RE: Why does the market demand Diesel??

Well! I live at 4200'msl:B, and yes I agree a gas vehicle can get high mileage towing if you maintain them as you should with any motorized vehicle.

RE: Why does the market demand Diesel??

The op is correct that the current market tends to lean toward diesels. I have a diesel and love the comfort of towing in the mountains. Like one poster stated, Paraphrasing; I go up the mountain and put the exhaust brake on going down. I tow a 5ver just over 10,200# dry. The truck is my preference, the type of fuel is my preference, the color and interior was our preference. I'm having fun as a retiree and enjoy what I have. The question should be "What type of truck should I buy for the job I want it to do." JMO

Emision equipment warrantee or replacement

http://ezinearticles.com/?DPF,-What-and-Where-Is-It?-How-Does-it-Work?-Should-I-Buy-a-DPF-Delete-Kit?&id=4212010; This ,to me, is an interesting read, Just wish I knew how to make links user friendly. In this article it mentioned the price range of the DPF $2300 to $2600. I either read it in magazine or on the forum that the Feds hold the manufacture responsible for the filter replacement if and when it fails. are my meds interfering?:@

RE: Diesel vs gas......................

According to the tow chart the 550&V10 should pull up to 17,300k Yep, with 4.88 gears, maybe it is gallons per mile at that ratio, not miles per gallon. your statement kind of reminds of a military vehicle I road in...once then it was on foot or Jeep.

RE: Great Basin National Park

I think it depends on the time of year. In the summer, the campgrounds at Great Basin are very cool – very high-altitude. I think the accommodations in the area tend to be at low altitude and much hotter. So the afternoons and evenings will be very pleasant at the campground, and not so nice at low altitude. I'm planning late April, if generators are authorized in the park camp grounds

RE: Great Basin National Park

Relly it's a matter of what you want. There are only three hotels in the area that I know of and all are farily basic. Your 5er will be much nicer. There are a couple of RV spots nearby with hook ups but the CGs in the park do not. I would most likely take the 5er even if it was boondocking. I lean that direction but the Lotus blossom is worried about fuel costs, I'm not, but I have to say "yes, Master."

RE: Great Basin National Park

I live 130 miles from Shenandoah National Park and 130 miles from Assateague National Seashore. I go to both a few times a year. I would never consider going to either and staying in a motel, even in the dead of winter. Motels are claustrophobia inducing - I always feel trapped once inside, especially the high rises where the windows don't open. And there is no kitchen, no place to hang out outside, and there is always someone in the next room blaring the tv or screaming at the phone/spouse. I was stationed there in DC (69 to 74) and visited those areas. Beautiful but would never live in that Metro area again. thank you for your input

RE: Great Basin National Park

5W is CAMPING/RVING and car means NOT CAMPING/RVING and YES to MOTEL/HOTEL/TENT....so I do not see what is the problem OF COURSE CAMPING/RVING isn't it what it is all about??? Maybe you take the 5W and she can take the car...and everyone got what he wanted. :B Do you know a good Lawyer?

RE: How much weight are you pulling with your Gas TV?

Help me out here; Diesel vrs Gas for tow vehicles. Currently I'm towing with diesel approximately 22k cgvw and I average 10 to 12 depending on terrain. Gas these days I have no idea the average MPGs. but I know there is power for pulling. the last I looked at a gas tow vehicle was 1993 Dodge with the 5.2L pulling a 28' Salem and I thought 8mpgs was great. what is the average now for gas power, v10, 450, 454 etc because I don't know.

Great Basin National Park

I only live approximately 250 miles from the park is it worth pulling the 5ver or a Motel. I want to take the 5ver the DW wants to take the car. I know the decision is ours, but what will be missed or gained? OH! I'm only in charge when she is shopping.

Mix i go

Has anyone heard of Bell Performance or their fuel additives? The company and users on car forums claim an increase up to 12% I'm a doubting Thomas here. Sounds to good to be true. What do you say?

RE: Canadians Now Need An International License in Florida

Were the politicians on pot when they wrote this misunderstood law:) seriously I've driven on Canadian soil the only driving adjustment I made was to think in Km instead of MPH. What's the difference in their driving laws and the US. Florida needs to retrain their driving instructors, it was a white knuckle drive for me when I was there a year ago.

RE: Dodge cab leak?

Water Leaks are somewhat difficult to fine, had a dealer try 3x on a vehicle I have. Since you have a truck similar to mine, I'm by no means an expert, I would suspect the lights on the roof or door seal. Just a guess, but let me know what you find.
