thanks to Craigslist I sold the Reese to someone that will have clunk, clunk, clunk. X-2, swapped out a Reese 16K select for a B&W Patriot. Clunk and chuck all gone.

RE: King pin stabilizer need it or not???

Ok my new 5th wheel friends We're looking for some advice on some items for our Flagstaff 28RKSS. Do we need a king pin stabilizer or slide out floor protectors? Our shake down trip is all booked for a campground close to home :) Thank you in advance for always worthy and worthwhile knowledge. WaltersTA You might want to look into this as opposed to the tripod. Steadyfast link

RE: play in jaws of hitch

All you folks who have Patriot hitches - are you satisfied with them? Do the jaws grip fairly tightly? Mike Yes, the jaw contact surfaces are machined for a perfect fit. absolutely no chucking. My previous hitch, a Reese Select had enough pin to jaw clearance to allow chucking.

RE: play in jaws of hitch

Hands down the best 16K hitch for the price and free shipping. I replaced my Reese Select with the Patriot and couldn't be more pleased. No chucking and even fits the Reese rails. Patriot Hitch
