RE: Winnebago Air Conditioner

I don't think you should restrict the air movement too much. I generally leave all vents and doors open. I have on occasion closed the ceiling vents in the bedroom.

RE: Yellowstone 6/23-6/26

We arrived at our site in Madison, Sunday around 1pm. Lots of traffic coming up from the south. Of course the CG is full. But more of a surprise was the number of sightseers when we went out this morning. Bus after bus of people. Parking lots are full. Cars parked ever where. I don't recall it ever being this crowded at this time of year and we only went from Madison to Old Faithful. It was so crowded around noon, we left and went back home. Oh well...Maybe tomorrow.

RE: Cleveland Ohio

The Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds in Berea, OH is a convenient stop for Cleveland. I would call first and make sure no fair activities are planed during your stay.

RE: Quartzsite in summer - where to stay for 1 nite?

You could stay in Blythe, Ca. The Riviera RV Resort has a pool and is on the Colorado River. It was a nice KOA. I am sure it is as good or better as a private RV Park.

RE: Going to the Sun Road - Glacier NP

We will not be to St. Mary's until July 1st, but it's good to know that the road will be open.

RE: Jackson Hole Campground

We have been staying in loop B in Gros Ventre for a week. I think it's the best loop. I am sure others have their preference also. The rate for us at Jackson Hole CG was $74 plus Tax a night. :E I can do a lot of driving for $74. Grand Tetons pics

RE: 3rd Stop, Grand Tetons NP. 48 day National Park tour. Part 2

Enjoyed all of your pictures. Curious about where you found the beaver lodge & dam. We have camped a couple of times at the Atherton Creek campground. We were told last year that they were scheduled to repave the road from the Teton Park boundary to Atherton Creek. It was really bad with broken pavement and potholes last year. Wondering if you found new pavement? The beaver lodge and dam was on the Moose-Wilson road. Closer to Moose Jct than the Rockefeller center. No...The road still has it's pot holes.

RE: atwood water heater, no water comes out

adventuregirl, Not sure the make of your RV, but my Winnebago Journey has two check valves. One in the cold water line just before it enters the water heater. The other is in the hot water line on the other side of the RV in the line feeding all the plumbing, shower, sinks, etc. Since you were able to drain and flush the tank, it appears that you may also have a check valve in the hot water line leaving the tank.

3rd Stop, Grand Tetons NP. 48 day National Park tour. Part 2

We did the Wilson to Moose road and sure enough when we got near the Moose Jct. we got to see our first moose. https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-V2snk5i_A0A/UbezkD7uGfI/AAAAAAAAKI4/hkDg6-ZON5o/s640/DSC_0466.JPG width=640 On another day we did the Morman Row. Lots of old interesting buildings there from the early settlers. The tall mountain peak is Mt. Teton. https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-TKZ0Ak1Vnk8/Ubez6ifaoZI/AAAAAAAAKJg/0G0xzWLhRxY/s720/DSC_0476.JPG width=640 This the T.A. Moulton barn. Claimed to be the most photographed barn in America. One of it's movie credits is "Spencer Mountain". https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-dsKpsr4kxDI/Ube0DwYg3PI/AAAAAAAAKJw/gIegsXgEr9E/s640/DSC_0479.JPG width=640 There is was a large herd of Buffalo in the area. These two are butting heads. https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-tK6Ej3v70KQ/Ube0OORq0CI/AAAAAAAAKKI/qOKPpVsizjc/s640/DSC_0489.JPG width=640 I have always like the views from Oxbow Bend. This is Mt. Moran. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-GIrQ2MALTf4/Ube0Y0h4BiI/AAAAAAAAKKg/E3XYWxt4L1A/s640/DSC_0492.JPG width=640 On another trip we drove up Gros Ventre road to the Atherton Creek, Forest Service CG. Real nice CG on the Lower Slide Lake formed by the Gros Ventre slide in 1925. I think the slide sort of looks like E T the Terrestrial of the movie by the name. https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-MnnOjJCeiss/Ube0lYaM2eI/AAAAAAAAKK4/7oP92DWtAcw/s640/DSC_0498.JPG width=640 Just pass the slide area the valley opens up to an awesome view of the lake and mountains. https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-2PHkgtEw34A/Ube0ue7o31I/AAAAAAAAKLQ/DpHEQm9NWdo/s640/DSC_0502.JPG width=640 https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-bTf0EKYZVP8/Ube0xGPgkuI/AAAAAAAAKLY/G2KO4vY8738/s640/DSC_0503.JPG width=640 Lots more HERE. First timers may want to look at the whole album. Others may want to scroll down to the Rockefeller stop.

RE: Utah Highway 20

I just went over 20 in the opposite direction. From 89 to I-15. Going up on my trip there was an 8% grade for a few miles. Me, and a lot of trucks were down to 40 mph going up. Going your way may be better.

RE: ???? For open frame Generator users.

Thanks for the replies. The reason I asked is there is a Landmark 5th wheel parked about 200 feet from me. When the couple comes home from the days sight seeing around 4pm they crank up the generator and go inside till quite time at 8 pm. They then come out sit around the campfire till late. You can hear the generator all over the CG and was wondering how the noise would be inside there RV.

???? For open frame Generator users.

I really don't want to start a lot of anti open frame generator replies. Just a question. If using a 3000 watt open frame generator and it is placed about 10 feet from the rear of your Landmark 5th Wheel, and your doors and windows are closed, can you hear the generator running while inside your 5th Wheel?

RE: Sedona Arizona CG

Have you considered staying at the Arizona Dead Horse Ranch State Park? It's about 20 miles from downtown Sedona. Also close to other great attractions.

RE: Yellowstone

Just some figures: From West Yellowstone to Madison is about 15 miles. From Madison, the bottom loop is 96 miles around and back to Madison. From Madison, the top loop is 84 miles around and back to Madison. I would think at least 2 days per loop might get some highlights. We generally stay a week at Madison and a week at Mammoth Hot Springs.

RE: 3rd Stop, Grand Tetons NP. 48 day National Park tour.

Thanks for the great pictures. Grand Teton is our favorite Park. Couldn't make it out there this year, but already planning for going back in 2014. You may find a drive down Schwabacker Road in the toad interesting. Schwabacker Road, Spalding Bay Road, Two Ocean Lake Road and Grassy Lake Road Campsites are closed this year because of the so called BUDGETS CUTS. I have seen these in years pass and will miss seeing them again this trip.

3rd Stop, Grand Tetons NP. 48 day National Park tour.

We are staying in the Gros Ventre Campground, B Loop. This loop appears to be 3/4 full on this Saturday evening. Our first outing was stopping at the Albright View Turnout. https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-iBLB0oeiE1g/UbO9tUrRA7I/AAAAAAAAKCg/okVjtChlFWI/s512/DSC_0383.1.JPG width=640 https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-Bj4xCsAbURc/UbO91TZjKzI/AAAAAAAAKC4/I7EOkujeKnY/s640/DSC_0385.JPG width=640 Next was the Teton Glacier Turnout. https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-ZpBdRznrdn8/UbO99uqTIXI/AAAAAAAAKDQ/Mh8d8_GIpEo/s640/DSC_0390.JPG width=640 A closeup view of the Glacier. https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-vm82ItUHrzM/UbO-ApmW_TI/AAAAAAAAKDY/VAR8y_rzksI/s640/DSC_0392.JPG width=640 Next stop was the Jenny Lake Boat Dock to get a ride across the lake so we could hike the trail to the Hidden Falls. The creek was running real good, so I knew the falls were going to be great. https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-SArw1D4IA4o/UbO-OHM8v8I/AAAAAAAAKD4/4gfUHdy-okA/s640/DSC_0402.JPG width=640 Hidden Falls. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-frNpmOUv6kA/UbO-mlQhgyI/AAAAAAAAKEo/_3gM7sh2byI/s640/DSC_0409.JPG width=640 Next stop was the drive up Signal Mountain. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-Gvhy0P0uOig/UbO_HViuULI/AAAAAAAAKF4/hKNazu7fm40/s640/DSC_0424.JPG width=640 https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-rzK7DKx-EU0/UbO_K0fKcfI/AAAAAAAAKGA/Rm9cUVpHk6w/s640/DSC_0425.JPG width=640 https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-uVzpd0Wekb0/UbO_aryu_FI/AAAAAAAAKGo/GaRjqQMDZ3E/s640/DSC_0432.JPG width=640 Lots more HERE and more to come. :B during the coming week.

Red Canyon Campground, Dixie National Forest, Utah

On our last day at Bryce Canyon National Park, we drove a few miles up the road to check out the Red Canyon Campground in the Dixie NF. I am always on the lookout for a nice place to spend a few days and this looks like a winner. Just a short drive or bike ride on a real nice paved trail is the Red Canyon Visitor Center. The hosts were real helpful in choosing a trail that was not too strenuous for us. This is some of what we saw. https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-eMbz1-5K7ow/Ua4_NsVlqLI/AAAAAAAAJ-8/piq49B7Fles/s640/DSC_0353.JPG width=640 https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-KFNtf9TJgrI/Ua4_e66SbNI/AAAAAAAAJ_k/oL1VrJXmMjk/s512/DSC_0358.JPG width=640 https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-_5GoT07bBoc/Ua4_iejFRvI/AAAAAAAAJ_s/ff0XpbZgwdM/s640/DSC_0359.JPG width=640 https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-bBPdoRqlSHk/Ua5AL8nLHFI/AAAAAAAAKBc/Jyrv5gf0s4M/s640/DSC_0377.JPG width=640 https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-UIIZX5eYJpw/Ua5AbASoC3I/AAAAAAAAKB8/hk9ZPPfWFzc/s640/DSC_0380.JPG width=640 More Here... We are off to the Grand Teton NP on Thursday.
