RE: Who can be the last poster?

Flew down to Texas for a week to visit an ailing relative and to help drive back up with the spousal unit. Now I'm back in last place.

RE: Who can be the last poster?

I haven't tested any batteries because my camper doesn't have any batteries to test. The last time there was a battery in there was a small 12VDC one we used last summer when we went to a state part with full hook ups. I will most likely be buying the 235AH batteries though.

RE: Golf Cart battery sizes... Decisions, decisions

My stuff has 3/16" 3-sided 316 stainless box welded to steel. Allstate 275 rod welded. Reach underneath to unlock padlock. Ever try to cut 316 stainless? It eats cutting wheels for lunch. As long as the lock can't be reached with bolt cutters...

Tire crayon. Write BAD CELL BAD CELL With arrow pointing to it. Gotta be smarter than the problem. They aren't stealing batteries to use, they take them to the scrap yards and sell them.

RE: Golf Cart battery sizes... Decisions, decisions

I would rather lug the batteries into my fenced in backyard and put in my locked shed with motion sensor lights in the backyard and leave the box open with the wires hanging because around here, the thugs are vindictive SOB's. My sister's neighbor had installed a steel battery box - one of those expensive high security lock box. They beat the daylights out of it and still couldn't get in so they slashed all 4 tires and broke 2 windows. I would rather have them just walk by and not antagonize them for the 2 more years I'm going to be living here.

Okay, well, I'm not installing solar, I'm not looking for a method to secure them, I was just hoping someone had experience with the Duracell golf cart batteries.

RE: Golf Cart battery sizes... Decisions, decisions

I had some steel pipes welded on the trailer frame with large nuts on top with a large steel pipe through the nuts just clearing the top of the battery boxes and a heavy padlock holding the top pipe in place. The cut the padlock with bolt cutters. I put the batteries in my shed and leave the battery box lids off so they think I have no battery.

Summer camping only so furnace use should be minimal. I've replaced the overhead incandescent bulbs with LED boards too.

Golf Cart battery sizes... Decisions, decisions

I used to have a pair of US145XC2 golf cart batteries on my Rockwood ROO until someone decided they wanted them more and stole them. So I know that a 250AH battery will be plenty. Since then I only put a single 12VDC battery on as we stopped boondocking for a while. Now we are planning on doing some more boondocking and now I need to figure out if a pair of 235AH golf cart batteries will be enough for my camper to go 3 days of dry camping or if I should go with the 255AH ones. $70 difference per battery is making me lean towards the smaller ones. Does anyone have any experience with Duracell golf cart batteries? I can get a corporate discount at Batteries Plus, and that's the brand they carry for this size.

I'm the first last post today and the first (on this thread) to wish y'all a happy Mother's Day. I can log in at last. I was getting some error messages saying the forum was in some cloudflare thing and wasn't available. Wonder if that's like a solar flare?

RE: Who can be the last poster?

We had a big wind storm last week. Old Elm dropped a large branch on the power line, breaking the neutral at the pole but power was still on in the house. A 35 pine blew over in the front yard. Too much to do and too little time so we hired the job out. Quoted $750 to clean up pine and drop and remove elm tree. That's about half what I expected. Plus he's insured in case the elm goes the wrong way. Ended up with 14" of snow this last storm. At times visibility was less then a city block. Glad I didn't have to work those two days...

RE: Who can be the last poster?

The last thing I want today is the 40mph wind gusts. There is an old dead tree at mom's that likes to drop branches through her roof when it gets too windy.
